  1. I've been researching xantham and guar gums... Have to say that it sounds absolutely disgusting (a "mold" derived on the surface of corn (etc) for the purpose gluten replacement)... Can't see myself using it...which is a shame/dilemma since most of the gluten free baking recipes I find use them...
  2. I apologize, in advance, if this has been asked (answered) somewhere already (I tried the search feature on the forum...no success)... It would be helpful, to me, if I could "narrow down" some brands/flavors to investigate some commercial salad dressings that are gluten-free that others, here, eat... So...can anyone tell me of any commercial/store...
  3. Not to mention... no hand washing and sticking hands in the croutons...dressing... what else? Think I'm just going to eat at mi casa for a while...lmbo
  4. I will add this: While researching I came across this info from my pharmacist: "generics", especially OTC meds, will be the most likely to either change ingredients or suppliers of ingredients or processing practices. His explanation was, "because of the never-ending need for their products to remain cheap". Though he was not trying to steer me away from...
  5. I've been buying (and will continue to) local, grass-fed beef... But, I have to say...the while injected-beef thing sounds really awful... I'd like to know if it's true and, if so, where and what beef?
  6. The only reliable way (that I've found) is to check with the manufacturer of the specific medicine...
  7. Hi Missingno! I am very happy for you...
  8. Lisa... I am not interested for myself (no interest in this candy)... I was just curious that the CC discussion had not come up...that's all...
  9. I found this blog post (with some interesting study data. Addresses gluten sensitivity and celiac. Also, addresses testing and had some very interesting stats! Personally, I am coming to believe that gluten sensitivity is nothing more than "pre-celiac" (before the gut has been significantly damaged) or celiac which just hasn't been identified. I...
  10. The question that I keep coming up with has to do with the "significance" of the usage of the word(s) "ingredient(s)"... I keep seeing similar disclaimers/statements from companies regarding their products not having gluten in the "ingredients"... My question is about processing...the facility/equipment....is it used for gluten products? I read about...
  11. Renee... Good for you... Hopefully, your actions will get you the answers you are looking for... I would like to say, though, that his cavalier attitude (McDonald's) at the end is just another example of how completely "ignorant" the medical community is regarding food/autoimmune issues... Not "stupid"..."ignorant"... Sad...
  12. What are you eating? Where are you eating? How vigilant are you being? Vitamin deficiencies? Have you checked your medications for gluten? Have you tested your thyroid? The list of questions (as I've been learning) goes on...
  13. Nicole... Thanks for the response... I find this particular discussion very interesting...
  14. IrishHeart... Excellent post!
  15. Excellent question! Personally...knowing what I know now...I would ABSOLUTELY raise my son gluten-free... Without a doubt in my mind... I agree with those who said they don't see it as a "punishment"... There's a lot to learn...yes. Takes more effort...yes. Challenging...for sure. BUT IT IS HEALTHIER. Of course, if you are just "substituting"...
  16. Troy... That really IS great news! Now, you can recover... Congratulations!
  17. Mommida... puberty? Sweet! My son is 17 now (college in September...though he will be living at home since we're only 7 minutes from the college...yes, he LOVES this plan...lol). The only difference I see in 17 and 13 is the drivers license...
  18. How old are they? Time for a nap...or perhaps involuntary down-time? :/
  19. Mommida... I am so sad to hear about the loss of your friends... So young... My thoughts are with you...
  20. May I ask what you seasoned the ground turkey with?
  21. MysteryDiagnosis2012... Did you happen to read where I wrote that MY feelings are not specific to YOU? We are all here for support...but, also for the communication of our feelings and/or ideas. I'm sorry that you don't care for mine but, it seems to me that if you are just looking for everyone to agree with you all the time...in the name of "support...
  22. Thanks Mom2... So, my next question is for the moms above... Were you gluten free while breastfeeding?
  23. Melanie... Brag away...we won't get tired of hearing good news!
  24. Kareng... I agree... I would like to add: If he was diabetic, would you allow him to make his choices (at 7 yrs old)? I know it's difficult but, would you? "Mom" is, usually, the first line of defense against the bogeyman...in sickness, the disease is the bogeyman... Tough decisions are not popular or easy...especially during the time when they are...
  25. Interesting discussion... I am curious though about the "protective benefits" of breastfeeding in relation to celiac/gluten intolerance.... I was under the impression that gluten would be present via the breastmilk...???
