  1. Hi - Wondering if anyone else has had to do this. I had my one year celiac check up and my CBC and Thyroid tests were all great, etc...however my vitamin D is still low (I consume barely any calcium, besides being celiac). My doc put me on prescription vitamin D capsules once per week 50,000 IU for the next 6 months (then I have to keep getting my levels...
  2. Something about the malt is not okay. I have Celiac and was told not to eat them. They could also be cross-contaminated int he factory.
  3. Very common. I have celiac diagnosed by biopsy. All three of my kids were tested this year - all after age 2. I breastfed all of them. None of them have it so far. My doc will now test them every other year.
  4. I had a sigmoidoscopy - where you're actually AWAKE - my husband I both watched amazed as they maneuvered through the left part of my colon and took about 10 biopsies. It was weird, but not uncomfortable. With a colonoscopy you've got it easy because you'll be put to sleep. My biopsies showed that I didn't have any colitis or Crohn's (I did have a little...
  5. I learned this phrase recently "Energy follows thought" (or thoughts actually create energy...")
  6. Guys - I missed it - who was the celeberity with celiac?
  7. Have any of you in the U.S. used Kraft Parmesan Cheese in the green container safely (no gluten reactions). Just checking before I use it tonite.
  8. JennyJ - It does sound like you're going to be okay...rest and take care of yourself!!!
  9. Are full-size Snickers bars okay for Celiacs?
  10. Monica - Have you ever been formally diagnosed by ttg and bowel biopsy with celiac... I'm curious...if you have, i've got a few suggestions for you because i had been goign through some issues myself...
  11. Yeah, I guess they're going to start putting "wheat dextrin" in it from now on...
  12. I just got my most recent newsletter from local celiac group. I guess Benefiber will no longer be gluten-free.
  13. My allergy doc just told me that gluten reactions are more frequently delayed - like they happen a day or two after the exposure as opposed to within minutes...
  14. Hi - I think I may be having a lactose intolerance issue (I was tested for dairy allergy and do not have one). The doc told me to try different dairy and see how I react... Last night we had tacos and I had some cheese on my tacos...I tried to take a lactaid pill as well...I had some mostly normal bowel movement today but slightly loose at end. It seems...

    ARCHIVED Tacos

Do any of you use Ortega or Old El Paso taco seasonings safely (in the U.S.)? I'd like to make tacos tonight...
  17. What would a 'great deal' constitute - do you think?
  18. Use Citrucel for IBS-D or C. IT's amazing.
  19. Okay. I swear I will stop asking these. Let's say I went to the bathroom, had a nice great poop and then afterwards had a little brown poop jelly/mucus come out afterward. Let's just pretend that happened. I assume some of that is normal, correct...or at least others have that happen? (I remember my doc telling me mucus was very normal, also the...
  20. I would have to second the fabulous-stools thing that was written. I've been incredibly impressed by mine the past few days. I sort of want to "accidentally" leave them in the toilet so my husband can "bump" into them... That was sick celiac humour.
  21. Frenchiemama - You're in Wisconsin, right (I am too...) What group of docs do you see?
  22. Just from my experiences with medical things (and family members who've had to make decisions like this). Go in, get that thing out, figure out what's going on for sure and get on with your life. Thyroid cancer is incredibly curable/treatable. Sounds like you have a good doc, also - that doc found the lumps and is working with you.
  23. Tarnalberry - I wonder if that was the issue - I wasn't too careful about storage...I've gotten better with my flours, etc...just recently...
  24. I tried flax as well - and I tried it from Bob's red mill and it made me pukey - so I'd recommend against that brand. Citrucel, though, I give mad props to It worked VERY quickly.
  25. Thank you for this suggestion. I flipped when I saw that my two Gordon Setters had chewed on my pine wood table in my kitchen!!!!!!!!!!! My husband helped me sand it a bit so it doesn't look so bad adn then he doused the legs with some of that stuff.... I love my dogs but almost lost it when I saw the chewing
