  1. When I have a business/lunch meeting, I stop by McD's and pick up the apple/yogurt dip and pitch the walnuts., and a drink.

Lunch out today was funny. New place my daughter and her friend went to. I ordered a salad with no bread what so ever, on my plate!!! When she delivered it, "here you go, totally no carb meal". My daughter, said "close, but no cigar!". :)

  2. Robina:

I admire you willingness to help put the word out there. Here is just a thought. I get a daily paper from Virginia (I live in North Carolina), and every day there is a health g&a from a doctor. I know that it is a national "filler piece", but that may work.

I have often considered writing, and I may do so in the near future, with a subject pertaining to "Why are so many doctors uneducated to Celiac Disease, when it seems so prevalent and under dx".

In otherwords, hit the general public and then the public will ask of the doctors.........and then they will have to stand up.

Just my thoughts, but thoughts are not action. I'm with you. :)

  3. Armetta:

When I have access to lots of fresh veggies this is what I do:

Eggplant, peeled and cut into 1" squares

    Zucchini, cut same

    Yellow squash, cut same

    Small white onions

    Mushrooms, sliced

Put them all into an oven pan, drizzle olive oil over it all

    Salt and pepper

    Toss well

Roast in oven until tender (I prefer it a little "roasted")...It's a meal in itself, serve over rice, or a pork tenderloin w/apple sauce.

I know you will get lots of ideas :)

  4. I also use corn starch. Tonight, I made some Potato Soup:

Cook Potatos in Swansons Chicken broth and mash when cooked.

    Add fresh chives

    Add butter cheese (lots)

    Salt and Pepper

Add 1/2 and warm just before serving

Top with sour cream and bacon bits.......yummy :)

edit: Add half and half (oops)

  5. I just wanted to add that there are several companies that will continuously list, wheat, barley, rye, oats, malt. One of those coming to mind is Kraft........as they will always list the above listed, if added. For instance, if a Kraft product contains wheat, it will say a very long word that does not look like wheat, but it will put in (wheat). They are one of the good guys.

It is a long learning process, it will happen.

Kraft foods will be labled if wheat is contained.

  6. 7up and Seagrams is great with a slice of orange.- gluten-free

There are many other cocktails that you can enjoy...Martini's and such :D

If you search on this site, there will be a list of defined gluten free indulgences for your enjoyment. :) (on the initial page)

Both of you do a search here, you will find some happy answers. :P

  7. Sorry that you are ill. By the ingred. list that you provided........I saw natural flavors- with other natural flavors???? (if you may have a soy problem, this may be one).

Tooo many natural ingred. to make me feel comfortable eating. Vanillan ( in the US is ok, but don't know about others countries.)

"Natural Flavors" means that they are not going to tell you. I do tend to stay away from company who do not freely list.

    Hope this will be helpful.

heh, heh, heh the gangs not all here, wait until Monday. Yeah, we are a little bit crap, but over all 99% good. :D:D

Thanks brizz, check back from time to time. :) and fill us in on what you're up too  ,

  9. Great answer from Laura.

Hillshire Farms is a great company and will always list. When I do buy, I buy from them. Kraft and Newman's Own has a long line of gluten-free products, Boars Head as well.. When you know that something is safe from recommendations, e-mail the company and they will send you a whole list of their gluten-free products. I keep a folder, for quick references. But....don't get too lazy with this approach, as manufactures often change their ingred. to improve their products. But......as well, by that time you will be comfortable in reading lables. :D

  10. We have an annual party at a neighbors house and the best costume that I can recall from last year was (on a child, so might not work for you), was a child in a bubble bath and was very creative

Take a large gardening bucket. Cut the bottom out to fit you legs in and fill the bucket with white balloons. Strap it around your shoulders to it does not fall down. Put on clear or tan leotards and a shower cap on your head. Make sense? Your are taking a bubble bath.

Lame attempt to contribute, but really cute on the kid. :)
