  1. Hi jkpg, Welcome to the board. I hope you are able to find some much needed answers. In order for proper testing of Celiac, you must be eating a normal gluten filled diet. If no one has a doctor that they recommend, it may help to contact local support groups for ideas. GIG Open Original Shared Link CDF Open Original Shared Link CSA...
  2. From: Open Original Shared Link Celiac Disease vs. Gluten Sensitivity By Tricia Thompson, MS, RD, the gluten free dietitian "When I first started working in this field, the term gluten sensitivity was used interchangeably with the term celiac disease
  3. The Center for Celiac Research (www.celiaccenter.org) holds walks every year, and different cities hold them in conjunction with it. Open Original Shared Link For local events, your best bet would be to contact your local support group (either through GIG, CDF, or CSA) and see what is going on in your community.
  4. Welcome to the board! Has your doctor re-run your Celiac panel (bloodwork) or re-done your endoscopy to check the healing? If not, that may be an important first step.
  5. This recipe was listed in the Harrisburg GIG newsletter: Recipe from Connie Sarros' July '08 glutenfree newsletterette. (www.gfbooks.homestead.com) Mock Soy Sauce 1/4 c vegan, gluten-free, soy free broth 1/2 tsp molasses 1/4 tsp balsamic vinegar 1/8 tsp salt (sea salt if you have it on hand) 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  6. The edit button for each of your own posts only stays open for a few hours now - the reports seem to vary on how long it is 'open.'
  7. Keep in mind not all alcohol originally comes from a gluten source, as well.
  8. Just wanted to welcome you to the board! Celiac can present in a variety of ways - from no symptoms at all ('silent Celiac') to debilitating symptoms....and then everywhere else on the spectrum. Celiac has been linked to the three symptoms you've listed. With the gluten free diet, you may see those improve. You may see things improve that you didn...
  9. (slight diversion from Jason's original post) regarding a 'pill' for potential cross contamination - there is one under clinical trials. Open Original Shared Link
  10. www.glutino.com has good crackers that you can order online. Some grocery stores have 'rice crackers' in the asian/specialty foods section that are gluten free. A lot of people substitute Tostitos or Fritos as 'crackers.' Open Original Shared Link has many gluten free foods to order. www.celiac.com as well. Josef's graham crackers. I've tried...
  11. One of Richard (lovegrov) tips - "For pizza, I bake a corn tortilla some, put on regular pizza toppings and then heat some more. I actually like it better than gluten-free pizza crust, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper." Open Original Shared Link
  12. If you have specific foods/recipes you would like converted, post those and I'm sure others will pop in with a good substitute/safe brand, recipe, or ideas.
  13. I don't think you are overreacting when you are being proactive about you and your family's health, especially when you realized the ped GI you saw was going by the 'old thoughts' on Celiac in children. Now that you know what you know about Celiac, its proactive to be tested for it. This way, regardless of the results, you will know. The answer will...
  14. It can indicate either.
  15. Another idea is to see a nutritionist/dietician famillar with Celiac that can help you analyze your daily intake and help guide your next steps.
  16. Can you get a copy of your bloodwork and post what tests were run, your results, and the reference ranges? Can you get a copy of your endoscopy report, and post the findings, including how many biopsies were taken? The answer is, yes, depending on a variety of factors, you could still have Celiac. You could have a non-Celiac gluten problem, or a problem...
  17. I think you should talk to your doctor about the question you have. Tell her your concerns - you have seen literature that states one thing, and she says something else. Can she explain why she thinks it isn't important? Also, before your biopsy, ask your doctor how many biopsies they plan to take.
  18. If you have diagnosed Celiac Disease, the current digestive enzymes on the market are not advised.

  20. You are very welcome You can always google "gluten free drugs" and it is usually the first one that pops up. Its maintained by a pharmacist. No one site is 100% accurate, so use it as a guide. 21. General Mills has a policy of clearly labeling all gluten containing ingredients, and not "hiding" them. See their policy at: Open Original Shared Link Based on their policy and reading the label at the link you provided, it looks to be gluten free - I would eat it.
  22. Deb, I know this is late, but I'm happy you had such a special day!
  23. Could you share the article --- what did they mean when they said 'neurological'?
  24. This was either the antigliadin IgA or IgG test. They are not as sensitive or specific to Celiac as some of the other tests - particularly the tTG-IgA or EMA IgA. But, the AGA tests are still useful in some cases. The IgA test that he ran is the overall antibody production. If you are IgA deficient, you 'can't' test positive on the IgA based tests...
