OOPS, Ursula, sorry, I did not pick up on the UK link. Thanks for the clarifications.

You know, it is all just a mind game. There are stages in this deal:
1. Shock and Awl
2. Total confusion and feeling of helplessness
3. Study Stage - soaking everything possible
4. Overwhelming - feeling how impossible this must be
5. Confidence building - you can read labels now
6. Anger - because you can't have that fried chicken that you used to love, and your friends and family, just
don't get it
7. Sorry, I'm not there yet.
But you have to know what is good and what is not. It's not always about ingredients, it's about health. You have to tell yourself, if I eat this, I will hurt and feel bad for days.......is it worth it.
If anyone would like to continue with this list, please feel free as I would like to know what comes next.

Modified wheat starch , is derived from wheat and it is a NO GO for people with Celiac....Food pantry food. sorry

There is a condition associated with autoimmune diseases call Raynaud's Syndrome. (not sure of the correct spelling) and it the numbing of feet, toes and finger tips. They get numb and cold and when the circulation begins again there is a burning feeling.
Many people here on the forum suffer from this. I am sure that they will contribute soon.

What do you do with leftover turkey............throw the whole darn thing out the window.

I have been thinking about my post. It was totally emotional for me. I certainly did not mean to add to your bad day. If I did, I am truly sorry.
It is tough beginning the diet, just ask the tons of people that I asked, asked and asked. I have been where you are. Please feel comfortable to ask any question that you have. Ask away with a product, or ingredient question.
We have all started at the beginning and the beginning is a new start...........a start to feeling better.
Once you get the swing of it all, it truely is not that difficult, it does get easier.
There are lots of us here, that were where you are now.
If I can help you in any way, please ask or PM me.

Empty nest and add a newly retired husband. Shut, we were both out of jobs. We were dealing with this loss, his on his own and me on my own. It will take some time and adjustment, but it will resolve as long as you talk to your spouse.
Celiac, yes it's a major pain in the butt....and I can totally sympathize with our frustration. And, it's just plain hard to figure out. But, if you have been diagnoses with Celiac Disease, the power is in your control. An adjustment to your diet can regain your health. The options are not as desirable. As sick as I was, I thought I had something that could not be fixed without toxic drugs, chemo, radiation or worse......I cannot tell you how fortunate that I feel, that I am in control of my life and not dependent on the before mentioned to make me "better".
Yeah, the diet may be a pain in the butt for you.........but count your blessing. Be diligent about it, it will save your life someday.
I apologize if I sound harsh. I have seen so many friends here that have gone through years of not being diagnosed , the pain that it has caused them and the fragile walk they travel through a "normal" day, it an awful thing.
If you have Celiac Disease, stay on the diet, get healthy and don't ever whine about it. This is a reality check..........you deal now or you deal later. I would choose the NOW.
(This is not personally directed to anyone in this post, just personally motivated, unfortunately)

A great find of me in down south podunk.......was Philly Cheese Cake Filling, ready to serve.
We served this at Thanksgiving with homemade fresh cranberry sauce - leave the crust and serve in a clear cocktail glass.
For those who miss cheese cake, this is a pretty good substitution...There can be alot of creativity with this product. I was glad to find it.

What do we do with turkey leftovers?
Eat them! (Yes, as just turkey, and we have, oh, probably six pounds of turkey leftovers.
)
Some things I've done in the past:
turkey soup
turkey enchiladas
salad with turkey
And something to try this year, later today:
Leftover Thanksgiving Sushi!
(no, I'm not kidding
)
T:
Turkey sushi.........ug, that is so way over the hill

Art Girl:
I gotta try that one. It's great for an afternoon snack.
I mix Underwood Deviled Ham (gluten free cause I called and printed), with cream cheese. It's good with chips as well.

To add: it's REALLY WONDERFUL in scrambled eggs!!!

There was some discussion here many months ago. Obviously, it generated great excitement.
I never liked beer before my dx (lucky me) so did not pay too much attention.
I do hope so for all those that miss it.

Maker's Mark is gluten free. All distilled liquors are gluten free. The distilling process removed the gluten out of the liquor. Kaluah is gluten free. Crown should be fine. I drink Seagrams 7 with no problem.
Virginia Gentleman Whiskey is double distilled.
Flavored drinks, I don't know anything about, and would be cautious.
Wine is gluten free although some have sensitivity to the supphites in wine.
Enjoy.

Michele:
This is a holiday weekend in the US, so most are away from the computer.
I did the endoscopy and my GI saw flattening of the villi and my biopsy was consistant with Celiac.
Not the same as your case.

Does anyone know if lucerne makes both a light eggnog and a light "holiday" eggnog? Or are they the same thing. I have found Lucerne light eggnog on a gluten free list but didn't know if that was the same thing that i found in the store, which was light "holiday" eggnog. I think the only questionable ingredients are natural and artificial flavors. It also says spices on the ingredient list. Are spices questionable? Help!
If there is any wheat it will be listed by law, but they do not have to list barley, malt, or rye. I would expect that the later would not be in the ingrediences.

Stress kicked me over the hill.
Years of IBS and slowly loosing weight and constant lower back ache.
It triggered in one specific day....and for two months I was house bound with a toilet no more than two feet away.
Diagnosed with an endoscopy and biopsy.
-
modified food starch in the US is generally corn based.
-
It will be required by law to list wheat on it's lables.

OKay, I have to jump in here as y'all are taking about mojos.
Anyone remember Richard Pryor, in his stand-up, would talk about Miss Rudolph putting a mojo on his a$$?
Can anyone remember what that mojo made him do?
Prize for the winner: a turkey dinner.

I once asked this same question. I believe it was richarad "lovegrove", who told me that the Montreal Seasoning was gluten free.
I have used it alot without a problem. It's wonderful on beef.
Disclaimer, I cannot 100% say that it is gluten free....99% certain. I would never want to risk someones health by posting incorrect information about a product.

Armetta, Lisa, and Laura, I want to thank all of you for thinking of this for Lynne and Dave. I don't know how many letters you rounded up. I do hope they take it to heart what we have all said. Not only does Lynne need this but she deserves this.
Just to clarify........Armetta is in command, Laura and I are the ground crew. Metta., has the yucks, so we are the stand ins.
Thanks and yes she does.

Armetta, I thank you for your gift of compassion, generosity and the knowledge of "it's just the right thing to do". Good things happen, to good people making it happen.
Thoughts to you, Lisa
