ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
Rachel--24 replied to AliB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
There are different forms of mercury. They are not all equal in their toxicity and the body doesnt handle them all the same....some forms are more easily excreted. Mercury vapor from amalgams is a very toxic form of mercury which is readily absorbed into the nervous system....into the cells, into the brain, etc. There is also the effects of synergy (which... -
My genes are HLA-DQB1*0301, 0501....translated as DQ3 (subtype 7) and DQ1 (subtype 5). There is a very small percentage of biopsy proven Celiacs with DQ1 (without having DQ2 or DQ8). I am not in that group....although in the beginning I thought it was a strong possibility. I had very severe symptoms....they were mostly neurological but I did have GI...

ARCHIVED Bitter Metalic Taste
Rachel--24 replied to KristaleeJane's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Here are some other symptoms associated with mercury toxicity. The list of symptoms is actually endless but these are a few very common ones. Symptoms found in a survey of 1320 patients with amalgam toxicity, listed in order of the most common first, reveal these findings. Most people had multiple symptoms: 72% Depression 67% Tingling of Hands &... -
ARCHIVED Bitter Metalic Taste
Rachel--24 replied to KristaleeJane's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Here are some other possible causes for a metallic taste in the mouth: I know that root canals can also cause a metallic taste because they often harbor infections. I had a metallic taste in my mouth after my fillings got drilled out....and then again while I was on Flagyl. -

Fillings are definately a major source of exposure....however, we are ALL exposed to mercury....fillings or no fillings. There is noone on this planet that will not have some amount of mercury in their body. DPPIV is inhibitied by very small amounts of mercury. People who are genetically more susceptible to mercury will probably be more likely to... -

If you had some of the fillings removed and replaced this could have increased your mercury burden significantly. Most dentists do not use safety precautions to reduce exposure. This is actually how I lost my health....I did not have symptoms prior to the removal of two fillings (one was broken/the other deteriorating). The exposure was enough to tip the... -
ARCHIVED Everyone With Fibromyalgia...

While there are some people who do think that finding the root cause is a "quick fix" this is not the message that I want to convey in my posts. The symptoms of chronic illness are not usually caused by one underlying factor...but rather a multitude of problems. When one thing goes wrong it can affect every part of the body...when there is one imbalance.... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Heres my update. I have nothing new to report as far as testing (cuz I've been neglecting this), no new treatments....no appts till my phone consult on the 9th. Only new thing is that I went through my trial size mineral supplements and now I've ordered everything since I didnt have ANY problems with this brand! YAY....this is like a mini miracle... -

Hi Lynne Welcome to our monster thread. Most of us here can relate to all of this. I agree that its not normal to have so many problems with foods. I did used to sit and cry (pretty much everyday) during the first couple years when I really wasnt getting any answers....or feeling any better. I'm doing MUCH better these days....hang in there... -

Donna, Good news about the challenge test...I'm glad it went well. Not sure if the DMPS was the reason you slept so well but I guess you'll be able to tell if you have more IV's. I'm assuming you had the smallest dose (1cc?).....so I'm not sure it could make a big impact but you never know! I definately think your sleep problems could be caused... -

Interesting! I never knew this but I always wondered why my little body could handle so much Hydrocodone and yet I NEVER got addicted...it also didnt seem to have much of an impact on me. I took it every single day for over a year. My Dr. told me that I *had* to be addicted....and yet I never felt addicted. I felt like I could stop taking it.... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
Rachel--24 replied to AliB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Is the problem that a large percentage of the population do not produce the enzyme necessary to break down gliadin and casein....OR is it that a large percentage of people lose function of the enzyme?? The enzyme is called dipeptyl peptidase (DPPIV)...it is required for the digestion of gluten and casein. This enzyme is strongly inhibited by mercury and... -

You're right....the "cure" isnt always going to be as simple as elimininating a pathogen. It doesnt usually work that way. This is because *one* stressor typically doesnt put THAT much stress on the body (to the point that chronic disease symptoms develop)....the immune system can deal with certain things. The problem is that when one thing puts alot of stress... -

I agree...the answers dont come easy with this....it is VERY time consuming trying to get to the root cause...but of course its well worth the effort (at least for me it has been). What makes it THAT much harder is that conventional medicine is so quick to give the "label" (and then hand out the prescriptions) but they really do not test for any of the... -
ARCHIVED Chemical Sensitivities?
Rachel--24 replied to holiday16's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Usually when I would react to things they were not noticeable to anyone else. People who have no problems with detoxification are not usually affected by toxins in the same way. When I was healthy I never noticed the scent of a persons deoderant, or their shampoo....I never noticed the exhaust from other cars on the road or the fabric softener in the air... -
ARCHIVED Chemical Sensitivities?
Rachel--24 replied to holiday16's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
For some people it can improve the situation....some people actually become MORE sensitive after removing gluten. In most cases of multiple chemical sensitivity the problem is more complex. -
ARCHIVED Everyone With Fibromyalgia...
Rachel--24 replied to lizard00's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This is exactly the point. In my opinion to accept a diagnosis such as Fibro. is to accept that you have to live with chronic pain. We dont have to live with these symptoms. What you CAN do is find a Dr. who will not label you with a condition that is not treatable.... and who will search for the root cause. -
ARCHIVED Everyone With Fibromyalgia...
Rachel--24 replied to lizard00's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I think you misunderstood the post. She was not saying that people are making up their illness. That was not the point she was making. She was stating that the symptoms of Fibro are CAUSED by something which has not been diagnosed....that people should dig deeper and look for that underlying cause. I agree. You actually posted something very... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Testing
Rachel--24 replied to B'sgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My insurance did not cover the cost....I paid out of pocket. No Dr. was involved....anyone can order the tests online without a doctor. The Dr. who runs Enterolab has never published anything for peer reveiw. Most Dr.'s do not acknowledge Enterolab and will not make a diagnosis based on positive stool tests. Personally, I still question the validity... -
ARCHIVED Chemical Sensitivities?
Rachel--24 replied to holiday16's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes...its possible. I used to experience the same thing. The chemicals would seem to linger....I could actually *feel* it circulating through my system and reactions would occur. I could also sometimes taste fragrances or other chemicals in my mouth. It was because my body was having alot of difficulty with detoxification. I'm still sensitive but now I... -

Thank you for your concern....however, my cup has already run over. It started overflowing 5 years ago when I was hit with a boatload of sensitivities (food, chemical and environmental) and disabling neurolgical symtoms as well as GI symtoms. I have spent these last 5 years doing numerous elimination diets, keeping food journals, having numerous tests... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
Rachel--24 replied to AliB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Actually tTG is not 100% specific for Celiac.....other conditions can cause tTG to be positive. I had negative bloodwork, negative biopsy (textbook perfect villi) and I do not have Celiac genes. I did have a ton of symptoms which could be linked to Celiac/Gluten Intolerance...including very bad malabsorption, bloating, and significant weight loss....however... -

I have more problems with metals than with Lyme. So far Lyme doesnt seem to be a major player...my CD57 was 78 and Lyme doesnt show up as a major stressor for me. I got sick after having a couple amalgams drilled out (unsafely) and mercury always shows up as my main issue. The elevated copper is secondary to the mercury toxicity...because mercury tends... -
When my symptoms first appeared I had some burning sensations on my face....I could also see some broken blood vessels. It all happened pretty suddenly. I went to the dermatologist about my skin and she diagnosed rosacea. I read all the info about rosacea and it didnt really seem like my problem because my cheeks werent all that red and I'm not fair skinned...
