  1. I had stool tests done through my HMO but they would only check for Giardia (sp?). They wouldn't check for anything else. I went to an outside lab and had a stool test for parasites, bacteria, etc...It came back normal. My new doctor ordered the stool test from a different lab and I came back positive for the C. Diff....looked at my old test results...
  2. I have my next appt. tonite. I've been going every Monday night. I was tested for parasites, yeasts, and bacteria overgrowth in a stool test. I had no parasites but ended up positive for the C. Diff toxin A and a light candida overgrowth. I look forward to my appt. later....as usual I'll have a million questions. I dont know why but I have no diarreah...which...
  3. Your husband should definately take probiotics while on antibiotics. Everyone should do this but...like you...I had no idea what probiotics were and now I'm paying for it. Probiotics are "friendly bacteria" that will replace whats being killed off with antibiotics. The antibiotics dont only kill bad bacteria but good as well. Without the good bacteria bad...
  4. Ahhh...so thats how you stumbled onto the site. I think we had decided back then that the malt diastase was safe after all. Kaiti was taking those same vitamins with the malt diastase and never had a problem. I had a problem but in case noones noticed by now...I have problems with *lots* of things. Lots of products list malt diastase as an ingredient...
  5. Judy, Yeah....C. Diff has been in the news recently I believe. Its a problem in hospitals and nursing homes or for anyone on antibiotics. I was reading over 100 people died from it in a hospital in Canada. Since I wasnt in the hospital or a nursing home when I got sick I had to of gotten it from taking antibiotics after my dental work. I only...
  6. Definately not long enough for accurrate test results. If you feel bad eating gluten and then feel good off of it I'd say you already have your answer but if you need testing to be convinced...then I'd say at least 3 months eating plenty of gluten everyday.
  7. Those can all be symptoms of Celiac Disease. If the test results come back negative I would still highly recommend trying the diet anyway. Not everyone on here had positive blood tests but had very positive response to the diet. The tests arent always 100% accurrate. Good luck.
  8. LMAO!! I wish I had one...sure beats having nothing at all!! Kinda hurts to sit down.

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

Judy, Sorry, I started a new thread about the C. Diff. I don't know what antibiotics they'll be giving me yet. This could be the main thing thats holding me back from full recovery but will have to see what happens with the antibiotics. I havent gained much weight since going gluten-free in April and I still cant eat alot of stuff which goes along with...
  10. So true. When I was the most scared I would never find answers I prayed and asked God to just lead me in the right direction for a dx....no matter what it was...I just wanted an answer. Everytime I had these desperate moments where I was losing strength something positive would happen to steer me closer to a dx. The latest was finding this great new doctor...
  11. I know, I know...I really have to stop reading that stuff. I dont know why I torture myself that way. Thanks for your prayers. I hope all goes well with your appt. on Tues. Judy, I'm sorry. I started a new thread last week when I got the dx. I guess you missed it. Here's the link. Open Original Shared Link
  12. This is true for me as well. The cravings go away when I keep on a high protein diet w/out sugar.
  13. I'm glad the mass lifted your spirits. I'm a believer that everything happens for a reason so you were meant to hear those stories at mass today of all days. Don't give up on the positive thinking...its going to get you through this. I'm glad you found the strength to go to mass after having a rough night. See....I knew you were a fighter. I...
  14. Do your symptoms worsen after eating all the sugar? If so...this could be a sign of bacterial overgrowth or yeast overgrowth. Bad bacteria feed off of sugar so it would cause cravings in that situation.
  15. I still cant use the reply function and still get a "website not responding" page.
  16. Judy, What a great story! Thanks for sharing. JnkMnky, I prayed for you last night and will continue to do so until you feel better. Hang in there and gather strength from those who care about you.
  17. I have no interest in dealing with the complaint process against my HMO but when I think of that one appt. with the Infectious Disease guy I really want him to know he failed at his job because he wasnt *listening*. I want him to know how wrong he was and I want something to be done about it. In my opinion he should not be responsible for the care of sick...
  18. That is EXACTLY true. I've seen that "deer in the headlights" look too many times to count. The happiest moment for me was getting out of my HMO...I feel so free now. The first doctor I end up seeing turns out to be more of a naturopath. I did not know this when I scheduled the appt....just got his name off a flyer in a healthstore. I finally feel like...
  19. Too funny Debmidge! I'll be back later....I have to go do taxes now.
  20. YEAH!!! Love the new title Nini. Great idea.
  21. LOL....I wanted to ask the same thing.
  22. JnkMnky, I'll say some prayers for you and your kids. I hope you feel better soon.
  23. Doctors think I might have H. Pylori but I'm still waiting on the test results. I get those hunger pains alot but I also have days with no appetite at all. I was just diagnosed with C. Diff so I think thats whats causing me to have no appetite but I just seem to go back and forth with this.
  24. Yeah...I agree. They really don't like patients who go in already having an idea of whats wrong. I don't know why but if you tell them what you think is wrong most of the time they'll disagree....but at the same time they don't really try that hard to figure out what it *could* be. This sort of leaves the patient with no other option but to self-diagnose...
  25. Armetta, From your posts you don't seem "dumbed down" to me. You seem quite intelligent. I definately know how you feel about being unorganized or not all there. I have plenty of days like that. I also put off paying bills because it takes too much concentration and causes headache. I'm tons better after gluten-free but still need much improvement. I...
