  1. I think getting the gene test next is a great step. Is your significant other going to be tested as well? hmmm I think it would be beneficial to have your daughter try a gluten-free diet, but if she's not onboard with it because there isn't evidence to back it up that will be challenging. I am still stuck on that elevated liver number, the low...
  2. were any of them borderline positive with the reference ranges? I'm curious as to what the doctor said about the elevated liver number. Is there any other reason you were able to come up with as to why it may be elevated?
  3. according to what you wrote, your daughter did not have any celiac tests even run this test: Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 224 mg/dL shows that your daughter makes enough IGA however this is a control test, and is not a diagnostic test such as TTG IGA/IGG and DGP IGA/IGG. Those are the blood tests that need to be run. these are links to answer your...
  4. i think Nicole meant to say she needs to stay on gluten if they decide to do a biopsy. Make sure your daughter stays on gluten until all testing is complete! here's what I usually suggest testing wise Comprehensive Celiac Panel: DGP iga/igg ttg iga/igg EMA Total iga serum-this is a control test to make sure you make enough iga to validate...
  5. Rice Dream did not work for me, and an hour after I had it, I felt terrible. here's a thread I started awhile back https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/102693-didnt-see-that-one-coming-rice-dream/ It says gluten free plain as day on the label, but if you type it in on this form, I'm not the only one who's had trouble with it. only wish I would...
  6. You've got the 4/5, so I wouldn't bother Personally for myself, I would like to get the gene test at some point because I have 1. Typical symptoms of celiac disease *check 2. Positivity of serum celiac disease IgA class autoantibodies at high titer *I had IgG class only, but DGP IgG which is 99% specific to celiac. 3. HLA-DQ2 and/or HLA-DQ8 genotypes...
  7. If you still want the gene test, it is the one test that results are valid regardless of gluten consumption because your genes do not change
  8. I agree with Lisa. Your doctor is being proactive. You didn't score a 20 on the test right above the mark, but a 33, which is a definite positive. Someone made a comment once that I think of often...if you had high cholesterol would the doctor let it go until you had a heart attack...no. Unfortunately a lot of doctors think that one positive isn...
  9. the link below lists the info I think you're looking for right above the Dermatitis Herpetiformis section. I copied and pasted it below. Open Original Shared Link The wide variability of celiac disease-related findings suggests that it is difficult to conceptualize the diagnostic process into rigid algorithms that can cover the clinical complexity...
  10. welcome! did you get your panel run by Labcorp? My panel looked very similar except that my only positive value was on the DGP IgG test. I ended up getting a strong positive on it three times, so it wasn't a lab error. DGP, like the TTG, tests detect intestinal damage. What were your doctor's recommendations after the test? Endoscopy with biopsies...
  11. If you have a ShopRite grocery store in your area and enjoy Udi's bread, now's your chance to get a great deal! Normally their white sandwich bread is $4.99 a loaf, but this week it's only $2.99 a loaf as long as you have their loyalty card. A few other varieties are on sale as well. There is a four loaf limit per transaction. I went twice this week,...
  12. thanks for the response!
  13. I like the Applegate Natural Roasted Turkey that I get in a family sized pack at Whole Foods. Haven't had their brand of roast beef, but I have had the Hormel one, and it was pretty good. It still weirds me out that some roast beef shimmers like it's part of an oil slick
  14. I thought by going to PubMed and searching, I was getting accurate information I am interested in reading the entire write-up when it is released. I would hope they wouldn't publish something like this if the girl were cheating on the diet. Does anyone know if they would have to have consent from the parent/child to submit this abstract even if...
  15. I continue to be amazed at all the places gluten shows up according to this pubmed abstract if you aren't healing while following the gluten-free diet maybe your retainer is to blame...wow. Open Original Shared Link Should I have any worry about the composite fillings I have?
  16. always a good thing to hear. Thanks, Colleen!
  17. quite honestly...im not 100% sure if whey gives me the same reaction, but I've noticed that sometimes after some processed foods my hands will be slightly red, but nothing like in the pictures I posted. I'm only 7 months gluten-free so I'm hopeful at some point things will settle down again. I think a true test would be to completely eliminate dairy, and...
  18. I agree that it would be great if all our issues were that clear cut! I lucked out on this one, and I was able to pinpoint it because it was the only thing different I had eaten this past week. I took some pictures today as I finished up the last of the dairy I had purchased. The skin on my forearm is smooth, but my hands look leathery and as I said before...
  19. I gave up dairy for a bit when going gluten free, and then had some here and there as an added ingredient in a product, and this past week I tried to go back to eating full fledge dairy products like cheese, yogurt and kefir. I haven't been getting the increase in phlem like I used to get, but something returned from my gluten days...dry scaly hands that...
  20. request a copy of all test results so you can look them over for yourself
  21. did they talk about anything related to the DGP-IGG test? I had a strong positive on it three times and my IGA level is normal, but all other tests were negative, including the biopsy. The 2012 World Gastroenterology Report lists the DGP-IGG test as having a sensitivity of 70-95% and a specificity of 99-100%, and all the other research only talks about...
  22. here's my first suggestion...call that old GI doctor and get a copy of all test results!! i'm curious, did you develop diabetes before or after your first GI visit? AI diseases like to have a buddy I'm glad you saw a new GP. When is your new GI consult? here's an interesting abstract from pubmed Open Original Shared Link sorry this is...
  23. glad you had a great time
  24. Here are some coupons found via Hip2Save.com $1 off a Glutenfreeda Product (this one I was able to print twice) Open Original Shared Link $2 off a Udi Product Open Original Shared Link also if you use the ibotta app on your smartphone you can get $1 for a Udi's product too! Happy shopping!
  25. it's what my dentist said I should switch to because my gums are slightly receding on the bottom right side because of my brushing techniques I'm also using ACT mouthwash too. just putting this out there, but I didn't know you are supposed to brush the chewing surface of your teeth first with the more concentrated toothpaste solution and then when...
