  1. 1. Yes, you should remain on a normal diet before seeing the GI. You should be eating gluten daily for about 3 months prior to tests. 2. There isnt much of a difference as far as symptoms go and there is no difference as far as the treatment. You would still have to be gluten-free for life. It would not be a good idea in either case to eat small amounts...
  2. Shirley, I wasn't aware that NAET had been around that long...for some reason I had thought it was fairly new. Anyways, is it very expensive? Seems like it would be. That would be something I'd look into down the road if I don't improve with other methods first. Obviously it helped you but I've seen other posters say that it didnt help and that its just...

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

Thanks Jersey, Most days I'm not this down but its great to be able to express my frusteration here...everyone is always so supportive. I hope they can recommend someone to you. They are very friendly there. Good luck! Let me know if you hear anything.
  4. Jessika, The ELISA food intolerance test can be purchased from York labs. Many people on this forum have used them for testing. You dont need a doctor for the test. I had the test run from Great Smokies lab (requires a doctor). It is expensive. I paid $350. I'm not sure what York charges. A regular doctor or allergist doesnt test for IgG delayed reaction...

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

I'm happy I found this doctor. I feel like if he can't help me....noone can. I really dont know what happened to wear down my system sooo much that I cant function normally. I'm so chemically sensitive and it came out of nowhere. My tolerance is very low and once I hit my limit it's pain, major brainfog, blurred vision etc. I'm having a very bad day today...

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

Thanks everyone! Well I had no idea what type of doctor this guy was before I saw him...just that he specialized in gluten sensitivity. Anyways, its actualy a clinic where whoevers involved in your treatment work together as a team. I wouldn't say its "alternative" treatment but its not "mainstream" either. I guess its somewhere in between. All I know...
  7. I think I would have freaked out if the doctor told me I would have to be awake...even *slightly* awake. I feel bad for you...at least its over and done with.
  8. Sheeesh...I'm really wanting to go to Disney World after reading these posts! When I get better that may be the first vacation I take!
  9. Nancy, Did you change your diet alot or are you basically eating the same minus the dairy? Could it be your body adjusting to a new diet? Maybe someone else knows more cuz I never had "D" as a symptom so I'm just taking a guess.
  10. I would think the issue with nuts would be a cross-contamination issue. I dont think ALL dry roasted nuts are contaminated...it would depend on the amnufacturing facility. Unless...of course you're eating some nuts that have other stuff in them like wheat....but that would be indicated in the ingredients.
  11. Carrie and Jersey, I was at a scrapbook convention. I'm REALLY into scrapbooking and that was the first time I'd been to a convention. Its basically a bunch of vendors selling stuff. I was looking at all the die-cut shapes in the picture. Its a bunch of tilt-bins that you're seeing in the pic...all the die-cuts are in the bins. Die-cuts are just paper...
  12. I've heard that one sooo many times. How irritating. The other one I constantly get is "Can't you take a pill?" Ummm....yeah...I can take a pill, but instead I choose to do it the hard way and not eat ANYTHING with gluten cuz its so much fun to have a restricted diet and worry about getting sick all the time. HELLO...
  13. I agree with JnkMnky, he may have gluten hidden in his diet somewhere. I'm having the same problems with absorption and weight gain. My doctor says bacterial infections are common in celiac and they can keep the intestines from healing. They are running tests for that now to see if thats whats holding me back.
  14. I think Rice Dream is "tricky". Yes, it does say its got gluten right on the carton but still...its not somewhere you'd normally look. I think unless they've done their research beforehand alot of people have probably been glutened by Rice Dream at some point. I was.
  15. I thought I was goofy afterwards. I don't feel so bad now. Floridanative, Like everyone says...its a breeze. I have to agree with Amanda....I'd totally do it again. I felt so relaxed afterward...I felt like I'd slept for hours. It was probably really only 15 minutes or so but anyways it felt good.
  16. I had alot of mucus pre-gluten-free....I never see it anymore though. The mucus I was seeing looked like ummm....well... it looked like mucus. Sorry, yes, it was gooey stuff mixed in the stool...it looked kind of clear I guess. Well, it looked like it would have been clear had it not been in the stool. Sometimes it would be very visible...
  17. Shannon, Happy to hear that the doctors are taking this serious and you don't have to wait for an appt. I'm sorry you've had to go through so much recently, I hope all goes well tommorrow. Good luck.
  18. Jersey, I think it probably varies with each individual. I think sensitvity could increase, decrease or stay the same. Of course damage occurs regardless of reactions. I read that after going off gluten for awhile and then going back on you may notice no symptoms for some time but damage is still occurring and eventually symptoms will appear again.
  19. I agree with your husband and everyone else. Try the diet for awhile and see if it makes a difference. Biopsies give alot of false negatives...also it could be gluten intolerance rather than celiac but the symptoms can be just as severe as Nancy already mentioned.

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

Hi, Thanks for your response. I actually only find I'm having a problem if I'm left in the checkstand and exposed to every customer wearing perfume and no way to leave the area. I actually havent been a checker for years but they were needing me to help out...I ended up talking to my boss about it and now I don't check at all so it worked out. My boss...
  21. Claire, as far as I know Enterolab is the only lab testing for the sensitivity genes. All other labs only test for celiac genes.
  22. Basically any food intolerance can cause stomach problems and also slow healing process.
  23. I agree with Lonewolf about being restrictive until you've been gluten-free awhile. I also think you're asking for trouble with the dairy. Every doctor I've seen stated that dairy is off-limits during the first months. Personally, I dont think its a good idea especially if you're having problems.
  24. It sounds to me like you have other intolerances. You're eating quite a variety so it would be hard to pinpoint the cause. It could really be anything on that list causing your symptoms. This is why food diaries can be helpful. Have you had any testing done for food sensitivities? You could be eating the most healthy gluten-free diet but still feel sick if...
