  1. Aint that the truth! I guess life was too easy for me the first 3 decades so now I'm making up for it all in the last 3 years. BUT... I was definately given a break when I found you guys!
  2. I know my mind is ready...just waiting for my body to catch up now. For anyone interested my doctor gave me the wrong meds. She didnt give me the antibiotic (Flagyl) which is what I need to be taking for C-Diff. She gave me some kind of anti-protazoal agent which clearly states on the instruction sheet that it is NOT effective in treating infections...
  3. Having a gene doesnt mean you have, or will ever get, Celiac. Many many people carry a celiac gene and most of those people never actually end up developing the disease. Blood tests, biopsy and most of all response to diet are better indicators.
  4. The higher the anti-gliadin # the more gluten you've been eating and you're immune system is responding with anti-bodies. The numbers go down when you arent eating any gluten which is why you need to always test while NOT on a gluten free diet to avoid false negatives. As far as the tTG...I'm not really sure if a higher # indicates more damage...I've seen...
  5. Just wanted to say you have a GREAT attitude. I look at this in a similar light...I don't feel sorry for myself and I just do what I gotta do to stay healthy. I think constantly focusing on stuff I cant have would definately bring me down so I dont do it...I focus on what I can have and get on with my day. P.S. Even though we are all nice gluten-free...
  6. Getting back to the topic...I agree with Debmidge and Chelse. I'm not in a relationship right now because I would like to take care of myself first and get my health back on track. When I do make that step I would never expect that person to not eat gluten foods in front of me...even if its pizza. I dont think you should be made to feel guilty for not having...
  7. When the numbers are elevated it means you have anti-gliadin antibodies in your bloodstream. It basically means your immune system is "attacking" gluten. A positive tTG means that there is damage to your tissue as a result of the "attack".
  8. As previously posted a positive biopsy = Celiac. While you were following the diet strictly you allowed yourself to heal...probably not 100% but you were well on your way. Going off the diet you may not have noticed symptoms returning right away but the damage was taking place and now you've probably started to feel the effects of it. The flattened villi...
  9. Be careful with raw nuts in the bulk bins because those may be contaminated from other products containing wheat.
  10. I agree... you need to be on the diet. Celiac doesn't go into "remission"...you may not feel like its there...but it is and it still does damage and it will catch up to you.
  11. Yeah they were gone all summer when I only ate meat and veggies. My headaches dont make me feel dizzy though. No I didnt have positive blood or biopsy. My bloodwork was 2 weeks after starting the diet. It was negative so I went back to eating gluten and forgot about it but I got very sick and a couple months later I wasnt able to get out of bed and had...
  12. LOL....thats funny. Glad you got diagnosed. Welcome to the board!
  13. Thanks Ian! You're one of the people on here who pretty much never complains about life after gluten. Well how could you...new girl, new job, great health! I love how positive you are about the diet. We shared similar symptoms and circumstances and hopefully soon I'll have great health too....and some of that "bonus" stuff wouldn't be so bad either.
  14. I just started my antibiotics. I'm not taking Flagyl. They gave me Tinitazole. Its very new....it wasnt even in the pharmacist's computer yet. I guess its sorta related to Flagyl but with less side-effects....but they did say I'd probably get a metallic taste in my mouth. I just hope it works. Are you doing anything for the Candida? They just told me that...
  15. Umm...yes. However did you figure that one out? Don't even get me started on that. Thank God in Heaven above that I'm no longer a member.
  16. The stool test is suppossed to be much more sensitive than the blood test. Hopefully the tests are right and I dont have it and never get it. I think since every test was negative it can be safely ruled out. Plus I have no ulcers (that I know of) and I really dont have stomach pain. I have mild abdominal pain. I guess its abdominal...I dunno...its...
  17. You would need to see an allergist to get tested for a wheat allergy. They can test for it with a blood sample or a skin-prick test. An allergy would give you immediate symptoms...you would get a noticeable reaction everytime you ate wheat. An intolerance is different because the reaction is not always noticeable right after you eat something....the reaction...
  18. The Delphi list is very helpful. Here's the steps for downloading. 1) Go to the website, Open Original Shared Link 2) Click on "messages" or "start reading" 3) Select the folder "gluten-free Product List" 4) Click on the topic called "Downloadable files word" 5) Of the four options, choose the one in the upper right. You may need to register (the...
  19. An allergy and an intolerance are two different things. You can learn alot from just reviewing some of the older threads on this forum. Just do a search and you should find plenty on the subject of gluten intolerance vs. allergy. Also I would highly recommend getting the book "Dangerous Grains" Its very informative.
  20. Nope....yeast is gluten-free.
  21. Timber, That was really sweet of your husband! I got all choked up reading your story. I'm glad your hubby found a way to brighten your day. Sounds like you really did have the best Valentine's ever!
  22. I actually dont have H. Pylori. They checked for it during my biopsy and both my blood and stool were negative. If I *did* have it the doc had already explained the treatment to me. It was probably what you had...some kind of triple treatment. There were 3 drugs involved but I lucked out in testing negative cuz now I only need to take one antibiotic for the...
  23. For me, I'm pretty sure its from intolerances from my immune system being all whacked out right now and from leaky gut.
  24. Are you getting bad symptoms when you eat gluten? If it were me and I *wasnt* in too much discomfort...I'd eat it for alot longer than one week to get the most accurate test results. I was off gluten for 2 weeks before testing and the tests were negative. Once I was gluten-free for awhile I was never able to go back on it to retest because my symptoms were...
  25. Yeah...MSG is poison.
