  2. granted, the early lunch was his idea. he wants to watch baseball with washu (hey, your cat probably loves the sport too!). so, well…

  3. Normally, I'd say if you don't need an "official" diagnosis and you or your daughter are seeing great improvement on the gluten-free diet, then skip the pain of the endoscopy. In the case of your daughter, I strongly suggest keeping her gluten free and talking to the doctor about options. Having a celiac diagnosis in hand may be helpful when it comes to school...
  4. i have had a week’s worth of garlic today. needless to say, i am feeling really good.

  5. with regard to pasadena restaurant choices for @#CDFEXPO, the post in my previous tweet indicates those places close to conventioncenter.

  6. This is weird -- and I think rare -- but when I indulge in too much caffeine, this happens to me. It got so bad, I quit caffeine entirely for several years. Now I drink it on occasion, but not in large quantities.
  7. In instances like this, i strongly advise talking to your doctor. Food shouldn't cause the list of of problems you've outlined, especially if you have already eliminated gluten from your diet. I know it's not fun to go through the tests and doctor appointments, but you're not going to reach that point where you feel better until you pinpoint what is causing...
  8. probably saying too much about myself, but i am addicted to leafy greens garnished with preserved lemons.

  9. Glass of wine? Check? Don't be too hard on yourself. Or, learn from yourself. I remember, a couple of weeks after my last bite of gluten, helping myself to a lunch I thought was safe. Due to this stress and the other, I made big assumptions. Or maybe I wasn't thinking at all. All I remember is looking at my plate and realizing I was eating chips made...
  10. RT @GlutenDude: {new post} Jennifer Esposito’s celiac journey. http://t.co/IGTsmRsv5A @JennifersWayJE

      awww that is adorable!

  14. Diagnosis or not, you clearly have an issue with gluten. All things considered, your high level of caution is justified. Cross-contamination *is* a big deal, and, personally, I don't think you need to worry about justifying anything. Anything that destroys your inability to absorb nutrients from food, much less could lead to a stroke, will have a long-term...
  15. happy about weekend. 2-mile walk. lots rest. reading. cooked a lot. also olympics, where i become an expert in obscure sports for two weeks.

  16. that moment when you realize the number of open jars of olives you have in your refrigerator exceeds five. yeah.

  17. for the record, i was totally willing to walk to dinner. but i was even more willing to agree that we should drive instead.

  18. interesting reading. Going “gluten-free” might not solve all of your wheat intolerances http://t.co/CLs91MZjiG

  19. For various reasons, I eat out quite a bit more than I'd like (if I had my way, I'd live in my kitchen. Alas.). I super-careful about ingredients, and ask a lot of questions. Since you ate at several different places and had a variety of foods, it's hard to say what may have caused the problems. If the croquettes were gluten-free (which I find odd, but maybe...
  20. Every time you're tempted to eat gluten, think about what you've written here. Celiac is just one thing on the gluten-free scale. Non-celiac gluten sensitivity is just as real as any other illness, and should be treated as if it were celiac. No gluten. No king cakes -- I get temptation, but when it (now rarely) hits me, I remember how sick I was. There is...

  24. making this for dinner: http://t.co/mbKE2AOakV er, the husband is cooking and i’m supervising. what could go wrong?

  25. (amazing thing: he really did do the cat shopping in less than ten minutes. would have taken me that long to reach the door.)
