Maize is derived from corn and not a gluten concern.

Maybe the Baskins Robbins scoop, just before you, scooped up some cookies and cream?

Some of you know, my daughter was married in June. She is not home, but local.
She has some stress issues recently and the tummy pains kicked in rapidly. A disturbing/ confrontational phone call triggered the pain almost immediately.
Emotional, nausea, feeling of wanting to vomit, jabbing stomach pains. Constipation is the final result, with like symptoms.
Can H. Pylori, lay around and kick in or when ever, gets activated and create havoc, when stress induced.
Her terrible abdominal pain is only present with anxiety and stress.
BTW: She had the blood test. I have no results nor the tests taken, but was told neg. ( I know a lot better now)

Deena - If it lists modified food starch in the US it most likely is corn derived. If other, it is required by law to list wheat.
Enjoy you pie

I don't know too much about it, but perhaps your blood sugars many be off. Hypoglycemic.

I have not had an appetite for six years, bloating and underweight. I take Omeprazole daily.
August of 05 I was dx's with Celiac, Gastritis and Large Hiatal Hernia
Many here have been relieved by the gluten free diet, yet I see no improvement. It's pretty frustrating.

English Breakfast - Ceylon, Kenyan and Indian teas, no other ingred.
Earl Grey - Tea, Bergamont flavouring. (??Bergamont), no other ingred.
I don't know what the flavoring is.
Just looked it up...
Bergamont flavoring is derived from Mediterranean Oranges.
So they both should be gluten free.

Hi All,
Is Twinings tea gluten-free? I can't find a reference on here. The English Breakfast and Earl Grey are on my mind.
Thanks!

Perhaps a change in ingredient in your cosmetics. Also, someone mentioned an electric can opener with gluten goo on the blade. Have you introduced any new lotions, dish soaps... Some fruit juices contain gluten, where you would think that they would not.
I hope you feel better soon, or better yet, find what it is so that you can prevent getting sick.

How about some clam sauce or alfredo sauce, with or without chicken? Or toss in some fresh veggies, garlic and olive oil. Or black beans and corn with green onions?
-
Yes, on the home page here you can find a list of safe ingrediences and fobidden ingrediences. I believe it is listed on Site Index.
That would get you off to a good start.

Manna jumps at me....as you may know Manna if often refered to as Bread. I don't know if Manna would be considered an ingredient, though. Maybe a funky way of listing wheat?
Just speculation on my part.

Rickops:
I am so glad that you have returned. I have thought alot about your situation and hoped that you would find the answer for you child.
GFMemphis gave you some leads. I hope you followed up on those.
There are many parents here with children with celiac and I am sure that they will be here soon. I have heard that testing small children is not always reliable. Some upt to go gluten free and to test at a later age.
My thoughts go out to you.

I have found that the longer that you are gluten free the more sensitive you reacts to "mistakes", or cross contamination.
Regarding your question about pinning....When a new topic is posted, a moderator will look at it to see if it is appropriate and in proper form and place, then they will pin it. If it takes a while, all the moderators are away from their computers.

Hi Sheryl:
Welcome. You found the perfect place. You will learn more here than anywhere else.
I would not to tamper with you meds until you see improvement from a gluten free diet, and then, I would suggest discussing this with your doctor (or new one that understands Celiac!). Going off anti's can cause some pretty rough reactions.
You might not want to eat out for a while. Taco Bell has very little gluten free items and if I recall correctly, their shells are not gluten free (I need to check on that).
Gluten can hide everywhere...your shampoo, lotions, lipsticks, soy sauce...
You are smart to keep your initial diet simple. Meats, Seafood, Veggies, Rice, Potatoes. Oatmeal is not considered safe, as to cross contamination. Limit your seasonings to salt and pepper for a while until you inside heal a little. They you can gradually add new things to your diet. By then you will be a pro at reading labels.
Dairy is frequently difficult to digest in the beginning (lactose is absorbed on the tips of the villi - which get burned off from Celiac - Nancy taught me that).
Again welcome to our world and the rule here is that "there are no stupid duestions", always feel free to ask when in doubt or just share something.

In addition to those answers....Long term use of antacids hinders the absorption of Vit B-12.
