ARCHIVED Wondering About Intestines
Lisa replied to JgeorgeSCR's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Coke, Coffee and Alcohol are harsh on your insides regardless of Celiac. You are fortunate to be feeling some inprovement in a weeks time. It may take some time before you see a marked improvement. This is just the beginning. -
ARCHIVED Yoplait Whips
Lisa replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Someone inquired about this in the past. If I recall, they are using up their old containers and slowly integrating the new labeling containers. Yoplait has stated that the only gluten containing Yoplait are the crumbs and cookies. As always, when in doubt call. All of us have had a compromised digestive system and I would think it not unusual for... -

Lisa replied to 1965kid's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
"Last year when I was diagnosed, I found that main brands of charcoal (i.e. Kingsford) had gluten. So last year I used cowboy charcoal, which is gluten-free and real wood. " Hi Laura, Last year, after alot of fuss over charcoal, I contacted Kingsford. I posted their repy and they indicated that Kingsford charcoal does not contain gluten. Open... -

Open Original Shared Link This is UK information, but I suspect that it is similar in the US. I have never seen evidence that envelope glue contains gluten. If there is information contrary to this, please post. Open Original Shared Link

ARCHIVED How Do You Know If It's Soy?
Lisa replied to Nan2N's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sorry that you have not been feeling well. Goof-ups can be frequent when you are learning to be gluten free. I wouldn't worry about other issues until you have been 100% gluten free for some time (with the exception to dairy, which is recommended to avoid) Once you have totally eliminated gluten, then you can hear the voices of other in tolerances IF... -
ARCHIVED What Other Foods To Avoid?
Lisa replied to scottyfeelsick's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am sorry that you (all) are going through a tough time. I do not have other food issues other than associated with Celiac, so I can not advise you about other food intolerance's. I DO know that anyone who jumps on the gluten free diet and claims to be 100% gluten free for the first several weeks, is delusional. (I do not mean this to be rude in anyway... -
ARCHIVED Blood Vs Stool Antibody Test?
Lisa replied to hill5384's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Open Original Shared Link This article should be of interest to you. Your friend is correct, blood testing is not always accurate. It can rule Celiac in, but it cannot rule it out. If yours comes back positive, it means that you do have Celiac. If it is negative, you may have Celiac or you may not. Many people here have used Enterolabs and have... -
ARCHIVED How Long Until You Would Believe It?
Lisa replied to Molecular Dude's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have mentioned this before, I have not intentionally eaten gluten in close to three years. I KNOW that I have been exposed to some form of gluten or at the least some cross contamination. I have never reacted in the past year and a half. I consider myself in remission, though never cured. Today, it would take repetitive glutenings over an... -
ARCHIVED Dehydration?
Lisa replied to LuvMoosic4life's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, it is one of the classic symptoms. Many people here have experienced the same thing. I recall that I could not get enough water and thought I was tripping over my tongue when I spoke. (well, more than usual). If I recall correctly, a very large percentage (80%? or more?) of fluids are absorbed through the small intestines. So if the villi are... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Two Months, Feeling Bad
Lisa replied to mamasaidso's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Sorry that you have not been feeling well. It took some time for me to remove gluten and when I did, I realized that dairy needed to go for a while. I was able to add it back in a month or two. Gluten reactions can have a very loud voice. When it's silenced, you often find that other things are bothering you. B-12 takes a very long time to deplete... -
ARCHIVED Sam's Club: Rotisserie Chicken Not Gluten-free
Lisa replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Open Original Shared Link In my neck of the woods, Sam's Club Rotisserie has never been gluten free. It may be different in other locations. We have always enjoyed Tyson's Baked Chicken. -
If your crock pot has a glazed/ ceramic surface, as most I have seen, a good washing should be all you need.

ARCHIVED Diet Dr. Pepper? Caramel Color Safe Or No?
Lisa replied to peaceloveandinsulin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah....what she said. Caramel color used to be declared unsafe. But now it is not considered a gluten concern. There are a few sensitive people who may react to it. Enjoy your Dr.P. Open Original Shared Link -
This is a specialty in our house. Cook them according to the direction, but substitute Swanson's Chicken Broth for the Water. I also add whatever cheese I have in the house (butterhase if my fav.) You can serve with eggs and ham or bacon. I love to serve it with sauted shrimp and mushrooms on top.

ARCHIVED Worried About Neurological Symptoms
Lisa replied to Nan2N's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
What you are describing is very common among us. Injections of B-12 helped me tremendously. Gradually I was able to take B-12 by mouth. Things will improve, but sometimes it seems like it takes forever. Hang in there. -

ARCHIVED Colonoscopy
Lisa replied to Octoberme's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The worst part of it is the prep. The procedure itself is nothing to worry about. They let me drift off to sleep and woke up and everything was over. -
ARCHIVED Alcoholic Beverages,brands, And Mixes
Lisa replied to Dolcenotte's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Any distilled alcohol is now considered safe for celiac to consume. There is a small portion of people who will react to grain based distilled alcohol and vinegars. What you need to be careful with is when flavor is added to alcohol. Seven up, Pepsi, Coke, Sprites and the Diets are glutuen free. Tonic and Soda water is of course. If you are in... -
