  1. I think both of you just confirmed why blood tests AND biopsy are both used to diagnose Celiac. This is a good thing. Colleen
  2. Had a wonder lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. Kitchen staff was excellent as was the meal. Breaking out some Wine tonight also. Plan to seriously relax.
  3. Ah...yes, as Cycling said. The Doc will want to know everyone in your family with a thyroid problem. If you don't know, find out before you go to the appt. Colleen
  4. Basically you want regular blood tests to monitor the thyroid to create a range of results and to see if it rises or falls and you can tell physically. The normal range is quite big but many of us do better at a specific number. It does take tweeking to get to the right place and can be frustrating but is worth it. Make sure the Doc explains everything...
  5. Most definitely YES. I can tell if my level changes by a single point. It's so important to keep it steady. Colleen
  6. Benzos won't work for sleep as you read. One med you might want to look into is Trazadone. It's what I have taken for half my like due to chronic insomnia. Ambian is a consideration but is addictive and can only be used for a few nights, then a few off. Can have other bad effects also. Melatonin and Valarian Root together at night may work somewhat...
  7. Just wanted to tell you not to worry about the nodule. They are usually calcified and of no concern. I have an ultra-sound on my every 6 months. You'll need to start on some thyroid medication of get back to normal levels. I'm sure Gem will add lots more. Colleen
  8. Hi Lynn and Welcome to the Forum. If you feel better not eating wheat I would continue doing that. Your Dr. is right, there are not reliable tests to show food intolerances. You can always choose to look into Celiac testing also but you must be eating gluten for those tests. Keep in mind that the emotional things you are experiencing will most...
  9. Laura, yup. I don't have mexican food often, but when I do, I drink Dos Equis. Note: This is a joke and only a joke. If it were a serious comment, it would not contain gluten
  10. Hi Spazoid and Welcome to the Forum. I have split your post off of the original thread as it was old and you will most likely get more comments with a new Thread. Colleen
  11. You may put it in your Profile but not in your Sig. Good luck with the Blog!!! Colleen
  12. Hi Jdaily and Welcome to the Forum. 21 Days????? I'm going on two years and still have small improvements in my health. I would give yourself AT LEAST 6 months to judge what may improve and what may not or just take longer. Also, it depends on if your are Celiac or NCGI or gluten-free just for your health. Since Celiac is an autoimmune disease, many...
  13. Usually Achiote Paste is made from Spices. Most Single Spices are gluten-free. You would have to look at the actual ingredients to see if anything is added. I do know that you can make your own blend. There are recipes on the net. Colleen
  14. Hubs puts pb on his waffles . I've heard a few people say they like it with bananas. I prefer it straight out of the jar
  15. I will suggest that member's put Traveling Woes in the appropriate Forum Section so future searches for "traveling" information come up with members's experiences while traveling. The "What's For Dinner" thread is a fast moving, fun thread. This is by no means a hard and fast rule, just a suggestion to keep relative information in the right places for...
  16. Yes, stress can effect a body like that. Colleen
  17. I would go to my Kitchen.
  18. Coffee, plain. Everyday...runs in my veins.
  19. Sometimes it is just "getting old" or "high humidity" or just because they hurt today. If you test negative for Celiac, there is no reason whatsoever not to go Gluten Free if you feel it will help you. We all have the right to eat any way we want. Colleen
  20. Hubs picked up a pound of beautiful thick cut BACON yesterday. BRING IT ON Pizza and Wine for dinner.....was celebrating
  21. I always get smacked when I try to be spontaneous... Colleen
  22. Maybe buy your frozen vegi's from a grocery store then. Colleen
  23. The only time I have seen gluten in frozen vegi's is if it has a sauce in it. You must be careful selecting as it is getting more common for them to come in a light sauce. Colleen
