  1. Fiddle Faddle, The figure comes from a study which involved the screening of both high-risk and low-risk populations. It is not based on Celiac's who are already diagnosed. I posted this in an older thread.....had to go looking...here's the link to the study.
  2. I think the problem with Dr. Fine is not that his test can be considered "alternative" but that he has made alot of claims....without making any effort to back them up. ANY doctor who stands up to large groups of people EVERY year and makes the statement that he is going to publish for peer review and then does not make good of it...well....in my opinion...
  3. Exactly. Personally, I dont feel that his test will stand up to peer review....and I'm sure he is well aware of that. In the meantime he's making plenty of money without having to put himself out there....so its working quite well for him.
  4. If Dr. Fine's #1 priority is helping people become well...and if he truelly has developed a test that is valid....why hasnt he published?? He's made alot of claims but until he publishes there is nothing to validate any of it. In my opinion if he is unable to publish (for whatever reason) he should not be claiming that he is "about to publish" for several...
  5. I dont think its the caffeine because I actually have adverse reactions to caffeine...I can feel it. I've looked it up before and chocolate only contains caffeine in small amounts...not enough to really be noticeable. I have had a reaction to the caffeine (I think) but only when I ate like 2 bags of it in one day. I get jittery, heart palps, sweating,...
  6. Oh...and if its the mag. in the chocolate thats moving things along...could it really happen so quickly? This is not the first time that I've used handfuls of chocolate chips to relieve constipation...and it always works pretty quickly. However, I dont continue to have bm's every single time I eat the chocolate chips. After the first time...I just become...
  7. Oh yeah....next topic. My genetic test should be here tomorrow or Sat....and my enzymes are being shipped as well. I still have to set up my appt. for BioSET but hopefully will be able to do it soon (not sure how easy it is to get an appt. and I'm seeing someone new). I should be seeing Dr. P. again in a few weeks...unless for some reason it takes...
  8. I'm thinking my constipation issues might be caused in part by magnesium deficiency. Well.....probably a BIG part. Yeah....it really has taken me ALL THIS TIME to figure that out. Anyone remember how I became "regular" when I was eating all that chocolate ice cream? Then when I gave up the ice cream I went back to having issues with "c" again. ...
  9. Castor, Just wanted to say that I'm glad you found someone who is interested in healing. Many of us who post here have "voodoo" doctors and I dont think that any of us would be willing to trade them in for a conventional one. In my opinion to beat chronic Lyme you need someone who is integrative and who thinks "outside the box" and this...
  10. Many people have reactions to naturally occuring chemicals in food (phenols) so if you are not allergic to the almonds and peanuts (you should get tested to be sure) then you may want to look into that. Since you also react to lunch meat and sardines you may want to look into "amines". Almonds and peanuts can be high in amines when roasted. They are also...
  11. I agree. I dont see a direct correlation between rainy climates and higher rates of Autism. Some areas which are not considered rainy climates (such as Ca) have higher rates than areas that do have rainy climates. Autism has skyrocketed in all areas....not just the rainy ones. Good points. We are led to believe that thimerosal is not a...
  12. Autism has very high rates where I live (Bay Area, CA)....this is one of the areas with the fastest growing rate of autism...and yet the climate is not rainy (it barely ever rains here!). However, the Bay Area does have some of the highest levels of environmental mercury in the world. Autism is not a genetic disease....and genes alone would not be responsible...
  13. I dont think that they will ever identify a singular cause for Autism. I truelly dont believe that there is one........all evidence points to it being multifactorial. There is definately a genetic link....but the genes alone do not cause autism. Its most likely genetic predisposition + toxic exposures/insults to the immune system... which may include...
  14. Paula, Alot of things can contribute to adrenal exhaustion and/or thyroid problems. A person with mercury toxicity would almost certainly have adrenal exhaustion and most have low thyroid function. It doesnt mean that mercury is the *only* cause for those issues....just that they are associated with mercury toxicity.
  15. It sounds like a fun day Paula! I was kinda wanting to play hookey myself this morning. I never got the Lugol's....because my doctor gave me something else he wants me to take. I'm thinking I'd do better with something that is NOT oral....but he gave me tablets. I dont know how well its going to go over....I have to get desensitized to...
  16. April, It sounds like her room is gonna look great. I love doing home projects but havent had the time to do anything for a few years now. My last big project was a craft area that I designed and built....for scrapbooking. Its very spacious. Unfortunately I never get to actually USE it. The genetic stuff is pretty complicated.....but...
  17. Andrea... I love, love, LOVE the new pic! Very cute.
  18. Shay, I'm very happy to say that I'm also a maverick. an independent individual who does not go along with a group or party a person who thinks independently, a lone dissenter, a non-conformist or rebel. Yup...I got a mind all my own. I'm looking forward to seeing how the experiment plays out!
  19. Absolutely. Every insult contributes to the total body burden. In my opinion everything plays a role.....its never just one thing.
  20. I had these symptoms with Graves Disease. The headaches and pressure behind my eyes were the worst symptoms....but I also had: sweating huge appetite shaky hands anxiety heart palps felt wired all the time and a little OCD I did not have cold hands and feet while I was hyperthyroid.
  21. The thing that stands out the most to me in looking at your results is the high calcium, high magnesium and high copper. You have VERY high calcium.....it usually means that the calcium is being displaced. You would most likely be deficient because the calcium isnt being utilized....instead its coming out in the hair. This is one of the indicators...
  22. Another good book is "Louder Than Words" by Jenny McCarthy. I cant imagine reading the book and NOT wanting to give the diet a try.
  23. That could be true. I think the most common explanation is that the longer a chemical stays in your system (circulating rather than being eliminated) the more likely you are to become sensitized to it. The immune system starts reacting to it. If a person has impaired detoxification and if eventually the system becomes overwhelmed.....the liver is very burdened...
  24. On the Genova Diagnostics website (where I had my first set of genetic testing) they say that many people develop MCS after being exposed to mercury. Thats what happened with me.....all of the sensitivities developed after that exposure. What I'm wondering is if the mercury is removed.....does the MCS remain? I'm not sure about this because it seems...
  25. I would have to agree with this. If at all possible see a DAN doctor.....as the previous poster mentioned, sometimes the results are miraculous. I see a DAN doctor myself....even though I'm an adult and not autistic. The DAN doctor I see has had very good results with treating ASD's. I would HIGHLY recommend implementing the gluten-free/cf diet...
