  1. I've been gluten-free since July 11 and doing quite well... My main issues are neuro, pain.... I will have "flares" of swelling & excruciating pain which, so far, can attack feet, hands, wrists, knees, shoulders. The "flare" usually affects only one particular location (a hand, a knee, etc) at the time and lasts about 24 to 36 hours. For...
  2. Jestgar, Yes! I added cocoa to the last batch and then drizzled with Baker's chocolate... (he's been eating them so fast I can barely keep up). They keep well in the freezer, too. I wrap them individually so he can just grab and go...
  3. Open Original Shared Link Don't know if you're interested in making your own but... I've made these and the kid LOVES them... The best part is I can make them with the stuff he like. And sooo easy! I, also, made the last batch and added a scoop of his protein mix that he uses for his workout shakes... He likes these (with the exception of...
  4. Araceli... Stop eating gluten... You've been diagnosed so that's not even a question mark for you. With that said... I have heart palpitations as well. I've been gluten-free since July 11 and already I see a huge improvement. I take atenolol for the palpitations (twice a day)... However, I've not really felt I need the dose at night. I will...
  5. Hi Melissa... I am not sure that I can be much help to you...but, I am going to try... To me, it's not feeling like a freak...it's normal... And, I have a hard time relating to the feeling of "being deprived" and the urge to "cheat" that I read, so often, in here. Please, don't take that to mean that I don't empathize...I totally do! It's just...
  6. Interesting thread... Personally, I get far "more" out of these discussions than I do with the nicey-nice-politically-correct ones (I don't feel like I can really trust what's being said in the latter)... While I agree that better labeling would help some people, it would not others... I wouldn't trust it... Being knowledgeable is the best, imo. ...
  7. Now, the kid would LOVE these! Oh boy... What oil did you fry the chicken in?
  8. Desperatelady, Thanks for this...it, really, does help to hear about improvement...
  9. Davemu, You've tried gluten free for "some months"? I'm confused... Your profile indicates you've been a member since'04...and, per your posts in'04, you were getting tested back then... Did you test negative in'04? And, as a result, decide to not go gluten free? Are you having symptoms now (as you state you're, now, considering endoscopy). When...
  10. Adelaide, That edit is flipping hysterical. .lmbo
  11. Wow, RuskitD... Very compelling...thanks so much for sharing that! Truly great advice...
  12. Kam43, Don't feel bad for venting...most of us can understand the need to do so...you're among "friends" here when it comes to that! 1) From all that I've been reading, yes, many new food intolerances are discovered and are temporary. I'm only 3 weeks in and haven't come across any (yet...lol)...but, I've, also, been pretty restrictive. ...
  13. Codetalker, Very interesting to hear how different people deal with this. I have to say, though, that I've found the complete opposite... People don't look at the level of exposure as proportional to the severity of the reaction. In fact, most folks' eyes have the tendency to have their eyes glaze over (it's quite clear they're tuning me out...lol) until...
  14. True... Many just don't "get it" when you say gluten intolerance...
  15. Good example... It would be nice, helpful to some even, to have links/source references for statements similar to this... And, from what I've seen, simply asking, "hey, squirming, can you, possibly, tell us where you came across this information?". Then the link/source provided (or not) and we can read and decide the validity for ourselves. However...
  16. Jestgar, Is there anything, in this thread, to infer that Troy (or others) are presenting scientific fact or merely opinions based upon the totality of their own research/investigative efforts? If there was a statement such as: " I just read this study...etc, etc" or " a recent study...etc, etc" then it would seem reasonable to ASK for such source data...
  17. Oh and Dave, If you find my response to you "emotional", I would suggest you do a bit of self-reflection...it was anything but. I am, simply, telling you two very important things: 1. This forum, while filled with a LOT of information and opinion, is NOT your neighborhood convenience store. No one-stop shopping will provide anyone with enough information...
  18. I would suggest that you do more "googling" as the rest of us have... There is quite a bit of info in these forums which link to far more current "studies". It is, however, up to you to do more research. And, yes, you were quite vehement in your position/support of your facts"...gleaned from "first hits" no less... Everyone here is more than willing...
  19. "Dung beetles lunch"... LMBO... I am sooo going to use that!
  20. Dave, Do you realize that you are referencing a study that is dated 2006? And, this study uses citations of studies dating from 1983 to 2004??? To further complicate things and to call into question the "results" of your referenced study is the pure and simple fact that one must then analyze the data and methodology of these SIGNIFICANTLY DATED citations...
  21. Joy... First concern would be where you are in your recovery from the tumor... Your doc can advise you on that. My thinking (and I'm certainly not a doctor...just someone who went the immuno-suppressant road for my supposed RA (rheumatoid arthritis) for the past 4 years...is that you are possibly (probably?) having such a monsoon of autoimmune...
  22. I cried like a baby...still am truth be told. I know, firsthand, what you feel... I'm there... I've been "dying" for the last few years. Can't tell you how many times I've said, "I probably won't 'be here'"..."I just want...blah blah blah...while I still can...", etc, etc. And, of course, I'd get the obligatory "you'll be fine"..."you're not going...
  23. Personally, I believe that some day they're going to "discover" that the "required" genes are nothing more than genes which show a predisposition to celiac... I, also, believe that far more people are not dx because of this...folks who never "find out" what's wrong with them. The tests, imo, are just not good enough... It's like the scientific community...
