  1. I had both done at the same time My doc jokingly referred to it as "We'll go in one end, then flip ya over and go in the other end." My husband found that rather amusing. I didn't remember anything. I had a list of questions that I wanted answered that I had my husband ask. This was all waaaaay before we thought about Celiac (although it would have been nice...
  2. Jeepster, I was in a similar situation to yours. Had highly positive blood work, and was told to go on a gluten free diet immediately. Had the biopsy over a month later, (and there were issues with the biopsy not being done correctly, samples not being taken from more than one site, plus I had been sick for a relatively short time, etc,) and it came back...
  3. Thanks ladies. Our new insurance kicks in Oct 1st so hopefully I will have some luck.....Do you have any advice on pain-management? Advil etc doesn't seem to make a difference...
  4. I have been reading this and it sounds exactly like my symptoms...I've had it on and off for over a year and a half and lately it's been getting worse. At one point I was on Prednisone (it started after I had a bad case of mono...the infectious disease dr. said my rib cartilage was inflammed) but that was the least of my symptoms at the time (undiagnosed...
  5. Open Original Shared Link That is the drug company's website....They have some interesting information. Dr. Fassano works with them, which I thought was promising.

    ARCHIVED Applebees

I also worked at two Applebee's in PA throughout college. Still go in to visit friends and I've learned that most of their stuff is not safe. (I didn't have Celiac when I was there, thank goodness). Their chicken breasts have soy sauce included in their marinade, but they also have completely plain chicken breasts-just have to ask for them. At the Applebee...
  7. 1. Papa John's Pizza with ranch dipping sauce for the crusts 2. Chocolate Chip Bagel with loads of cream cheese from Irving's, a bagel shop at my alma mater, Penn State 3. my mom's homemade birthday cakes.....at least I can still have her homemade icing!
  8. I buy mine at our local "Farm Fresh" - grocery chain in Virginia. But, other local grocery stores don't carry them. Also, I get them at the local health food store near my parent's house near Harrisburg, PA. Most health food stores seem to be interested in ordering things if their customers want them, so it would be worth asking!
  9. I ate at the one in DC and LOVED it...had fried calamari....first time I've eaten something "breaded" at a restaurant in over a year. Can't wait to go back.
  10. I hope you feel better soon....I think we have all "tested" or at least thought about testing, so its not just you. Takes everyone different amounts of time to find what works for them. I never thought I could live with this diet, but when I went gluten free, I felt like I was handed my life back, literally. Now its my goal to stay as gluten free as possible...
  11. I ate out three times last week (celebrated getting a job, date with my husband, and lunch with my friend...usually don't eat out that much though!) at Pf Chang's, Don Pablo's, and a local restaurant and I had great experiences all three times-and I'm ultra sensitive and will know it very shortly after eating any gluten. Makes you feel a little more normal...
  12. Congratulations!! Please keep us updated along the way. I've been married a year, hopefully with children in the future (but not near future) and I enjoy hearing everyone's good news!
  13. How wonderful! Congratulations! I hope the nausea subsides quickly.....So happy for you!
  14. Wow! Congratulations! Your daughter is so precious!
  15. I don't have a whole ten to add as mine mainly consists of SLEEPING and.... 51. Have your darling significant other give you a massage....it is the only thing that helps my muscle/bone pain temporarily. Even for those w/o the pain, hey, you are still getting a massage from your sweetie! 52. After you've called your mom, call your grandma! "Older...
  16. Something that I use a lot is the Mccormick.com website. They are the company that makes a lot of the herbs, spices, and seasoning packets. In my opinion, they are really good about listing all their ingredients, even ONLINE. So if I find a recipe on there I like, I can check to see if the seasoning packet is safe. I like their tacos, enchiladas (with corn...
  17. It's nice to know that there are others out there that are young and living gluten free (or trying the best we can!). I've never met anyone with celiac disease so it makes me feel better to know that there are others like me
  18. Mmmmm, my grandma's potato salad is one of my favorite foods EVER! 5 cups of boiled potatoes (skin taken off, cut into chunks) 1 1/4 cup miracle whip 1 tbs vinegar 1 onion, finely chopped 2 tsp yellow mustard salt and pepper green olives/hardboiled eggs (I add both, depending on who likes what) After the potatoes are boiled, let them cool. Mix...
  19. I don't have a problem with distilled grains but I am extremely sensitive. I will know while at the dinner table (or wherever I'm eating) if I've been contaminated, etc.....the symptoms come on within 30 min and then just progress....
  20. I was given Bentyl also, and it 'helped' my symptoms some, i.e. calmed my stomach down. Once I've gone gluten free though, I have no symptoms unless I am glutened.
  21. All this talk of gingerbread cookies makes me hungry! Which brand or recipe did you use (the gluten-free pantry?) and is it good? Happy to hear his cookie experience went well
  22. I'm not a fan of Kraft dressings either, but I use a lot of the "Newman's Own."
  23. Welcome to the board! If you are looking for info and support, this board is definitely great.
