  1. Thanks for the reply. It's weird becasue twice since gluten-free I have gotten rashes exactly three days after glutening - they last pretty much all day and they are small white-head type bumps that cover my stomach, arms and groin. I have no idea if it's related.
  2. Do you still need it? What ingredients do you need to avoid?
  3. I am allergic to rice - it's such a bummer, eh? For the cake (which I made with carob), there are two eggs and four egg whites. I can still post the recipe, but can you work around that?
  4. Do you find when you get glutened you quickly bloat, then lose about 5 lbs. over night?
  5. Actually, I sort of get that too - they get really tingly and, well, tired. It doesn't matter if I'm on there for 5 seconds, or 10 minutes. It esp. happens after a glutening and I am s$#&tin' every four seconds! Our lives, eh?
  6. Great idea for a post! I found a recipe for a chocolate polenta cake and made it friendly to celiac AND my allergies and it tasted just like chocolate cake! I topped it with fresh berries and it was so yummy! Another thing I do is make cheese sauce out of nutritional yeast and put it on EVERYTHING>...............!
  7. Hey everyone! What were your main symptoms from the diabetes?
  8. Karen, Do you make a good alternative? My poor mom is dying for a ceasar!
  9. Hey everyone, Tonight I went out to a restaurant with my mom to a place very knowledgeable with the disease - they have a few people who work there with it. Luckily, our waitress is best friends with one of them, so I am almost positive there was no problem. Anyway, I ordered my gluten free meal (really good, by the way: shrimp, scallops, mussels, tonnes...
  10. Are most foods at Asian Food Marts okay? I went to one today and wanted to buy seaweed and noodles (and the only ingredients listered were those), but are they 'safe'? Also, what about band-aids (or bandages)? And what hot dogs in Canada? Thanks!
  11. self-diagnosed.
  12. Last night I ate dinner at the Whole Foods salad bar, and was very careful, but as you all know, it was a salad bar. I felt okay after, but this morning felt as though I had been horribly glutened. I guess I was. Anyway, I diarreahed and then the second round came. It was small, and a little bloody. Does anyone get blood in their stools after being...
  13. Are any of you gluten free (but not needing to be) and does it still affect you when do you consume it because you've avoided it?
  14. I am not lactose intolerant (I have been tested), and am a self-diagnosed celiac, however, I stay away from casein 1) to perhaps aid in the quicker healing of my body, and 2) just because I know it reacts with a lot of people and I don't want to create anything harsh on my system. Does anyone else stay away from it 'just because'? Or do the people who...
  15. Which one are you heading to? The one I went to (my first gluten free restaurant experience!) was grand.
  16. Okay, here's my story: This morning I did everything normal. Except, before I left the house, I thought I would prepare my dad some dinner (I was driving back up to school this morning, and thought it would be nice for him to open the fridge and have dinner there later this night). I found some vegetarian pepperoni in the freezer, and decided to incorporate...
  17. I'm good with Perrier! I have weird reactions to certain water brands (like Dasani), so maybe it's just one of those things. I also drink club soda constantly.
  18. Hey everyone, Just wondering - other than Il Fornello/Outback/Swiss Chalet.. The basics, what gluten free restaurants have you been to in Ontario?
  19. Listen. I just live in one of the most beautiful places in the world - Niagara. Just pick me up some of this PF Chang's that I hear so much good stuff about, and drive it here, and I'll take you out for a night on the town. Is that a good deal? I. Am. Craving. Chinese. Food.
  20. Hi everyone, I've been gluten free since late August and noticed some significant changes (note: SOME... But enough to motivate me!). I've noticed a few things. My tongue is raw on the sides (not the top... And it's not coated). Does anyone get that? Also, I have extreme thirst, so I pee constantly... But when I have to go, I HAVE TO GO. I'll pee right...
