ARCHIVED How do I disable the Web Push Notification box?
Lock replied to Lock's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
I fixed it! You open a Firefox tab and type about:config in the address bar. Click "I'll be careful I promise". Then you find these four items: dom.push.enabled dom.webnotifications.enabled dom.webnotifications.serviceworker.enabled dom.push.connection.enabled Click on each of them to change them to FALSE. For... -
ARCHIVED How do I disable the Web Push Notification box?
Lock replied to Lock's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Yes but in there it gives me the option to enable browser notification but there is no option to disable the box that pops up asking me over and over again on each page. You would think having it in the settings would be good enough, or the pop up box should have an option to "not show this message again". It's annoying enough to possibly drive me away... -
ARCHIVED How do I disable the Web Push Notification box?
Lock posted a topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
I'm not talking about having agreed to receive notifications, I'm talking about the box that pops up asking me if I'd like to request notifications. It's got a flag in my address bar and I can't make it go away in my Firefox settings. It pops up every time I open a new post even if I click on "not now". I did about:config and set the dom.push.enabled to... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease? Please help me
Lock replied to paigeeerose1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Teeth hurt and headaches, very likely you are clenching and grinding your teeth in your sleep. This can cause constant daily headaches, tooth and jaw pain. A good night guard should be fitted by a TMJ specialist (even if you don't have TMJ symptoms, like clicking and popping in your jaw joint, this type of doctor should fit you). If you want to try something... -
ARCHIVED Imprisonment - Choosing Starvation Over Bread?
Lock replied to esgal's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
She needs to find some other thing to obsess over. Saving people in communist countries is hardly the ONLY charitable thing available. Surely there are people in her home country that could use humanitarian aid and Christian saving. It sounds like she has got hold of this idea in her head and won't consider alternatives. It might work out for her but... -
ARCHIVED Vitamins And Supplements
Lock replied to gilligan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Wow you are right, I see it now!!! DARN... I've been taking them. No wonder my stomach is still all screwed up. (Plus I haven't been able to scrub out my cabinets yet, or go through all my lotions and toothpastes and whatnot. I have a whole large box of supplements I'm going to have to probably throw out.) -
ARCHIVED Vitamins And Supplements

I have a bottle of Dr. Mercola Complete Probiotics and it says it is gluten free, also free from dairy, corn, soy, yeast and eggs. Dr. Mercola's Whole Food Multivitamin Plus is a wonderful, complete vitamin, but does NOT say gluten free on my bottle. However, I thought I read somewhere on his website that it is gluten free, it just doesn't have the official... -
ARCHIVED Need Some Advice
Lock replied to apislaeta's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I don't know if OP is still reading this thread. There are a lot of good responses. You are correct, if you go gluten free with him, and you marry, things will be a lot easier. But he has an emotional issue with this and I think it has something to do with boundaries. If you go gluten free "for him", this is not a position he can trust. He wants you to... -
He probably thinks he has been heroically good and it's like the movie when the air traffic controller says, "Millions of safe flights and nobody says a thing but one little plane crash and they're all over you about it." People don't get the 100% OCD requirement. And that Celiac Disease is a FAMILY disease. If you have the genetic tendency, then you...

ARCHIVED Questioning Celiac Diagnosis..?
Lock replied to Griffon3's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Do you have a separate toaster? Are you SURE nobody sneakily uses it? How about microwave, wooden spoons? Pots that have small pits or scratches, that even washed could hide gluten? Separate cabinets? Have you considered airborne particles? Crumbs dropping in your silverware drawer? Cosmetics, shampoos, lotions, hair dye, etc? I agree about the antibiotics... -

