  1. I'd wait till you have positive blood tests before doing the endoscopy which is more expensive than the blood tests. The blood panel will cover more bases. Off the top of my head the DGP-IgG is about 98% accurate and the EMA is 100 % accurate but it is less sensitive. If you are short on money for blood tests, at least go for the DGP-IgG. I might...
  2. Hi yanathin, Keep eating bread-gluten till you get your Celiac blood tests results and post them here for us to comment on them. You were eating gluten prior to the blood test right? Can you cut out all dairy first as a test? In case it helps, when I had lower right side pain it was due to a kidney stone. It didn't make sense to me...
  3. Vitamin C helps iron absorption.
  4. I was gluten free for 2 years. I restarted eating bread in November. I might be scoped in June but I'm trying to find a better gastro doctor, I didn't like the one I met. ................................................................................................................................................ To answer your question: What...
  5. If it's any consolation I'm in Canada and I had to pay for the Celiac blood panel and the food intolerance blood test and even my vitamin D test. I think it's best to not gorge on the gluten foods (donuts, cookies), just eat 4 slices per day but give it more time as you only have one shot at this. The Colonoscopy at the other end could help rule...
  6. In case it helps I got rid of my Reflux (the one that comes up at night) when I stopped putting pepper on my supper. I found that out by chance. I haven't tested it since. Who wants to wake up in a startle.
  7. Keep eating a few slices of bread till the next blood tests. Maybe providence feels you don't have enough gluten yet? Next time look at the blood test sheet when she hands it to you and give it back if it's not what you asked for. Just tell her you read it in a Celiac book. (say Dr Green said so). Don't feel bad about making the doctor feel bad about...
  8. Was it a handwritten note or did you print it . Were the fonts big enough? Did the doctor have her glasses on? You do all the work and she still messes it up. That is so frustrating !
  9. Maurizio, there's wheat and gluten in deli meats, sausages and hot dogs. Read the labels.
  10. What a totally unbelievable story (and I believe you!) Get a second opinion for your paper records. Are you planning on doing another endoscopy? The DGP-IgG blood test is more specific than the tTG. That would be good enough for me. And your EMA is positive. That's 100 % specific. What more do the doctor want? This is a good reminder...
  11. Remove all dairy to test.
  12. notme! WOW, what an inspiring post. A GI doctor who is thorough and who investigates! My blood tested negative and my GI doctor says I don't fit the profile (ie: under nourished-skinny-puking) I agree notme!, a good doctor investigates for other conditions too as Celiac can mimic other conditions or other conditions can also co exist with...
  13. Did you do a celiac panel such as this one: Total IgA Transglutaminase IgA tTG-IgA Deaminated Gliadin IgA DGP-IgA Deaminated Gliadin IgG DGP-IgG Can someone explain to me how she can have: "scalloping of duodenum with normal villi architecture" ? Why is the villi normal with the scalloping? Anyone know?
  14. Hi Matt, Some might not agree, but I think it's worth to suffer now by eating bread and to get your problem investigated properly by the GI. You could also have another condition with or without Celiac that causes similar symptoms. Will you be having a consultation with the GI doctor first or are you just gettting the endoscopy? Is the GI...
  15. Ask your doctor to do a B12 test.
  16. My food intolerance test said I have an intolerance to pistachios but I didn't test them yet. I agree with Gemini and powerofpositivethinking, it's likely the fat and fiber in them. How about testing it with just a 1/2 cup a day?
  17. No no no don't test for Celiacs... don't look for the true cause.... these pills are the answer ....(sarcastic tone) Yes definitely get your son tested. Make sure he's still consuming gluten prior to the test. Here is the Celiac panel I used: Total IgA Transglutaminase IgA tTG-IgA Deaminated Gliadin IgA DGP-IgA Deaminated Gliadin...
  18. Well it's too early to have doubts. Maybe your gluten challenge was too short. Did she check your total IgA? You need that test to be done also. And as you know from reading here, you have to include the tests DGP-IgG and DGP-IgA. Lots of people on this site tested negative for tTG but positive for a DGP test. Find out from the lab the code...
  19. Hi kamarie, I'm had a similar experience. The doctor I had in 2010 told me to stay gluten free and didn't want me to get tested. I didn't know much. Then in 2011 my health problems returned. I've been doing the gluten challenge since november 2012 to do the tests. ...................................................................................
  20. Nope you don't have Celiac.... (just joking) Me and problably powerofpositivethinking are banging our heads on our desks at how dumb the doctor is to order just the one test. You have lots of Immunoglobin A so that is the good news. (mine are quite low just within the norm). By this number being enough, it means you have enough for the IgA...
  21. HA ! We're in the same boat but I was there first. Can you tell us which test? It's so frustrating to see the doctor didn't do the panel. When I was researching on Celiac.com, I read of people who had only one positive on the panel. When the doctor only does one test you have less chances + you were gluten free. I don't think you should...
  22. May 6 - 2013 Hi taynichaf I don't have mouth ulcers but I did read it is related to Celiac. It could be caused because you are not getting enough or not absorbing enough vitamin B due to the damage to the small intestine's villi. Are you a vegetarian? While some people supplement with just a B12, I think it's best to use a supplement with all the...
  23. I did a food intolerance test and some of it concordanced with the foods I had listed prior to the test like Kidney beans. The test pointed out many others like peas, oats, etc. You could talk to your doctor if he-she thinks you should be getting a colonoscopy for your abdominal pains.
  24. I had several dreams that I'm eating cookies. Then I'd feel the OH no! sickness, then sometimes I'd think in the dream... well it's just a dream so I can finish the cookies.
  25. Get a regular bed time to rule that out. Ask your doctor to do an ECG heart test and thyroid blood tests. It could be a reaction to other foods. I have several food intolerances. Dairy is often a culprit with Celiacs. Good for your for being so disciplined with your gluten free diet.
