ARCHIVED Questions About Entrolab?
Rachel--24 replied to Lollie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Good luck!! I got tested after 4 months off gluten and was positive in all areas but with no Celiac gene. I have 2 intolerance genes. Enterolab cannot offically diagnose Celiac...it will just tell you if you're immune system is responding negatively to gluten and if you posess the gene to develop Celaic or not. -
ARCHIVED Dermatitis Herpetiformis Is An Allergy!
Rachel--24 replied to skurtz's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I'm sorry...were you referring to Dermatitis Herpitiformis or just dermatitis? DH is specific to gluten only and its not an allergy just as celiac is not an allergy. My earlier post was just giving an example of how info. on the internet can be worded incorrectly. Has your son been diagnosed with DH or are you not quite sure what the rash is exactly? Food... -
ARCHIVED Mcd Fries 2: The Phone Calls :)
Rachel--24 replied to ryebaby0's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I think people should just trust what their body is telling them. If they've had problems with the fries...stay away from them. If you have never experienced symptoms from eating the fries and you *know* how your body responds to gluten..then I'd guess its safe to eat the fries. I'm sure plenty of people who've been eating the fries with no problems have... -
ARCHIVED Dermatitis Herpetiformis Is An Allergy!
Rachel--24 replied to skurtz's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Claire...thanks for the clarification. I thought for a moment I was giving out wrong information. Skurtz, Claire is right...you have to beware of some of the things you read. In many places on the web Celiac Disease can be described as an allergy to gluten but that information is false and misleading. -
No....DH is not an allergy. Its caused by gluten intolerance/celiac disease. I'm pretty sure it can be diagnosed by a dermatologist with a skin biopsy. People with DH must adhere to the gluten free diet to avoid the rash.

ARCHIVED Testing/ Son Is Going In For Biopsy & Blood Testing
Rachel--24 replied to skurtz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
LOL....No, you're *not* Rachel....you're Cornholio!! Stop stealing my answers Cornholio! DH is a skin condition associated ONLY with Celiac Disease. If your son has DH then he would most definately need to remain gluten-free 100% as its the only cure for DH. -
You cannot use that option. You can post an avatar but the personal photo function is not enabled.

ARCHIVED Mcd Fries 2: The Phone Calls :)
Rachel--24 replied to ryebaby0's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I'm with you on this one. This is pretty much how I'm taking it. Nobody really knows whats going on yet so I'm just gonna chill for now. I cant eat the fries anyway so I'm not missing out right now. Who knows maybe the fries dont really have any gluten in them...as McDonalds claims. I'm sure they can be tested to solve this matter once and for all. Maybe... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Been Glutened By Nestle Hot Cocoa Mix?
Rachel--24 replied to danikali's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Judy, Some reactions are dose related...meaning if you eat something one day you may not react but if you eat it 3 days in a row or large quantities of it in one sitting you may get a reaction. Its why its very difficult to pinpoint intolerances. They arent always consistent. -
ARCHIVED Probitics Question
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hmmm...maybe I'll check that one out on my weekly trip to Whole Foods. I wonder what makes some probiotics better than others? I recall reading that some probiotics don't even contain any living organisms in them...so you can take them all day long but nothing will happen cuz they're totally useless. I wanna make sure whatever brand I get has... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
Rachel--24 replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
WOAH!!! 20 pages and nearly 300 posts later I'm learning about this for the first time! I'm actually more shocked about that than I am about the dang fries having gluten in them. I havent eaten the fries in over a year but McDonalds was my all-time favorite restaraunt in my healthy days. I kept thinking when I'm healed at least I'll be able to... -
ARCHIVED What If You Don't Go Gluten Free
Rachel--24 replied to jodikris's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think once you realize the consequences of ignoring the diet and commit yourself to staying healthy...you'll find that its not that bad to stay off gluten. There are plenty of gluten-free options available to us. I second the suggestion to read "Dangerous Grains"....it will give you a very good idea of what gluten is doing to your health. There are so many... -
ARCHIVED Probitics Question
Rachel--24 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
None of the probiotics I've taken have made too much of a difference. I recently found out I have at least one bacteria infection so that may be why nothings helped. I start treatment w/ antibiotics next week and want to take a really good probiotic. I've heard Culturelle is good. Anyone know where I can get some? If you know of another brand which is equally... -
ARCHIVED Very Sick Teenager
Rachel--24 replied to michelle4boys's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, I never had diarreah either. Don't let the doctor tell you that w/out diarreah you cant have celiac...its not true. My doctor said the same thing...they are just misinformed. -
Have you had your thyroid checked?

Before I'd heard of Celiac Disease I was on Curezone everyday....trying to "cure" myself.

ARCHIVED Ugh! Why Am I Still So Stupid?
Rachel--24 replied to VydorScope's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I thought this thread was going to be about brain-fog! Because of the brain-fog I'm constsantly asking myself "why am I still so stupid?" I was WAY off...anyways I have my own seperate pots and pans at my own home and for Christmas my Mom got me another set to use when I'm at her house. It works out great. -
Nancy, I go to a clinic called HealthNow and all the tests they have run have been through Biohealth Diagnostics. Its out of the mainstream and the doctors use functional tests and functional medicine. So far for me its been an awesome experience...makes me wonder how all the people I've seen previously can even call themselves doctors. I'm finally getting...

Thomas, Great post!! Thank you....I really needed to hear that today. I'm going to take your advice on this. I end up exhausting myself with all my research. I do have faith in the doctor so I'll just let him do his thing. Also God has been helping me through this from day one so I couldn't be in better hands. I will try to have more patience...

Thanks guys! I'll be in better spirits after I get some sleep. I'm really super tired tonight so its bringing me down I think. Thanks for your support...I felt better reading your posts.

Well...I'm back from my appt. and not too happy. I kind of lagged on taking my test for H. Pylori so the lab didnt get my sample until today. Too soon to know the results. The doctor said he will not give me antibiotics for the C. Diff until he knows whether I have H. Pylori or not. I have major brain-fog tonite so I may not of understood him correctly...

LOL...I know what you mean. I could go on and on when it comes to this particular subject.
