  1. A positive tTG (even a weak positive) is indicative of Celiac. The next logical step would be to have the biopsy or begin the diet. If the biopsy is negative you could still have Celiac as the biopsy can't rule OUT celiac. If its positive then there are no doubts about it. The biopsy is no big deal...its totally pain-free. I'm pretty sure its best to have...
  2. I get the same error message when trying to reply to pm's. It hasnt worked for a few days now.
  3. Thanks Elonwy and Peter, That was very informative. Why didnt I know any of this stuff before? My cat is 12 now. I guess I won't be trying to suddenly switch the foods on him again. Poor kitty...
  4. My doctor sent me to the dietician and when I showed up she was scrambling for info. She was apologizing for not being prepared and admitted she usually deals with diabetics. She had a couple books on Celiac and was printing info off the CSA website while she talked to me. She was nice but didn't help me one bit. I had already aquired way more knowledge about...
  5. My cat barfs all the time....I dont even know what to do about it anymore. I think he has food allergies. When he was a kitten all his hair fell off and the vet said he was allergic to corn. Corn is in all the cat food I and if I switch brands the barfing is 100 x worse. I use Iams...I dont know if its gluten-free....but even if the only ingredient was wheat...
  6. I'm exactly the same as you. Same height, same weight, same fluctuations. I probably will never gain all my weight back but I'd love to get to at least 115. Oh well...at least I'm over 100 now..6 months ago I was at 94 lbs.
  7. I hope you get some answers for yourself. Did you take the bloodtest after starting the diet? If so, the results may not be accurate. My bloodtests were negative after 2 weeks off gluten.
  8. Wow...this was one of my first posts. Its kind of interesting to go back and reread....alot of things have improved since then but still have lingering problems. I've definately learned plenty about gluten since then though.
  9. Yeah....I'm a "poor-doer" When I 'd switch to a new doctor they'd actually tell me to go back to my old doctor because he was more familiar with my case. I got that everytime I switched. It was so depressing. If my doctor was on vacation I'd have to see another doctor and I'd pray I'd get a GOOD one but they'd always tell me I'm too complicated...just...
  10. LMAO! I miss Beavis and Butthead!!! Maybe I'll take my doctor-hating self downstairs and watch some Beavis and Butthead tonite.
  11. Sorry I don't know about the antigliadin levels. Maybe Cornholio knows? Thats the same thing that I went through! I refused to go to the shrink but since the doctors wouldnt do anything but keep recommending I go because they couldn't treat the problems that were "all in my head"....I finally went. She must have been the brightest crayon of...
  12. Exactly how I feel. I'm not angry about not being diagnosed...I'm angry at the way I was treated. No human being who is sick should be treated in that manner. It was humiliating and infuriating to be told over and over my problems arent "real". I want that t-shirt!!!
  13. Hmmm...maybe we were in the same HMO? My doctor would just flat out ignore me because I kept coming back and he apparantly didnt know what to do for me so he just IGNORED me. Once I waited in the exam room for OVER an hour. I was freezing and not feeling well. I started to feel that he was just skipping over me and seeing other patients instead. I left...
  14. Why are people not understanding the purpose of this thread? CeliacMe, Debmidge and others who have gone through much more than I've had to deal with at the hands of the doctors in this country....you have my deepest sympathy. I consider myself a postive and helpful person. In NO way do I feel this thread is "spewing venemous hate"....I will continue...
  15. Ok...I've read all 6 pages of this thread and I feel that there are a handful of posts that were less than supportive. Its these "jabs" that led to yet *another* arguementive thread. Its like kids that poke each other back and forth a little harder each time but then when one kid gets punched....the crying begins. I thought we were all adults.
  16. I agree, People are going to be afraid to post if this continues. Whatever your view...you should not be judged, attacked, or belittled because it differs from others. This goes BOTH ways! I remember a thread about "whiners" awhile back....I think everyone was in agreement that we ALL have bad days and this is a place to share ALL experiences....good OR...
  17. One more thing. A doctor told me once that she knew someone practicing within my HMO.....she said they were fired for seeing patients for more than 10 minutes. I can believe this. They definately rush you in and out and are more than willing to whip out the perscription pad as if somehow that means they've done their job. I think even if there *were...
  18. I lost 25 lbs. total and have only gained back about 8 of it. Its been about 5 months now with no change. I'm bummed because I'd love to have all my weight back but right now I'm only 103.
  19. Well said Deb, I'm sorry you've had to defend yourself on this thread. My experience with doctors has been an absolute nightmare. Some say....just "fire" them until you find a good one. Well what if that doesnt happen? I fired plenty only to move on to the next idiot. I'm sure it was also in my file that I was some kind of hypocondriach because each and...
  20. Ok...I'm answering my own post. I checked out TOM's website and it doesnt say anything about the toothpaste containing gluten. Open Original Shared Link I lokked at the Delphi list and this is what it says. "Note that the orange-mango toothpaste is being considered gluten-y because the orange flavor is grain distilled rather than steam distilled." I...
  21. Hmmm....so far I havent cried once over food. It definately sucks to not have that convenience factor anymore. I work in a grocery store with a deli and a bakery and I can smell all the things I cant have all day....but still no tears about it. Apparantly I'm in the minority here. Maybe it hasn't hit me yet? Oh...I cry plenty when I'm glutened or otherwise...
  22. Awww....that is sweet! Arent some root beers not safe?
  23. If you're referring to MSFL....he was a registered member at the time of those postings. I believe he has since changed names so MSFL is now unregistered.
  24. Are you referring to the "outrageous orange-mango" for kids? I switched from the TOM'S Spearmint to the kids orange-mango and silly strawberry because I got all paranoid about salicylates. Sheeesh...I kinda got negligent about checking for gluten. I got new blisters on my face and in my mouth + loose stools but I thought I was 100% gluten-free...
  25. I don't know anything about combining test results to get a percentage. I'm not saying its invalid....just that I've never heard that before.
