  1. Thanks (as always, Patti!!!) You know what's funny...i felt tonight like making minute rice, some cheddar cheese and ground sirloin all in a skillet as a make-shift casserole. I might have an upset stomach but when this happens I actually FEEL like eating, which always surprises me! I just realized that this is the same type of food I make for my...
  2. Hi New Member - I'm curious - did you have to have the biopsy (such a pain!) ?
  3. Thanks K8ling! Lord, how long do your reactions last...I keep trying to remember but I think mine run their course in about a week... (Loritab - that reminds me of the name of an allergy med...)
  4. Hi guys: It's AmandaD. Need some tricks to help me get back on my feet. On both Friday and Saturday afternoon we had to eat out. I was very careful and tried to explain everything to everyone, but last night in the middle of the night I woke up with the Big D and feeling like vomiting. I seem to have reacted to something I'm guessing (?) because it's...
  5. Thanks guys! Bought some claritin last night - and will get zyrtec for back up ).
  6. Hi guys - AmandaD here. So summer is just starting here up north and I'm starting to feel my seasonal allergies coming on. Anyone get this around this time of year - feeling run down, nasal drip, tired, etc.? Do you recommend any type of otc allergy medicine that's safe for celiacs?

  11. It's so sweet to "see" everyone on the board here again. It's where I learned EVERYTHING about Celiac. Thank you all.
  12. Hi guys - It's AmandaD. I haven't been on here in a while. I've been busy with about 3 jobs, my kids and graduate school (almost done though). I do have biopsy-diagnosed Celiac Sprue and it's under control. Currently, though, I have been experiencing an annoying constant twitch in the skin under my eye. It looks like an alien is bubbling there ). I work...
  13. Hi - I have celiac and am able to purchase PG Tips black tea in the pyramid bags at our grocery store here in the U.S. Does anyone know if this tea contains gluten? I don't see an ingredient list on the box anywhere. Thank you for your replies...
  14. I would suggest you meet with a hospital-referred dietician or another individual who can help physically go through the diet with you. There are quite a few different ways gluten can get into the diet and it is probably best to make an appointment with a professional who can help you out. Our local support group leader here can even come to your house...
  15. When I was diagnosed by biopsy and TTG with celiac disease I had a normal C-reactive protein and SED rate, CBC...but still had celiac disease...the doctors seemed surprised that I had no anemia. I did have very low levels of vitamin D though. So if he does have it you should have them check his absorption of fat soluble vitamins.
  16. I'm a mom of three kids who has Celiac. If any of my three children ever develops this disease I hope they get a teacher who is as pro-active as you! There will be cross-contamination issues to deal with, food concerns, but if there's a teacher out there who's trying to figure out the best way to handle the situation - and wants to learn - boy, that's awesome...
  17. Hi there! I know how frustrating all this Celiac junk can be, but I have such a great doc and she does a wonderful job of follow-up testing (without me having to say anything about it). Here's what they did to me: I was diagnosed almost two years ago with blood and biopsy. She saw me first at 6 weeks where she required me to have a CBC (to look...
  18. Twinings says on their FAQ's that all of their teas are gluten-free.
  19. Thanks guys - I've sort of decided to switch all my products, too!
  20. Hi guys - I just purchased Dove moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. I like it. Do any of you other celiacs use any of the other Dove products succesfully - like the Pro-Age stuff, face cleaners, soaps, etc.? I'd like your opinions. Thanks again - A

    ARCHIVED Shampoo

Guys - Today I need a suggestion from somebody who feels they use a pretty safe in-store shampoo...like Dove...maybe? I need a suggestion because I bought some of the Burt's bees shampoo and it just makes my head itch. Anyone? Thanks - A
  23. This winter, after I get out of the shower I slather Vaseline all over - it's sooooo dry here. I've also been using the Burt's Beeswax carrot "lotion" - I think the other carrot cream has wheat germ in it, so be careful. It's all healed up my chapped hand and back...
  24. Oh - and P.S. - I'm 30 - had my sigmoidoscopy when I was 29 and they found a little inflammatory polyp and it wasn't any big deal. Took it out, that was it.
