  1. So, essentially, it's a poop thickener.
  2. Anyone on that product - or those types of products?
  3. Yeah, but if you go to their website also they guarantee it's gluten free - and I'd think a company making a digestive product would totally know if it would irritate a celiac.
  4. I bought a product called "Fooey!Training Aid" - to help stop my dogs chewing on tables, etc. It says - contains no alcohol on bottle and the ingredients are: deionized water, sodium benzoate and denatonium benzoate. I know the water and sodium stuff are safe but not sure about the last one. Would this be a relatively safe product to have around the house...
  5. Active Ingredients: Each 19g adult dose contains: Methylcellulose (2g) Inactive Ingredients: Citric Acid, FD&C Yellow #6, Orange Flavors (natural and artificial), Potassium Citrate, Riboflavin, Sucrose, Other Ingredients
  6. I doubt it. Next time you use it heat it in the microwave well - that would get rid of any particular bacterial growth.
  7. Hi - I thought I'd post this and see if any of you have used this stuff, etc. My allergist doctor told me that celiacs don't often get enough fiber and fast peristalsis or sort of loose stools could be a result of this issue. He mentioned that it'd be a good idea if I started a little bit of Citrucel everyday to help bulk up stools, etc. He said it was...
  8. The Univ of Chicago recommends that a child who has a parent, sibling with Celiac be tested every 3 years with the TTG. I found out I have Celiac last September - my doc tested all my kids immediately (all were negative) and recommends another test in 3 years. AK
  9. yep. diarrhea now along with my period.
  10. I was so young I barely remember, except that I wouldn't go to the bathroom for days and days. Then the doc started having me do mineral oil and orange juice drinks and eventually it wasn't so bad...but I had some issues basically until I turned 30 which is when my GI did the bloodwork and found out I had celiac.

    ARCHIVED Citrucel

Did it actually GIVE you diarrhea?
  12. Absolutely. My GI doc said to me last year "even if you're not feeling too bad now, basically wait until you go gluten-free" - she said i would more than likely begin developing symptoms. I did. Bastards. (Meaning that when I get some gluten I totally react now...)
  13. Amy - I've totally gotten obsessed lately with my damn celiac and EVERYTHING being related. And my allergist jsut kind of put some of that stuff in perspective. I have to keep reminding myself and reminding myself to slow down...

    ARCHIVED Citrucel

Anyone here take Citrucel to help with looser bowel movements?
  16. HI guys. Well I had my appointment with allergy yesterday and they checked me for all dairy allergies and a host of legumes and nuts, soy, coffee, etc...and I'm allergic to - NADA! Nothing. Anyways, I talked to the doc about occasional bowel troubles on this diet and he mentioned a couple of things...a) loose stools on occasion can yes, be due to...
  17. I swear to the good Lord it was the guar gum. I think it totally does have a lax effect on me (I use that Ryberg book all the time!) P.S. Does anyone know where that Bob's Red Mill series is? I know there have been a few topics on here but every time I put those words into the search function it says I don't have enough letters...erg.
  18. Interesting...I seam to only really notice gluteny-like symptoms when I eat bean stuff - and I also noticed that I had had guar gum in something last night and I think that's derived from beans...anyways...I had some kind of issue this morning from all the bean stuff - so I swear that's what it is. My stomach p#$$es me off ...
  19. Hi guys - I go for real "allergy" testing tomorrow at the hospital with a pediatric allergist. I'm 30, go figure. Anyways...first - do any of you have a legume intolerance? What happens to you/your symptoms? I'm thinking I have some kind of issue because bean flour, garfava flour, etc...it all seems to give me loose bowels? Coffee does it to me too...
  20. Thanks - I just got all sicky feeling after I ate the brownies last night. It was really, really weird.
  21. I had some Pacific Rice Milk last night (it has guar gum in it, but says gluten-free) and I also made a batch of Bob's Red Mill brownies. Anyone had a reaction (like laxative effect, or gluteney?) to Bob's or the ingredient Guar?
  22. Yes, that's it exactly, gas ain't exactly rosiest I've had - either...
  23. I don't know if this relates but when I was about 8 I had encoperesis and constipation issues throughout all of childhood. I was diagnosed by my doc with Celiac last year. (They wondered if all those years of constipation were really undiagnosed celiac)...
  24. I love the women on this board. I must say - since going gluten free I actually get periods now. Which is wild. They've all been more like clockwork and it's more predictable than the last 29 years...I get nasty ovulation right on day 14 with some digestive issues, then I seem to have D the first few days of my period... I remember at one point my doc...
  25. Any other Celiac out there get loose stools at the beginning of their period? I've been noticing this the past few months and I'm thinking it's tied to hormones, not gluten. Just a question? A
