  1. Probably a couple different reasons - a) You could have temporary lactose intolerance, I was diagnosed and then for about the first few months really had to lay low on dairy You might still be getting some gluten in there - check and check and check your diet again and again. I screwed up a few times with a brand of rice milk I'd been drinking. Watch...
  2. Hormel has an "all natural" line and right on the package it says gluten free.
  3. Congrats...it's so fun to get a new puppy (aside from the pee and poo). I have 3 of my own...1 lab and 2 gordon setter puppies...
  4. My first TTG number was 10.5. (Anything over 7 on my doc's scale was positive). At my recheck my number was down to 2.3. I feel like I get glutened every once in a while - but I noticed a big difference when I stopped drinking coffee altogether and just stick to tea.
  5. Ortega hard corn shells or El Paso corn tortilla have both worked fine for me. I hear that Mission corn tortillas are also gluten free.
  6. Nini, etc... I'm sure some of my posts on here might be frustrating to others - I certainly apologize...I just want to make sure that for some of those who are new on the board or are just starting out on this Celiac journey that they see that there are some good docs out there and it can be helpful to get that medical Celiac diagnosis. My experience...
  7. "And it really doesn't matter whether it is an intolerance or celiac disease (which as another poster explained are probably the same thing anyways-time will tell) because you need to abstain from it completely either way." I would disagree. Intolerances and food allergies do not cause long-term damage to the small intestine -- Which is an area that's...
  8. All right - here's my concern just for the sake of putting it out there and I know others may not agree. But I think I'd really question Enterolab as a parent - I understand they can only diagnose intolerances and for "genes" - which, yes, if you remove that food then you'll be feeling better. But if you really have Celiac - you need to get that medical...
  9. Yeah - I generally try to cook everything from scratch but with 3 kids there are some nights when I need to open a bag or can and dinner is served...hence the reason why I also like El Monterey Chicken or Steak corn taquitos. Easy.
  10. Thanks so much for your replies! (We're having lime jell-o with pears, dinty moore stew, homemade bread...just in case anyone needs menu ideas... ) A
  11. W/o even reading your whole post - please don't have them go gluten-free before actually getting them tested. I have celiac diagnx'ed by both blood test and biopsy. All 3 of my kids have been tested so far and none of them have it but test will be repeated every 3 years. Make sure they are getting gluten in their diet, then have your pediatrician do...
  12. If you have been diagnosed with Diabetes then you should be checked for Celiac - my gastroenterologist even mentioned that to me after I was diagnosed with Celiac...(that vice versa, I might want to be checked for diabetes down the line...)
  13. Hi - I understand Dinty Moore Beef Stew is gluten-free. I'm thinking about serving this for dinner. Do you other Celiacs like it? A
  14. I got this one out of a cookbook and we love it: Slice eggplant about 1/4 inch thick. Spread on Prego or Ragu and then put mozz and parmesan on top. Heat aqt 350 on cookie sheet about 15 mins.
  15. Hi - I want to make a normal recipe tonight that calls for Heinz 57 sauce. Their website says it isn't gluten-free. Would anyone on here have suggestions for what I could use in place of the 57 sauce? Thank you again!
  16. Hi...when I first went to the gastro they were concerned my symptoms were ulcerative colitis or crohn's so they did a sigmoidoscopy. (I ended up having Celiac diagnosed by endoscopy) I was awake for the whole thing and the only thing they found was something called an inflammatory polyp - it looked like a little nodule. They took it off and biopsied, etc...
  17. I have celiac diagnosed by small intestinal biopsy and my doc has never recommended follow up colonoscopies (I originally just had a sigmoidoscopy)...Celiac doesn't affect the colon, persay, it's the small intestine. I think you occasionally may need a follow up small intestinal biopsy or EGD to check to make sure you are healing if you were having continuing...
  18. Since it's Kraft I'm assuming it's okay, but just checking to see if any of you use Kraft Miracle Whip and say it's okay? I have a Nacho Beef Casserole I'm making tonight and the recipe specifically calls for Miracle Whip and not mayo... (It sounds really good.) Thanks again, A
  19. You know, it's funny - ever since I put my 8 year old lab who's had diarrhea for years (with nasty blood) on Canidae - she's finally had completely normal waste. I wonder if she had colitis or an allergy?
  20. Open Original Shared Link Interesting link here. This vet has Celiac himself and lists different foods that are good etc...sounds like he believes Celiac can also occur in animals (they've identified it in the Irish Setter)...
  21. I ordered several different kinds from Natural Feast last Thanksgiving - I have Celiac and didn't know how to cook that well yet. They were the worst pies I've ever had in my entire life. I've learned how to make my own - 100 percent better. Do NOT waste your money. They cost a fortune and taste like crap.
  22. I feel pretty strongly that you should be appropriately tested by a doctor at a health care practice. You should discuss your concern about Celiac with your doctor if you feel you have symptoms of Celiac. There are some very serious possible long-term consequences from Celiac. It's important that if you do actually have Celiac diagnosed by a blood test...
  23. Guys - The only thing left today at the store was Kraft's Cool Whip "Lite" (I remember them being pretty good about saying if there's WBRO in their ingredient...but I notice there's "modified food starch" in there...) I'm assuming it's safe? Thanks again for the last minute Thanksgiving meal help, I'm all in a tizzy cooking...

    ARCHIVED Turkey

We bought a Jennie-O "Natural" Young Turkey (says no artificial ingredients, minimally processed, 6 percent retained water). I couldn't find what's on their website called a "Prime" young turkey. The one we bought should be okay, correct? A
