  1. Thanks for your reply Eers. I eat about 120-160 grams of carbs per day so I know I'm not going to the ketotic route. I figured I was probably too low on the calorie scale as everything is just going right through me with the D and all. I posed this question to my doctor via online message and she has not gotten back to me yet. I don't want to drastically...
  2. Any steroid suppresses the immune system so no doubt that if you were on prednisone it could have altered the normal function of the immune system. It is interesting that your biopsy came back the next day. I don't know how they do things specifically, but in the animal world (where I work), biopsies mean that the tissues are cut and then sent to a pathologist...
  3. Good luck with your appointment. I too am sick and tired of being sick and tired and the GI issues... I'm ready for that to resolve too. This is the place to go to when you need to vent your frustration. Sometimes I feel guilty about talking about my disease - I can't change it and it effects daily life - it's hard not to talk about. But the non-celiacs...
  4. 5-6 months?? That long?! I hope not. This is a topic I'll follow.
  5. Yeah... I love it. I would love to compete in body building so I have that added enthusiasm that most people don't have. But I have felt the energy just ooze out of me and this week especially has been hard. My workouts last an hour max and I am just spent.
  6. I definitely don't have a tolerance for alcohol at all just because I've abstained for almost a year as it is. Adding this to it I think I'd have a sip and be just silly. haha
  7. I probably need to be taking in more calories than I am currently right now. I take in roughly 1400-1600 calories and I strength train 5x/week for an hour to hour and a half. I cut the cardio completely as I am too exhausted to do it. I'm probably doing too much. But I enjoy the training aspect too much to completely cut it for now. I don't lift heavy anymore...
  8. Wow - withdrawel symptoms. That I never expected. Is there anything else that I should expect? Thanksf or validating me!
  9. I am newly diagnosed - last week in fact. And I am more exhausted this week, especially the past 2 days than any other time prior. I don't know if that means resources are going to healing but I'm just physically exhausted. Maybe my emotional distress is manifesting physically too. I don't know. Anyone else experience this?
  10. I am glad you feel better too, D! We all can probably speculate what triggered us and be spent here bent over pondering for hours. I don't think I have spent so much time in one place reading, thinking since college!
  11. I didn't read the whole article yet - but skimming it over I think that it is really annoying that people use it as a weight loss tool or a fad diet. People don't or won't take cross contamination seriously if people are just willy-nilly following a fad diet. It's putting the rest of us on the same level and people can start to look at us differently or not...
  12. Thank you D! I feel a lot better but I still am having GI symptoms. I eliminated dairy so that I think should help. I am logging my food so I'll know if I have any other food intolerances. I have not had my nutrient levels checked. I see a specialist in October. I suppose I could email my doctor and ask them to run something in the interim. That's a good...
  13. I agree with shadowicewolf, it may have been the mono that triggered it. I got sick with a nasty bug in April and I think that's what triggered my celiacs (I am suspecting that of course, no real way to know)
  14. I loved to bake prior to diagnosis. I mean I was the designated cupcake baker for all the employees birthdays at work. Everyone CRAVES my cupcakes. But I won't be doing any traditional cupcake baking anymore in my house. I've struck gluten from my house and I'm not inviting him back. I will have to learn the gluten-free recipes and start over. Hopefully my...
  15. All of the websites that have been mentioned in this thread have been super helpful for me and my family while I am learning about my recent diagnosis. Thanks so much! I have a background in science so it's lovely to read all the scientific statistic based research as well as personal experiences.
  16. I've read labels of foods for the past year because of health conscious reasons aside from celiacs as I was just diagnosed this month. So the transition to screen for gluten doesn't appear to be that difficult. For me it's the cross contamination issues that are daunting. Good luck! I know I am grieving a bit for my lost body building supplements, protein...
  17. Thanks Nicole - I have googled the coconut and almond flour recipes - they seem a lot easier. I already make coconut flour protein pancakes in the morning for breakfast so I have coconut flour already. Tbolt- I have bookmarked that page to read. It looks so informative and fascinating. Insomnia is the worst. I was getting insomnia really bad with no...
  18. I love chocolate so I will be on the lookout for the muffins! Thanks for the tip. I may slather some peanut butter over it and call it a day! DefeatWheat - I see a lot of people on here just go with the blood test and feel better by elimination and call it good. If I am feeling great and they ask me to glutenate myself I may just say No. I hate this...
  19. Thank you Nicole! The dietary restrictions to get you down to a stage weight is a bit extreme - I agree. It's hard to maintain - and with this issue it's impossible right now. But that is OK. I want to be healthy - that is my #1 priority. I guess I will know more about the gluten challenge when I see the specialist in October. So far away! My birthday...
  20. This was just wonderful to read because I can relate to this completely. Thanks for the reminder that I'm sure we all will need from time to time. Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels.
  21. Thank you Karen. I don't know how I can justify eating gluten not knowing when my endoscopy will be. It's too painful. But I will keep that in mind knowing that the test may not be accurate if I am gluten free preceding it. I love lifting and being active so I don't think I will change my routine very much. Appreciate the support on this forum.
  22. I was recently diagnosed with celiacs via blood test. I am awaiting an appointment with a specialist (in October - really? that is the fastest I could get it) to, I will assume, order the biopsy/endoscopy. I am 28 and I started to have symptoms about 3-4 months ago. I had bloating (I looked pregnant - which to someone who is trying to be physically fit...
