ARCHIVED Big Kitchen Clean, Am I Missing Anything?
GF Lover replied to megsybeth's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I just wanted to add a thought about the rest of your plates, glasses etc. I know that flour can get absolutely everywhere. Maybe run all of your dishes thru the dishwasher to catch anything that has settled. I'm thinking about the bottom plates of the stack that might not be used as often. You can call me obsessed, I do, but my Hubs is a Glutinator and... -
ARCHIVED A Thank You To Dieticians
GF Lover replied to mushroom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wow Mushroom, I hope you have recovered well. I agree with the kudos. Some are caring and knowledgeable. Just this last Wednesday, I was in the Hospital, the gal was bringing the tray cart in the room, another gal came right behind her her saying wait, wait. she grabbed the cart and apologized saying it wasn't double checked and was not gluten free. ... -
Hi all, I had my 2nd surgery on the 14th of Nov. All went really good. They removed the surface lymph nodes in the left groin area. My Oncologist said they take the surface ones as a mass (I pictured an ice cream scoop lol). Then they take the front hip muscle, she said it's the one you use when you cross your leg, slice it vertically, then fold...

ARCHIVED Eating Disorder & Celiac Disease?
GF Lover replied to katz's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Katz I just started a topic about this a couple weeks ago. Do a search ”fear of food". The suggestions I received were great and it is helping me eat more and better. It's very hard but I think once you wrap your head around this thing it will get better. Your commitment to your health is essential. If I can help at all just shoot me a message. ... -

GF Lover replied to TiaMichi2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Love2Travel Have you tried Tizanidine? It's an alternative to Flexeril (muscle relaxer ). It works some for me. Along with some tramadol it takes the edge off. Colleen -
ARCHIVED Gabapentin 100 Mg Mfg By Actavis
GF Lover replied to TiaMichi2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I took up to 2000 mg a day. No help after 9 months. I still have a bunch I try every so often when I'm in more pain then usual. -
gluten-free, Great links, definitely helpful. Also, I am starting to turn my thinking around. Looking at it like a treatment for cancer. This diagnosis has really opened my eyes to the benefit of diet and exercise to lengthen survival rates. And I'm all for that. Dicussing my issue with you guys after trying to ignore it has helped so much...

I have two toy yorkies. The oldest on knows me like a book. If I am in serious distress he even barks so hubs knows. I agree, some dogs are totally connected to you. My little guy is the best.

They are going to schedule the surgery and call me with the appointment. I will see a different oncologist for the interferon treatment, they will call with that appointment time also.

Thanks all for the great suggestions and advice. I'm gonna use the timer idea. I think with the two bite rule I will fill little baggies with the food. Then I can just grab one. Ive started the smoothie with protein powder. Hubs is gonna make me batches of soup starting with chicken and rice today. I feel full just typing this. I found out yesterday...

That's interesting. My therapist said I was controlling this because everything else was out of my control. So then you gave yourself a max you had to eat and that would put you back in control because the disease doesn't get what it wants either, correct?

ARCHIVED Family Doesn't Seem To Care Much
GF Lover replied to leelomba's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have a somewhat close situation to your. Hy hubs has always been the cook in our home. I always clean up. So now, as he sends gluten over the kitchen. I wait a bit for the dust to settle. I go in. all dishes, pots. Silver go straight to dishwasher. Then out come the papertowels. Wipe everything down cupboards, counters, appliances, lower cupboards... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Nightmares- Literally!
GF Lover replied to Pauliewog's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Another way to end dreams or nightmares is to knock yourself out at bed time with a dose of trazadone. Yes it's a script but it is also very effective med to sleep, no nightmares, no nothing, just sleep. I Have blocked nightmares for many many years with this. Granted, it may be difficult to stop. I have not been able to stop and probably never stop -
IH, The timer idea is great especially since I already have my phone reminder set for four times a day for meds. And yes, throw the kale in the smoothie. Hubs is going to make me a big pot of the chicken and rice soup. I can freeze servings and pop it the microwave. What type of rice? Minute rice or a different rice. Good news is I grabbed...

Mushroom, I am so with you on IHOP, hurling. Juice is still tough on me so I kinda, maybe alot, stay away. Ban my sodas? I would certainly die on the spot On the plus side, I have a water bottle in my hand at all times and I do enjoy tea occasionally.
-
Hi CyberProf, Smoothies, this actually sounds doable to me. Hubs could whip up a batch in the morning. I'm assuming it would last all day. Would it keep overnight? And what about adding the protein powder to the smoothie instead? I will definitely talk to hubs about this.

I wash my scrubbers in the dishwasher, every one to two days. I use a separate one for my food but hubs sometimes forgets to use mine therefore the constant dishwasher trips for the scrubbers. It works well for me.

I don't have the same fear with liquids. For instance, my kitchen is the center of our condo, I pass one of the counters all day long. I put our fresh fruit there. So, I will get a bit jittery and know I need a bite. I will go up to the banana, know I need to eat it, even reach for it then bam, I grab a soda from the fridge instead. My usual go to...

Starting about 4 - 5 years ago I started to avoid food because of the pain it brought. My eating habits led to eating about once or twice a day. Post dx as of February, I have not been able to correct my food intake. I eat once a day and a very small amount. Even though food does not cause pain anymore, I have no appetite and avoid eating. Fast forward...

So, I'm driving into town yesterday afternoon. All of a sudden I am enveloped in a cloud of barley dust. The tractor was harvesting right next to the road when I came by. Of course my windows were open, it was a rare warm day. I knew right away that I would be on trouble, I could taste the barley in my mouth, and had no water in the car. I get...
