  1. You've removed the trigger - gluten - and now your antibody levels have returned to normal. Congrats! Your immune system is no longer attacking your small intestine! Keep up the gluten-free diet and your vitamin/mineral deficiancies should improve as well.

Have you changed to or started any generic medication? The active ingredients are the same but the inert ingredients (the binders) can be different. Generic brands use cheaper, hence more allergic, binders. I've had hives from a generic.
  3. I've heard of Open Original Shared Link But that's just on the face, often just on one side. "Gustatory sweating" or "Gustatory flushing" brings up alot on google. It can be associated with diabetes. Open Original Shared Link
  4. I can say, with confidence, that celiac disease does not cause Idiopathic Autoimmune Chronic Active Hepatitis. Ooo, look! I said it again! If you're sick will active celiac disease make you sicker? Yes! Celiac will make you sick even if you were previously healthy. Is hepatitis a general term referring to multiple diseases and disorders? Yes.
  5. Enterolab is not a non-profit.
  6. If your doctor says your bloodwork, ". . .clearly indicates celiac. . .", then you have celiac disease. You're lucky, in a way. Many people don't get such a definitive answer from bloodwork. The 'scope itself can rule out other illnesses (that you may have on top of the celiac) and it can check to see just how much damage there is to your small...
  7. Congrats to the happy couple!
  8. Celiac cannot cause autoimmune hepatitis. It may be related genetically, I don't know. It is my understanding that Idiopathic Autoimmune Chronic Active Hepatitis is - at least in part - genetic. "The cause of IACAH is unknown, therefore the designation idiopathic. The possibility that a viral agent may trigger the onset of autoimmune chronic active...
  9. I use Pamela's baking mix for breading. I've used it on fish and chicken successfully but I've never tried onions. Although I have been craving onion rings lately. (It's those darn Outback ads!) 3/4 c Pam's 1/4 c cornmeal and a touch of whatever seasoning you like, paprika, S&P, Mrs Dash blend, etc. Allrecipe.com has some adaptable onion...
  10. I don't play WoW but I used to play shooters on my PC (Doom, Heretic, Quake) all the time. I was surprised more women didn't like them, they're just like shopping! Run around collecting stuff, avoid bad guys and traffic and kill only when necessary. I gotta say, Tormentia is the best game name EVER.
  11. This has some basic explantions. Open Original Shared Link I don't see where your Doc was so shocked tho? Your IGG is elevated . . ? Oh, duh . Your IGA is low. Mine was too, a 6 I think. I never officially got tested for Selective IGA Deficiency tho I probably should. Do you have a history of recurrent sinus infections, colds, eye infections...
  12. I and my family have mutiple autoimmune disorders. It's genetic, you've had the genes for these disorders since conception. When (and if) these diseases choose to strike is dependent in part on both nature and nuture, your genes and the effect of your environment on you.
  13. You still may have a reaction a few days from now - depends on when your immune system registers the "threat". Even if you never have symptoms, you have, most likely, damaged your small intestine - which will cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies down the line. Autoimmune disorders are strange beasts and the immune system itself is very mercurial. Reactions...
  14. What brand of chocolate? Could be lactose or cross contamination or your stomach wasn't ready for half a bar of chocolate on Sunday morning. I think hard cheeses are generally low in lactose.
  15. What age were you diagnosed with celiac? 37 What were your most common symptoms? Bloating, a burning sensation around my middle and alternating constipation/diarrhea. What are your symptoms when you eat gluten now? Nausea, extreme fatigue, flu like symptoms, diarrhea. Do you consider yourself more sensitive to gluten now that you try to avoid...
  16. I've been putting off having my bone scan done. I'm worried about the results. I've had juvenile rheumatoid arthritis since infancy, it causes all sorts of bone growth abnormalities. I once had a doctor look at an xray of my spine and gasp. He said I had the spine of an elderly woman - I was 23. (I shoulda whacked 'em with my cane. ) I can't put it off...
  17. I've lost my appetite from indigestion before, anything too acidic and I get reflux. What did you do for your indigestion, anything? Sometimes I'll take a pepcid. Do you have trouble regaining your appetite?
  18. It's probably best to keep it simple but here's a recipe Open Original Shared Link that has special diets in mind. "Special Diet Solutions: Healthy Cooking w/o Wheat, Gluten, Dairy, Eggs, Yeast or Refined Sugar" by Carol Fenster was a good book (in a series, I believe). Let's you pick and choose what to leave in/out and gives good substitution suggestions...
  19. Hi , I have celiac and rheumatoid arthritis. I read somewhere that Sarcoidosis sometimes causes arthritis in the ankles. Were you on prednisone for the Sarcoidosis? Pred can sap calcium from your bones and cause bone pain in the weight bearing long bones and joints, hip/knees/feet etc. Celiac also causes calcium loss, as well as many other mineral...
  20. I'm so sorry you got glutened. It can happen to any of us, newbie or not. My last restaurant debacle was at Longhorn Steakhouse. I had salad, no croutons, oil and vinegar. Steak, no seasonings, please clean the grill. I got half way through the salad when something went "crunch", it was a crouton - someone had, instead of removing the little nasties, hid...
  21. Did you mean Julie's Ice Cream? No allergen info on the site that I could find, here's a link to their Open Original Shared Link
  22. I haven't tried the Southern Glory mix (although I will now), the closest thing to real southern bicuits I've had were frozen pre-made "cream" biscuits from Whole Foods. I was going to get some for Thanksgiving but maybe I'll try 123's mix first!
  23. I think the problem with the organic ketchup was outsourced ingredients. Heinz didn't want to vouch for another manufactuer. I guess they got the comfirmation they needed. Ooo. New lists! Yea!
  24. Here's Target's Open Original Shared Link page. It also has their 1-800 #.
  25. Yikes! Yeah, unfortunatly in restaurants all it takes is one uninformed nitwit to screw the whole thing up. I'd never eat soup or salad in a restaurant. Nitwits like to add things to soup, like flour. And in the nitwit language "no croutons" apparently means, "hide the croutons under the tomato slices". I have eaten at our local Chili's several...
