  1. Thanks for asking Kareng. I have the 3 test results right here at home on paper. Nov 2011 negative lab no 1 Dec 2011 negative lab no 2 May 2013 present lab no 1 It's not black and white, they use a numerical range like for Celiac tests. My PCP told me it's the gluten challenge pushed the numbers up.
  2. Hello carisima The information I found on The Canadian Celiac Association web site is that they recommend eating 4 slices of wheat bread for 3 months prior to a test. You can find that information on this web page: Open Original Shared Link I was gluten free for 2 years and my blood test came back negative so I'm still doing the gluten challenge...
  3. When I went gluten free I had a burst of energy and I could exercise and lose weight and my tendons were no longer getting injured. The first 10 lbs came off in a jiffy.
  4. Hello tk7934, the allergist I saw did a skin pricking test which included a food panel which is useful to know. It will detect if you have a wheat allergy but it won't detect if you have Celiac. SInce your doctor doesn't believe in finding out the cause you could ask the allergist to give you a blood test requisition for a Celiac blood test panel...
  5. I went through the same kind of experience. 2 months after going gluten free I had some Christmas fruit cake and 2 days later Wham with pain and fatigue. But when I was gluten free the pain came back. I'd get bloating from eating rice sometimes but not sure if it was the onions with the rice or dates I ate for dessert. I also got bloating from milk. ...
  6. Welcome to this thread Rickie. I got a copy of the report saying the gene is present and in 2011 it wasn't so that is confusing. I have many symptoms of AS and my PCP is gathering info before sending me to a rheumatologist. Were your ESR and CRP high? Thank you for the information.
  7. janpell, that's good information about the food intolerances. I figured some out for myself and I did a blood test to confirm some and find new ones. Celiac Mindwarp, It's good that you will be eventually be feeling well enough to get back to work. You had a good GI doctor, mine said you don't fit the profile despite my childhood fitting it to the book...
  8. Thank you all for the responses. I'll respond to everyone in one post not to upset the moderators. Kareng and Mindwrap: I did the 3 test Celiac panel about a month ago. It was negative. Then joined the forum. Then I did the AGA test. The results will be in at the end of May. I'm on a waiting list to see another gastroenterologist and I will do...
  9. janpell, the gastro doctor I saw about 2 weeks ago said: "you don't fit the profile". And the gastro symptoms are just IBS. He must have gone to the same medical school as your doctor.
  10. Hi Arian, Maybe you should ask your doctor to send you for an abdominal ultrasound. I hope you find the cause.
  11. Well my PCP called to tell me that I tested positive for HLA-B27 the ankylosing spondylitis blood test. He had tested me 2 times for HLA-B27 while I was gluten free. But I only tested positive recently while on the gluten challenge. So even if I never test positive for Celiacs, it certainly was worth it to do the gluten challenge if only to be able...
  12. janpell, yes the darn neck pain. It was so bad, and my PCP sent me for an MRI. I don't know how to repeat the findings here as it's technical and too detailed to put here but the neurologists (2) said there's nothing wrong with my neck. Well then how come I can't bend it much to one side LOL. But I'm still on the gluten challenge and the neck...
  13. Hello all above (this post) an update... When I saw a gastroenterologist about 2 weeks ago and he asked me what I was hoping to find, I said me and my PCP want him to look for intestinal inflammation (Celiac or Colitis etc) as the source of my pain. Well the jerk answered it's not as if you have Ankylosing Spondylitis, which ironically is what my PCP...
  14. Good news! Now he can grow up healthy.
  15. When I was shopping for hot dogs I was reading all the labels and noticed that one brand had gluten added to it whereas all the other brands on the shelf had wheat added to the hot dogs. It was on the list of ingredients.
  16. Welcome frncsk, The information I found on The Canadian Celiac Association web site is that they recommend eating 4 slices of wheat bread for 3 months prior to a test. You can find that information on this web page: Open Original Shared Link Peter a moderator recently posted an answer to your question about gluten cramming. Good luck with the...
  17. Hi Lisa... About vitamin K I found this information in my library book on Celiac by Dr David L Burns. On page 145 he write... Vitamin K: a fat soluble vitamin made by intestinal bacteria that helps to clot blood. Also on page 145... "The colon is full of bacteria - mostly beneficial - that aid in digestion and even produce some vitamins such as...
  18. A box of Instant white rice was an easy to prepare staple food when I was gluten free. On top of that you can put canned fish or cooked ground beef and some vegetables. I even ate that for breakfast. That will give you energy to climb towers.
  19. Hi Powerofpositivethinking, Here is a web page I had with some links to more published articles on Celiac serology. Open Original Shared Link That should keep you busy
  20. It's great that you are finding this early on in your kids so that they have a chance at a healthy future.
  21. Hi Dancer, My main reason for my interest in Celiac or gluten sensitivity is to get pain relief. I first had foot pain long ago that went to the other foot. At first the doctor I had back then thought I was making it up as the pain would go from one foot to the other. He finally did an blood test and i had a positive RA factor. He sent me to a Rheumatologist...
  22. Oh NO Powerofpositivethinking.... now you'll never get any sleep. As you know I'm still in the process of getting diagnosed. Personally if I got a positive DGP-IgG, I'd have a parade down the street. 1. I don't agree with: "A negative TTG and a negative biopsy essentialy do rule out celiac." From my readings, DGP-IgG is more specific...
  23. Jules are those the immunoglobulin total levels? Feel free to start a new post in this section or in the children's section. Include the test results. DGP-IgG is the best Celiac test for young children.
