  1. We eat the Doritos Nacho Cheese Naturals White Corn too. My son is very sensitive, but Thank God has had no problems. They taste the same as the regular nacho cheese Doritos - yum!
  2. Hi! I totally understand. This is a sample of what we snack on: Cheetos Nachos (Tostitos tortilla chips, Velveeta cheese and a little gluten free salsa - there are lots) Lays Naturals Doritos Lays Naturals Sea Salt Potato Chips Gluten Free Pantry Brownies Kinnickinnik Cupcakes Haagendaz chocolate covered vanilla ice cream bars P.S. Some here...
  3. You should grab a copy of the latest "Living Without" magazine, as it has a big article analyzing the best gluten free beers.
  4. My son complains of a racing heart often, and this is when he is just lying down. I think this has a lot to do with Celiac because I've read other posts here about that, but I don't know what causes it. As for the skipped beats, annoying isn't it? I've been feeling that for the last 20 years. This skipping can be very scary (for me anyway) and additionally...
  5. I was thinking the same thing myself. I'd love to eat mainstream cereal again (and so would my son) but would I dare eat gluten-free Trix if it's processed on the same lines as regular Trix? Am I being too rigid and unnecessarily overly cautious thinking like this?
  6. My daughter says YUUUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKK!
  7. My kids love them too
  8. Our house is 100% gluten free. Even our dog food, cat food and cockatoo food are gluten free. We did this because we don't want to cross contaminate our son, who is very sensitive. I am in awe of those of you who do keep gluten products in your house. That is not an easy task by any means. But I also admire those spouses who have gone completely gulten...
  9. LOL I meant the lemon one. I was thinking something worse than sunscreen. Didn't know it came in grape.
  10. On that note, does anyone know of a good gluten-free cream soda brand?

Oh, I forgot to mention that he also wasn't interested in hearing about my son's leg and joint pains.
  12. Yes, I agree. Even my lawyer husband thinks this response was offensive.
  13. They could have been honest in a nice way, with responses similar to Nestle, Conagra, etc. They could have left out the first line, which basically said the same as "we don't create our products for people who have problems."
  14. The only problem I have with it is that I think it tastes disgusting.

Thanks for looking, Smunkeemom. I think this doctor's response to that would be that most people outgrow the casein intolerance, but some do not. In any case, I'm wondering why he wouldn't want to test my son to know if he's one of the ones who didn't outgrow the casein intolerance. ??
  16. I basically just e-mailed them to ask if their Season Salt contained gluten. This was their response: Thank you for writing! > > > > Our products are formulated for use by majority of consumers, and not > specifically for those on restricted diets, it is possible our product > formulations may change at any time. Since product...

Thank you Ursula, I needed to hear this. Guess I thought I was going neurotic because he almost sounded like he was up to date on info, as he told me that the standard is no longer 3 biopsies and a gluten challenge, but going on a gluten free diet and letting the results speak for themselves. I was wowed by his knowledge of this new way of thinking since...
  18. My son often complains of this even though he's been gluten-free for almost a year. In his case, I can honestly tell you that its not a glutening. Maybe this kind of thing just happens even though you're totally gluten-free?

ARCHIVED 1 Yr Follow Up Visit

Hello. Today, my son went for his 1 year follow up visit with the GI. 1. He has been gluten-free for 10 months now. He's gained roughly 6.5 pounds and grown 3 inches. Does anyone know if this is good growth for an 8 year old child? I've heard of some kids on this board growing 6 inches and more their first year gluten-free. The doctor was very pleased...
  20. Wow, Peter. Are you sure of this? We'd called them before and they said gluten-free, but hey, something's making my son sick, and if you have inside info, then great...I'll just use something else.
  21. Hi, we use Lawry's Season Salt. They told us that they "believe" it is gluten-free. I'm not sure, but I think this could be what is secretly glutening my kids and I'd like to make a change to test it. Can anyone recommend a good, gluten-free seasoning? Thanks!
  22. Hi all. I'm so frustrated. After many months of gluten free and progress with growth and weight, ds is again complaining of leg pain. Does this mean he's getting glutened? I can't tell you how hard we work to keep these kids gluten-free! We check ingredients in everything and then call the company to confirm. Ds also complained of leg pain on the same...
  23. Goob, your experience sounds so much like ours. Our son went from hospital to hospital with severe stomachaches last year at age six. No one could figure out what the problem was. He stopped growing at age 4 and was super skinny. His stools were somewhat formed but were gray in color and horribly smelly. He had severe leg pain and lots of ear infections...
  24. Do children with celiac who go gluten free continue to grow after other children their age have? I didn't know this. Does anyone know if this is fact?
  25. Yes, thank you. I'd love your recipe!
