  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. YES YES YES! My brothers and mother were tested after I was diagnosed, they didn't have symptoms but had all the damage that comes with it, villi were gone, bones were affected, so have them tested
  3. This is my all time favorite: 1 Cup Sugar 1/2 C. light corn syrup 1/4 C. water 1/2-3/4 tsp. cinnamon .............. 1/2 C. evaporated milk In a small saucepan combine sugar, corn syrup, water and cinnamon Bring to a boil over medium heat stirring constantly, cook and stir for 2 minutes more, remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes, stir in the evaporated...
  4. That is what happened to my brother, after I was diagnosed and then my mother was my brother went in to have the biopsy, his villi was gone and his bones had been affected, yet he had no other symptoms. It's good that you found out while he is young so the diet will be easier for him to follow. I would ask that the doctor test you, his father and any siblings...
  5. I think you also need to double check you are not somehow ingesting gluten, double check everything. Also, if you are not healing it could be refactory sprue, which may mean you need to be on steriods, that is what happened with me and now I am fine
  6. I think it's worth letting the doctor know, just don't blame him. My mom had gotten really sick a couple of years ago so I took her to the doctor, I asked him to check her for celiac, although her symptoms were not the same as mine, and he poo=pooed me, but did the blood test. I told him I had been diagnosed by both blood and biopsy, he said he didn't really...
  7. Has anyone ever heard of the British English Crackers and are they used in the celebration of Boxing Day? They look like they are a lot of fun, I was thinking of using them next Christmas!
  8. The board is a great source of support, glad you have found it helpful! Also glad you are listening to your own body, I think it always knows best

  12. Hi Becca and welcome: Have you been diagnosed with Celiac? For me the pain when I am glutened is like a knife twisting in the lower left area of my abdomen. But I have had the symptom's that you describe.
  13. Hi Julie: I have been gone for a while also, but am back now. Hope you are doing ok? I have had the best luck with the flour from Authentic Foods, Bob's just doesn't seem to bake as well for me. I use the bean flour to make pizza crust and bread. That is the Garfava flour. I like making up a bunch of different flours and then it's easy to use for...
  14. Hey Susie: I am with you, just haven't found that special someone again, or yet, or whatever it's supposed to be. Now the kids are grown and gone, but hey I just got a puppy and she makes me heart sing! She is a cross between a toy poodle and s$#&zu, in other words a little mutt! Anyway, I have a job outside of the house, of course with my job...
  15. I miss cookie dough: I saw your name and had just made chocolate chip cookies yesterday, anyway the recipe was out of Analise Roberts gluten-free Baking Classics, and in the book she talked about making cookie dough for ice cream, so when I saw your name it made me smile and I thought I should tell you that you can still have cookie dough! I use the same...
  16. Yes it is from the landolakes recipes, I liked it, thanks for the tips! Tavi
  17. Hi Steve: It took me about 3 years to put on weight, part of that was being sure everything I ate was gluten free and I think part was just my body adjusting to the years of not getting nutrients, but it has finally come back and now I could stand to lose 5 pounds, be careful what you wish for!
  18. Preparation time: 45 min Baking time: 8 min Yield: 3 1/2 dozen cookies 1 cup sugar 1 cup Butter, softened 2 egg yolks 1 1/2 teaspoons gluten-free vanilla 2 1/4 cups Gluten-Free Flour Blend (see below) 1/4 teaspoon salt Combine sugar and butter in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy...
  19. Katie: If I had it to do again knowing what I know now I would go with the blood test, stay gluten free and then have the blood drawn again in a couple of months and the numbers should go down to normal. If they don't have the doctor look for something else, if you feel better and the numbers are normal it would confirm in my own mind that it is celiac...
  20. [b]Happy Birthday Susie
  21. I am having a time getting to the site, but if you google www. landolakes gluten free recipes, they have a bunch of recipes
  22. Authentic Foods sells a multi blend gluten free flour that has xanthan gum in the flour. It works great for me.
  23. Normally you cut the shortening in after adding the flour ingredients. Just use 2 forks until it is crumbling. The recipe doesn't seem to say but that would be my guess. Hope it helps
