  1. Have you tried any of the Rx drugs for it? I tried a beta blocker (I can't remember the name) but it left me feeling like a wet dish rag. I gave up on it pretty quick. That was years ago though, they've got to have better meds out by now . . .?

    ARCHIVED Dq1

I found this on Open Original Shared Link. Nothing in Open Original Shared Link. (That I could find, looking quickly) There's a link between DQ1, Multiple Sclerosis and Bipolar; From Open Original Shared Link
  3. It might just be eating too close to bedtime. An overactive GI tract can keep you awake. You don't have reflux or GERD? Here's a website I browse through when I can't sleep . . . Open Original Shared Link
  4. Open Original Shared Link I don't know if their pudding is gluten-free but if you ask they'll probably send you their gluten-free list for Stop N Shop brand products. I have lists from Publix, Albertson's, Winn-Dixie and CVS. (PS. My first job was Stop N Shop cashier in Shelton, CT. And that was before scanners. )
  5. I've had Neurocardiogenic Syncope my whole life. My blood pressure just drops to nothing for no apparent reason. I've had recurrent fainting spells and two seizures because of it. When I was sixteen I went to the family doctor - old guy - with this, explaining that I've been fainting for as long as I can remember, he said,"Young girls faint. It's normal....

  7. Hi Jason! {AOL voice}Welcome, you have celiac disease! There's no such thing as "borderline" celiac, you have it or you don't. From your blood results, your family history (family members of a celiac have a 1 in 10 chance, as opposed to the 1 in 100 of most people) and your doctor's reaction, I'd say you have celiac disease. Sometimes celiac doesn...

    ARCHIVED Doctors

It's an HMO - everything gets turned down the first time. Persevere and see if Doc Lozano will write a letter to the insur agent, explaining why a "special specialist" is needed in the case of celiac disease. If he's already written one, ask him to write another. Ask your regular GI to write one as well. I bet this celiac clinic has to deal with insur nonsense...
  9. The short answer is yes. Here's a link for you Open Original Shared Link Sometimes internal scarring from the surgery can cause problems also. Or it was the stew afterall. Or hidden gluten somewhere else in your diet? I hope you feel better soon whatever the troublemaker!
  10. I like this celiac FAQ. . . Open Original Shared Link "A person with celiac disease may have no symptoms. People without symptoms are still at risk for the complications of celiac disease, including malnutrition. The longer a person goes undiagnosed and untreated, the greater the chance of developing malnutrition and other complications." "Other...
  11. I drink Maxwell House with no trouble. I don't have DH tho. Hmm, is your coffee maker contaminated?

    ARCHIVED Doctor Vs. Test Results

I think after two months gluten-free you're pushing it - but then again doctors routinely test patients who've been gluten-free six months to a year for refractory sprue and/or compliance. So if you do get tested, and it's still high, then you get an "official" by-bloodwork-diagnosis making your doctor happy AND you know there's something gluteny in...
  14. My (humble uneducated) guess is you didn't outgrow "it", "it" is celiac and you've had it all your life. You're not crazy! (at least not about this! ) You can ask in the Doctors topic if anyone knows of a good GI doc in your area. Travel to a celiac center if you can afford it. Get and keep copies of all tests. From "Celiac the Clinical Chameleon" by...
  15. You could have problems with scaring from the surgery or Open Original Shared Link. I kid you not.
  16. Sounds to me like your bloodwork was borderline celiac. Onto the endo for confirmation. You're hot on the trail and almost there, just hang on a bit longer! The cat scan and colonoscopy aren't diagnostic for celiac. Those are to rule out other illnesses/problems, with or without celiac. Ask your doctor why you need to have these tests. Don't let her...
  17. Open Original Shared Link It may start with an ad page, just click "skip". Scroll down for link to gluten-free list.
  18. Here's the Open Original Shared Link from the Archives of Neurology. I'm guessing you have to be a subscriber to read the full text
  19. Howdy Gamecreature! Here's a list of Open Original Shared Link in Illinois. As far as telling people, I'm fairly open about it - I'd rather they get used to the idea before they invite me to dinner and I spring, "Oh, by the way, I have a genetic autoimmune disease which makes me deathly afraid of the wooden spoons in your kitchen." ...
  20. 5. Pardon My Sobbing I know Pardon My Sobbing is in full swing when I start crying during the "talking kitties" kitty litter commercials.
  21. Cluecke just posted the Campbells gluten-free list - I bumped it up for you.
  22. These are from the new 2006 Delphi gluten-free List: "Cadbury Adams (ve=3/3/06) All of our chewing gums are gluten free, including all Dentyne, Trident, Chiclets, and Bubblicious." "Wrigley (vw=4/25/06) (Open Original Shared Link ucts_faqs.asp#q6) Wrigley's Spearmint® gum, Freedent® gum, Doublemint® gum, Extra® gum, Big Red® gu...
  23. Just to echo what others have said - ranges differ lab to lab, there are so many (over 200) possible symptoms with celiac that it's been called "the great chameleon", and get a copy of that bloodwork. I had negative bloodwork twice, years apart, before being dx by biopsy.
  24. Medline Plus article on Open Original Shared Link. It mentions constipation as a "less common" side effect. Is your brand of bromocriptine gluten-free? I've been trying to avoid deli meats too. It seems I'm more sensitive to MSG now, I used to be able to get away with a ham sandwich or a hot dog here or there but the brain slamming headaches...
