ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thats how exactly how I felt too. Why should I have to live my life avoiding just about everything?? Especially since I wasnt born this way. I wasnt necessarily looking to get treated so that I could eat these foods again. I was more looking to find out *why* I cant eat all of these foods and fix the problem...whatever it might be. So many things can... -

Really?? Did you get worse results? I didnt think I did well at all.....those are all the foods I reacted to in my initial testing but I havent got treated yet. It looks like spices might be my next treatment. Not very exciting. -

Dang....I really wanna be able to eat avocados!!! I LOVE them...but they mess me up REALLY bad. I havent been treated for anything yet (foodwise)...except the wheat....which I dont think will clear and I'm NOT gonna eat it....EVER! The lady didnt even mention trying to eat it again.....she said to stay away from it....by body does NOT like it. ... -
ARCHIVED Gut Article: Leaky Gut May Occur From Gluten Even In Absence Of Celiac Disease
Rachel--24 replied to Nancym's topic in Publications & Publicity
A long time ago I had read that candida and gluten are similar in structure and can mimic each other....so that candida can actually trigger the immune response to attack gluten at the same time it is producing antibodies to fight off the yeast. I didnt believe it. Now I am curious....since I've been off gluten so long...still have leaky gut and... -

ARCHIVED Gut Article: Leaky Gut May Occur From Gluten Even In Absence Of Celiac Disease
Rachel--24 replied to Nancym's topic in Publications & Publicity
So maybe DH *does* have a connection with leaky gut because I just found this... So I think that since Leaky Gut is relatively new....they dont know anything for certain. It seems that all of their studies re: zonulin center around Celiac Disease because celiac disease so far is the best model system for understanding zonulin and how it opens the... -
ARCHIVED Gut Article: Leaky Gut May Occur From Gluten Even In Absence Of Celiac Disease
Rachel--24 replied to Nancym's topic in Publications & Publicity
DH would be an idicator of Celiac Disease. I could be wrong but I dont think there is a connection between DH and leaky gut. -
I had it for a long time...some days it was worse than others...but always there to some extent. It started after antibiotics but never went away until I was on the candida diet. I took nystatin also and I think it helped. Other good antifunglas are garlic and grapefruitseed extract. Dont take the suspension liquid nystatin. It doesnt help and its sweetened...

ARCHIVED Gut Article: Leaky Gut May Occur From Gluten Even In Absence Of Celiac Disease
Rachel--24 replied to Nancym's topic in Publications & Publicity
Yeah...I'm ALOT better from how I was 2 years ago....posting on the thyroid board. I go to work everyday and noone can tell that I'm sick or anything but my gut is still VERY leaky and I react to nearly all foods chemicals and environmental allergens. They suspected maybe I have a serious candida issue. They tested me and the results came back last... -

Donna...thats great that you dont have Lyme!! Did nothing show up on that panel for you?? Sheeeesh...I guess I was kinda hoping that the test was overly sensitive and just picks it up in alot of people...so maybe I dont actually have it. The last week or so I dont have Lyme....in my mind I came to that conclusion. Now that you tested negative... -

Nancy...I couldnt access the link but I think its something that has been discussed here before....about zonulin opening the gates...so to speak. I've been thinking about this alot latey because I have severe leaky gut. Positive tTG through Enterolab and high malabsorption (913). I still have severe leaky gut after nearly 2 years gluten-free. Recent... -

Ditto on this statement! Lauralee, I wasted 2 1/2 years going to my regular Dr.'s who werent helping at all. All the tests were coming back normal and at some point they decided it was all in my head. It was the most frusterating time of my life and the stress of it all was only worsening my symptoms. In the first year I started looking up... -

A quick drive-by. I was dying to hear about Donna's appt. and was away from the computer all day. I have some catching up to do now. Lauralee, Welcome....glad you decided to post. I'll be back later...gotta surrender the computer again. I read your post and will respond later. Lots of things come to mind but first...after going... -
Great idea Lisa, I have the same problems with reading big paragraphs and usually will have to skim through it. I always break up my posts and I very much appreciate it when others do the same. I cant focus on big chunks of words and it hurts my head. On the Lyme board I visit they request that all people post like this....with no long...

Donna, I had my scope at Kaiser. Dr. R did a CT scan barium thing where he saw the ovarian cyst and the impacted stool and then he did the colonoscopy that wasnt 100% because he couldnt get around a sharp turn. So yeah...I dont trust Kaiser. The GI I saw at Kaiser was in the same office as the Infectious Disease Specialist that I despise... -

Thanks Laura! So maybe I didnt fabricate the whole thing afterall. I *totally* want to see the pictures if they exist...should they still be in my file or something?? I wonder if my new Dr. can request them....or any of the other stuff I've had done?? I dont think I was dreaming...I think I woke up for a second and I saw them. Of course.... -

Andrea, Do you know if Patti ever tried any natural remedies to get rid of the fibroids?? I think they can probably go away since stuff can heal if you do the right things....but yeah....we dont always know what the "right" things are. Who knows....maybe gluten could have caused her fibroids too?? I think she only got diagnosed with Celiac last year... -

Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Does anyone know if immediately after the endoscopy the GI has the pictures from the procedure available to him?? Are there pictures?? The reason I'm asking is because when I woke up from my endoscopy I could *swear* the first thing I saw was the GI standing next to me with the pictures in his hand. The pictures were in his hand so they were eye level... -
ARCHIVED Is My Doctor Right?
Rachel--24 replied to Peta's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Your son would have one copy of each gene...a DQ2 and a DQ8. They are both Celiac genes and you are correct in saying that having the genes does not mean that he has Celiac....as the Dr. is suggesting. I agree with Tiffany though....if he has symptoms he may have Celiac and had false negatives in the testing. You could try the diet but wait until after... -

Yeah...I might be really tempted to do an experiment one day. Right now I have fear in me...but if that dissapates...who knows what I might do. I think more toward the beginning of this thread I was doing lots of experiments on myself....trying to figure stuff out. I'm kind of glad I've gone into a new phase....the BioSET testing is alot safer....and... -

Yeah....I could do that. I've been heating up my applesauce in the microwave too but I'm thinking of using a pot instead. Its not as convenient but its not soooo terrible....I'm sure I could do it. I also cook my potatoes in the microwave....so yeah....3 out of 5 foods go in the microwave. I can boil the potatoes but it takes like 20 minutes... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (modified)
Rachel--24 replied to Calicat's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I tried it. I did a very very modified SCD diet for about 2 weeks. I was all gung-ho about it. I got the book and read alot on her website but I actually did worse on the diet. I was reacting to the foods that I was trying to start out with. I never made it past the "intro".....so basically I gave up. I remember one person here who always praised the... -

Donna....when all that was happenning I wasnt really convinced it was caused by food but now thinking back...it wasnt happenning *before* I ate the crackers and it isnt happenning now. I guess it did happen occassionally over the past couple years but not on a consistant day to day basis like it was during that time....when I was Racheling those stupid... -

Yeah....they probably *do* know each other!! Anna told me that there are only a couple other people who are practicing the same stuff as far as treating the detox pathways and such. I believe she said they were all here in CA. She said the other Bioset practitioners basically only treat the food sensitivities and stuff like that. You said that your lady does... -

We did the wheat panel last night at BioSET which I thought was kind of lame at first...mainly cuz I'm not gonna eat it. I wanted to be cleared for foods that I *can* eat. So the first half of the panel was all enzymes...the enzymes used in breaking down and digesting gliadin. The second half was all the stuff in food which contains wheat/gluten. ...