I home schooled my youngest the last 2 1/2 years of high school. We pulled her out of school in the middle of 10th grade. Best decision we ever made. -
ARCHIVED Home Tests
Lock replied to dizzydo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
YES and YES. You have neurological symptoms, fatigue and digestive symptoms, Celiac Disease is definitely in the differential diagnosis. I recommend finding a good gastro intestinal doctor as soon as possible. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Based On Symptoms Alone?
Lock replied to scrcdawn's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! I think you nailed it. You probably understand how the healthcare system works with diagnosis codes. Insurance reimbursements, disability claims, decisions about risk vs benefit for treatments and drugs, etc. They want black and white, nothing vague. Everything needs to be scientific and if it is not, they fake it as best they can, so they can... -
ARCHIVED New To Site, New To Maybe Celiac, On Overload
Lock replied to maltobella's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Like you I was sick for years. The doctors seem so clueless. I think you should talk to the GI doctor with an open mind and if he thinks you should do the endoscopy, go for it. If you get a positive diagnosis it will probably lead to you putting all the pieces together and understanding all your health problems. But it does take time. There is so much information... -
Well, I WAS going to recommend "Buried Treasure" liquid vitamin C but I cannot confirm that it is certified gluten free. I used that a few months ago and I loved it. It tastes like orange juice (you just mix a spoonful into water) but without all the sugar, and it did not upset my stomach like whole fruit does. Right now I need to get a lot of good vitamins...

OP could be me, I got my ears pierced at age 16 and had a terrible time healing, Looking back, a friend did it with a sewing needle and put plain cheap posts in. Eventually I bought gold posts and they healed a bit. But over the years I could never wear any earring but gold or sterling silver. I also have the dysidrosis. I have read that it is connected...

I just found out I've been walking around on a broken foot for two months. I'm in a lot of pain. The doctor is sending me for a bone scan. Seriously, is extreme exercise worth the risk? I realize some people have a devotion to it, but if your motivation is health and fitness, there is some research that puts doubt that hard exercise is really that healthy...

ARCHIVED Fatty Stools And Confusion
Lock replied to Macmuireadhaigh's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"End Stage Celiac" is not like end stage cancer. Don't let the term scare you. It means your small intestine villi are completely eroded flat and your digestion is all screwed up. It's the "end" of your villi, but not THE end. Your villi can heal and re-grow. In fact so easily and fast that just a few months on a gluten free diet can screw up your tests for... -
ARCHIVED My Mom
Lock replied to mamaleigh's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The hunger and cravings might be carb cravings. First, I agree with the others, she should be tested for Celiac as soon as possible. For hunger, good fats are the answer, along with deleting sugar and carbs. When I was on a carb roller coaster, and I switched off the carbs, at first, I was not able to get a lot of healthy foods, but over time I learned... -
ARCHIVED Can You Notice Immediate Effects From Not Consuming Gluten?
Lock replied to student314's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I never connected my heart rate problems with gluten until I read your post. I was diagnosed with benign tachycardia. My heart rate shoots up to 150 for no reason when I'm just standing still doing nothing. Now that I think about it, it probably is always after I eat a meal containing gluten. I should check it now that I'm gluten-free and see if it's gone... -
ARCHIVED Test Result Help - Waiting To Talk To Pcp
Lock replied to 1993wel's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your PCP is behind the curve on these matters. It is now widely understood that you can have no GI symptoms with celiac. You can present with neurological, thyroid, bone, etc. symptoms instead. Also you could have non-celiac gluten sensitivity, which just means you can have all the same damage but no actual villous atrophy in your small intestine. Another... -
I can't diagnose but from your description it could be: 1. Nummular eczema. I have that and it is coin shaped patches that sometimes clear in the middle, similar to ringworm 2. Morphea patches can do that too but I feel it is not likely your problem is morphea The hands, if the little yellowish blisters are very very itchy, it is a form of eczema...

ARCHIVED Accepting My Ibs Diagnosis, Odd Symptoms That Don't "fit" Anywhere
Lock replied to 0range's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It is not worth it to try to sort out in detail. It is true there is a difference between most highly processed wheat flour, and the regular "old" flour. Then there are wheat varieties, some with more gluten than others. There are also factors other than gliadin, but gliadin is the only one they test antigens for. If you have been having a celiac reaction... -
ARCHIVED Accepting My Ibs Diagnosis, Odd Symptoms That Don't "fit" Anywhere
Lock replied to 0range's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Good Lord. That's all they did? Wow, you would think the doctors were deliberately trying to be obstructive. That test can easily be a false negative. It can rule Celiac IN but it cannot rule Celiac OUT. My own doctor told me that. Your father is seriously ill and so are you and you need to get to the bottom of it. For $149 you can get your genes... -

I was so all about the birthday cake my whole life. You could have not given me any presents at all, as long as I had that cake, it was what I looked forward to all year. I'd eat all the disgusting icing flowers. I'd go to people's weddings JUST to have a piece of the cake. You are right on about the pre-diabetes, I've got it also, the A1C was creeping up...
