ARCHIVED Between Health And Religion (Rituals, Retreats, And Other "unsafe" Situations)
surviormom replied to Pegleg84's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My son has a retreat with our church, and I plan to discuss the menu in advance and see if I need to send food or money for special food. -
ARCHIVED 30 Years W/celiac & I'm Still Coping!
surviormom replied to heymom45's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am cold today too, but I will not tell you the temp, you would laugh. You are really cold. I am planning brownies today but I have to convert that recipe first. -

ARCHIVED 30 Years W/celiac & I'm Still Coping!
surviormom replied to heymom45's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
And that is why I still do it. Prayer, tells me its ok. Yet, I still am not well, it takes so long to heal. I think I need to totally eliminate eating out, my poor husband. As much as restaurants are learning to be safer, I think they are still making me sick. I take a 2 steps forward and 3 back. I was great until Thanksgiving. Now I am bloated... -

How do you handle church? I am catholic as well, a Eucharistic Minister, and do not want to stop, keep telling myself such a small amount cannot hurt since I am so careful in every other way. I have given up so much, yet healing seems so slow. -
ARCHIVED Gurgles, Neck Pain, Headache Ugghh
surviormom replied to answerseeker's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is strictly opinion, but I think, if you are a woman and you have celiac, you will have endo and fibroids, however, even if you do not have celiac, there is still a chance you can develop them. Strictly opinion. -
ARCHIVED How Long Before Your Mood Symptoms Of Glutening Take To Kick In?
surviormom replied to javic's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Since I have had to go gluten free, I made the whole house, gluten free. I have 2 children I suspected were in need of it as well and that is enough to make the whole house gluten-free, in the process I discovered that another child, when he has gluten is a little ADHD within an hour and it will last for days. Is this what you were asking? He is a better... -
ARCHIVED One Year In With Celiac 8-Yo Daughter. Feeling So Sad.
surviormom replied to ViennaGirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Vent away. I am a mother of 5. I get tired of it too. I have two sons and myself that need to be gluten-free, and the rest I see small improvements in simple things. Teen acne is better. Middle child in every way is now a sweetheart. Second child is finally gaining some weight, middle one too. Little things. But the two youngest and I we have to do... -
ARCHIVED Heartburn That Looks/feels Like Heartattack
surviormom replied to surviormom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes. I am certain now, I was glutened. I started having the other problems that come with it. It is more of a CC. We are not alone. I am happy to hear from others that know more than I do, and will help those that are new like me as much as I can. I joke with my husband, that I will have a real heart-attack and we will not know it. He does not find... -
ARCHIVED Heartburn That Looks/feels Like Heartattack
surviormom replied to surviormom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You have been a great help. Yes, I do have Gerd, it was just under control, until that night, and that night, it could not be controlled the way I had in the past. It was just WOW! My blood pressure is normal, I have passed the stress test, but I do have a completely messed up intestinal system, years of gluten that should not have been. I am very good... -
ARCHIVED Heartburn That Looks/feels Like Heartattack
surviormom replied to surviormom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, Exactly! I totally expected moving, to move some gas and it all to alleviate and let me sit back down. It just did not that night, not until I left. A night I will not forget. -
ARCHIVED Heartburn That Looks/feels Like Heartattack
surviormom replied to surviormom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It was very weird. It was under control until last night. No instances since last summer, when I was in another place that was not the most friendly for someone needing to be gluten free, but I thought I could have a salad, and I had a similar attack, just not as weird, we were waterside, and I had fresh air to breath and was able to walk it off. I have... -
ARCHIVED Heartburn That Looks/feels Like Heartattack
surviormom replied to surviormom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I feel like I was glutened, I have the pregnant looking bloated stomach. But, why did leaving make me start to recover? Yes, I stopped eating then too, but I walked back in once and it became worse again, then leave totally and start to recover. Stomach bloat, does only happen with gluten. The Gerd is under control unless I have tomato products or get... -
ARCHIVED Heartburn That Looks/feels Like Heartattack
surviormom posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi, I am not sure if I was accidentally glutened or if it was just bad air. Yes, I have had bad air experience in Panera Bread. I have Gerd, so this has happened before, but not like I will describe. I was out with husband at a popular sports place, I ordered what I thought was safe, and was not having any issues until I began eating. Except I was... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Sensitive To Caffeine?
surviormom replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I sent my Espresso machine to work with my husband because of a nasty cough that would only go away when I gave up coffee. Coincidence, possible, but every time I tried to have a cup, the mucus cough came back. So, he who loves it and drinks it all day, has the best now. It was hard for me to believe coffee was the problem, I read conflicting information... -

ARCHIVED Amount Of Gluten In Single, Small Bread Crumb?
surviormom replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
But if by "everything", he means you blame gluten for the glitch-filled obamacare website, the stupid twerking fad, the blown call in the Patriots game, etc etc...then, you have to stop doing that. (it may be true, but we can't prove it) And of course there is that Mayor with issues. I cracked up laughing when I read Pegleg84 too. He just may have... -
ARCHIVED Amount Of Gluten In Single, Small Bread Crumb?
surviormom replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I love your sense of humor. Yes, all health issues. Now, you have a point, it could be the brain fog causing all of those other things, if we think about it. -
ARCHIVED Amount Of Gluten In Single, Small Bread Crumb?

My husband says I am starting to blame gluten for everything. -
ARCHIVED Liquid Diet Post Glutening?
surviormom replied to c.anne's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Water, green tea, and broth are my go to. I do add some light food when I make something for the family that is really good, I will let myself have a couple of bites. It helps shorten the recovery time. -
ARCHIVED After Celiac Diagnoses - Were You Angry?
surviormom replied to tonalynn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I did get mad about the doctors not picking it up, but I am happy to finally know now. I can keep my kids from going through what I am going through. It is hard to be mad when you start feeling better, the more things improve, the less you can be mad. -
ARCHIVED After Celiac Diagnoses - Were You Angry?
surviormom replied to tonalynn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I wasn't angry so much as happy to finally have answers that made sense. However after a few months of very slow progress, I was weak and a little ticked on a son's birthday and thought, why can't I have a small piece of cake. Well, now we know why. Sick, sick, sick. Nails, grow now, never in my life did they grow like they do now, unless I get gluten... -
