  1. mmm, i was thinking it can sometimes get on things and inadvertently get into your mouth. i had to switch shampoos for that reason. I used to use Aveda, but it started giving me problems.
  2. I like to put essential oils/body oils on my skin after a show and sometimes on my face before bed. I noticed sometimes I wake up in the morning with a hive or two on my face. This never used to happen, but I'm wondering if it's possible for these oils to contain gluten? I've emailed Aura Acacia but they never got back to me. Has anyone else had this problem...
  3. Are gliadin levels included in the celiac panel? I know when I was diagnosed I had very high gliadin levels, but I vaguely my practitioner also telling me that my celiac panel was negative. I had to be very forceful in convincing my gastro to do an endoscopy on me (at which point I was diagnosed correctly.)
  4. has anyone seen these anywhere yet? Dying for one. I'm going to try to make some from scratch, but I'm a little intimidated.
  5. Low(er) carb gluten-free/DF/SF Clam Chowder: Earth Balance soy free "butter" Rutabagas instead of potatoes onions, garlic, leeks, celery Native Son Whole Classic Coconut Milk (2 cans) Seafood broth (Kitchen Basics) bushel of thyme Frozen or canned chopped clams (add at the end with lemon and dill) topped with bacon !!
  6. Dominos is really gross anyway. It was so disappointing when they tried to capitalize on a gluten free crust and it turned out to be unsafe for celiacs. It's unfortunate that these large corporations won't go the extra mile to do these things correctly. They are just trying to make a quick buck off of the uninformed (thereby contributing to the idea that...
  7. Hi All, A gift basket was delivered to our office that was filled with Marich brand chocolate covered cherries. I thought they might be gluten free because there was no wheat ingredients (tapioca starch instead) and no wheat declared under the "may contain" list of allergens. Here's the response that I got from Marich's facebook. Are...
  8. I just saw this article on bbc Open Original Shared Link is celiac really caused by a virus? I remember doctors saying this to my mother about her Multiple Scleroris back in the 90's. I thought the virus/autoimmune connection was a debunked theory?
  9. This happened to me too. Back in college, I could slam so much alcohol and swagger about all night. Now I basically puke when I drink in excess. I figure this is a blessing in disguise since I'll never have to worry about getting crazy or otherwise making a huge fool of myself. Cest la vie!
  10. I got diagnosed with celiac disease about two years ago. In the beginning, it's difficult to give up basic things like going out to eat on a regular basis. The truth is that eating in most restaurants can be an unpleasant experience if you just show up expecting the staff to competent & accommodating. I hate to say it, but my general rule of thumb is...
  11. Thank you, that's very reassuring!
  12. Next summer, I'm going to Spain for vacation with my extended family. Has anyone else been to Spain while gluten free? How was it? Is there anything I should know (other than to bring translation/travel cards?)
  13. LOL- buying expensive gluten free bagels would be a good response. I brought in gluten free cupcakes one time and my one co-worker was weirdly fascinated by them. She even took one home and said she was trying to eat "healthier and less processed foods." I laughed a little inside, because they were made of white rice flour and refined cane sugar. Delicious...
  14. Thanks for the response. I guess the big issue is that despite being promoted with handing off bagel duties is that no one ever came in to replace my old position. I'm still doing all the administrative stuff on top of my new responsibilities/position. It's a small company and they're definitely cutting corners cost-wise. I work in the entertainment industry...
  15. Hi All, I'm looking for some input about an on-going situation I've had at work. When I started at my job about 2 years ago (I'm 25) the lady that trained me (my predecessor) indicated that it would be my responsibility to pick up bagels for the office every friday morning. I've always kind of resented this part of the job, though I've come to a point...
