ARCHIVED Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free Protein Supplement?
luvrdeo replied to archaeo in FL's topic in Sports and Fitness
I'm about 6 weeks in, and have no energy for even a walk in the evenings - I used to be hardcore into bootcamp and working out everyday...now I can hardly get my laundry done. Granted, I've been this way for longer than the 6 weeks since cutting out gluten - it's been this way all year. I completely feel your pain, so does my body! I wish I knew where... -
ARCHIVED Is This Truly Normal?
luvrdeo replied to luvrdeo's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I eat a pretty healthy balanced diet, and calorie wise, it's the same as it has been the last 10 years - which is why this is all so weird to me. It doesn't seem to matter how much or how little I eat (trust me I've played with this), I have NO energy, and the weight piles on. -
Anyone good around here? My doctor has pretty much left me to fight for myself, and I'm very frustrated with their lack of help AND knowledge on celiac!

ARCHIVED Is This Truly Normal?
luvrdeo replied to luvrdeo's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I guess my problem is - what do I do now? They tested my blood for things that run parallel to ulcerative colitis (folic acid and B12) and ran just the TSH test for thyroid. Somehow, I have to get my metabolism going again, because I'm pretty sure it's disappeared...and weight has taken it's place. -

I used to be hard core into my fitness, but my energy levels are soooooo low, it's hard to get my house vacuumed these days. I can tell you how many calories are in any food out there, because I've always been THAT into working out and my fitness. For 10+ years I've had a personal trainer, I know enough I could train others at this point. Never in my life... -

I eat eggs for breakfast every day, and avocado with my lunch I never have been a fun of butter, but cheese is something I refuse to give up so I eat a little every day. Doesn't seem to matter what I do or don't eat, I still feel the same -
ARCHIVED Gluten Nightmares- Literally!
luvrdeo replied to Pauliewog's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
After dreaming about pretzels 3 times within 3 weeks (so random, I don't eat them on a regular basis even when I could), I finally went and bought my first gluten free "special" food...Glutinos! While expensive, I have to admit, I'm enjoying them! I've been feeling rather deprived lately due to my colitis, so this has been a nice safe treat! -
I'm flying to Italy in 3 weeks, have yet to venture out since being diagnosed with celiac so this should be an adventure! I guess I'm looking for more snack ideas than anything...and any great restaurants anyone has tried? I'll be in the Tuscan region - Florence, Venice, Siena, Cinque Terre. Also...due to my serious issues with colitis lately, I'm pretty...

ARCHIVED Is This Truly Normal?
luvrdeo replied to luvrdeo's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I went misdiagnosed years ago, and this was a fluke deal that they actually found out what was going on. Now I need to find someone that will actually HELP me, instead of just sending me on my way with no help at all! -

They only checked my TSH which is what worries me, everything I read says more than that needs to be looked at. I feel like my doctor is leaving me hanging by not doing a better job to try and make me feel better! -

I have been anemic before, but when I mentioned my dumb doctors, it was because they didn't bother to check my iron levels! I'll be going somewhere else to have that done... -

Carbs come from the fruits and veggies, sweet potatoes, ect. Never been one for a lot of bread and pasta, always sits too heavy for me. -

Week 5 of being gluten free (or maybe 6). Undiagnosed for probably 15 years. Pretty bad fatigue the last year and a half. Since going gluten free, the fatigue has been taken to a whole new level that I cannot even fathom. Example: last night, I couldn't fold my laundry I was so tired and lifeless. I've gained 10 lbs since going gluten free - my diet... -
ARCHIVED Constipation as a Symptom
luvrdeo replied to luvrdeo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I started the whole-foods diet immediately, as I know how bad processed food is anyway, and have never been much of a fan due to being very health-conscious and a gym rat. I've also cut out dairy and grains - but hadn't gotten as far as the legumes (which I rarely eat anyway), nightshades and eggs. I'll admit I eat eggs everyday, and cut up fresh tomatoes... -
ARCHIVED Constipation as a Symptom
luvrdeo replied to luvrdeo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know it takes time, and I've accepted that, especially because I've been sick half my life. But I can hardly get out of bed these last few weeks, and have gained entirely too much weight. There is so much more going bad, with absolutely nothing going good. -
ARCHIVED Constipation as a Symptom

I knew there was more to it than just one test! I have a feeling I'll be finding a new doctor very soon. Feeling the way I do just isn't ok! -
ARCHIVED Constipation as a Symptom

Many with Celiac have chronic constipation rather than diarrhea. Many are overweight rather than underweight. Those with Celiac Disease come in ALL ages, shapes and sizes. Although I weighed more than I should - healthy diet and tons of exercise stopped controlling my weight in my 20s - all of my nutrients were far below normal. My body was not absorbing... -
ARCHIVED Depo-Provera Injection
luvrdeo replied to Vicky-1989's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been on depo for 8 years and never gained weight, and they recently told me there is absolutely no reason to go off of it as long as I 'm taking my calcium supplements! They told me as long as you're active and stay healthy, you're fine. -

I've cut out most starches to try and help the weight loss. I'm also battling extreme fatigue so that isn't working in my favor! Too bad this wasn't easier haha!! I finally stopped buying my tortilla chips that I live on...it's been tough, but I'm hoping it is worth it. -
ARCHIVED Corn Tortillas

That's funny, I could LIVE on soft corn tortillas and cheese!!! Quesadillas are a MUST at my house -

I have gone unDxed for a long time as well, which is what I'm blaming for everything right now Thanks for the encouragement!! Much needed today! -

luvrdeo replied to luvrdeo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Goodness it has taken that long to feel better?! I guess it isn't out of the norm for me to be feeling horrible today then is it! Shoot. Dumped the dairy...I think I've overdone it the last few days though, I'm struggling! -
ARCHIVED Got Glutened-Need Help
luvrdeo replied to gluten-is-kryptonite's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I got glutened a little over a week ago...I reacted instantly. I keep reading "rest and fluids"...my question is, I work typically a 10 hour day (which I hate), and the last few nights I've had things going on after work. By the time I get home I'm exhausted (been gluten-free for almost a month now). Today, I feel HORRIBLE...massive headache, extreme fatigue... -
ARCHIVED Going The Primal Route....
luvrdeo replied to LauraB0927's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I do crave chips and tortillas though...the rest is easy, because it's how I would normally eat anyway! I don't drink much milk so that's no loss...just the cheese. After I get adjusted to this and see what the results are, I'll throw cheese back in - maybe even try to find a "raw" healthier brand!
