That is an unfortunate side-effect! I hope that doesn't happen to me. No side-effects thus far, over 2 years in. Thanks for the headsup. -

ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Dinner
moosemalibu replied to w8in4dave's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I did a test turkey and gravy and did notice that the gravy was more salty than usual. Thought it was the extra salt/pepper I put on the outside of the turkey after I rinsed and put it in the oven. May have to rethink that... thanks for pointing that out! -

ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Dinner
moosemalibu replied to w8in4dave's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks Adalaide! If you ever come over for drinks I'll have a can open and waiting for you! I googled the recipes and it is a sweeter dish which makes sense with coconut milk... I was thinking more savory at first. -
ARCHIVED I'm Actually Really Scared... Help?
moosemalibu replied to qudzbudz's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I second what shadowicewolf said. If you were gluten free prior to the blood test then you could have had a false negative. In order to get a positive diagnosis you need to be eating gluten prior to the blood test and the endoscopy. It is a personal decision to get the official diagnosis. I went through the gluten challenge for my endoscopy in October... -
ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Dinner

I have a stockpile of canned coconut milk because I'm dairy free. I don't drink anything but tea and water so I am not apt to buy the wrong one. You don't think the coconut flavor would overpower the corn? I guess I don't know what spices to pair with it...?? -
ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanks~ Both are great suggestions - the creamed corn is another dairy substitute mess probably? I have never made it before... But the tray is a great (and quick) alternative too! -
ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Dinner
moosemalibu replied to w8in4dave's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm hosting my very first Friends-giving this Saturday. I have a total of 8 people to cook for. I plan on taking the leftovers to my boyfriend's family's on Thanksgiving so I won't feel left out and no one has to worry about changing their plans for me. I told my guests that they are allowed to bring their own beverages but I am cooking everything so it's... -

Does it have to be oral birth control or can you do an IUD for your ovarian cysts? I have the Mirena which I love... -
I was always hungry, too! It's totally the gluten. It could also be exacerbated by TTOTM too but I blame gluten for 90%. ;) Hang in there!

ARCHIVED Skin Sensitivity (Touch)
moosemalibu replied to moosemalibu's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
D - your case sounds very similar to mine. I have to be in the pain threshold often to feel the sensory touch. I have had a few sporadic days where I have more sensitivity than usual - I haven't tried to correlate them to my menstrual cycle - I have an IUD so I do not menstruate anymore... but it may be during that time. But it is nothing pleasurable - it... -

Thanks for your input Colleen! I hope it resolves, too. -
Haha! I have started a bulk this week and I have a banana post-work out with 1 tbsp of hershey syrup and 6 egg whites! So good! How are you feeling?! I haven't heard a word from you in a bit...

ARCHIVED Skin Sensitivity (Touch)
moosemalibu posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So for YEARS I have had reduced skin sensitivity. Massages don't feel good, the typical sensitive skin areas are not sensitive. Forget about ticklish. I am not at all whatsoever. But when I went gluten free after my August blood test towards the 5 week gluten-free mark I was starting to get sensitivity back. Then I had the 3 week gluten-challenge so we are... -
ARCHIVED After Celiac Diagnoses - Were You Angry?
moosemalibu replied to tonalynn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was angry, sad, in denial, relieved, angry, in denial, finally have a positive outlook on my diagnosis. But my coworkers saw me go through all the coping stages. It would have been comical had it not been me (maybe) -

ARCHIVED Costa Rica - Advice Needed!
moosemalibu replied to moosemalibu's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I have emailed the resort to see if they can accommodate my dietary needs. I am just really broke right now. I would have to put this trip on my credit card(s). The hotel alone is $250/night and that is assuming the 7 rooms they have are still available... Otherwise it is more expensive. Plus the cost of airfare, passport, etc. I missed her hen party in Chicago... -
OK... So I've never traveled outside of the US before. My friend from college is getting married in Costa Rica. I had planned to go and was excited to go prior to getting sick and being diagnosed with celiac disease. I've spent quite a bit of money on the diagnosis, changing my lifestyle, etc. Not only is money tight, but I'm also concerned about...

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
moosemalibu replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My dinner for the future while I am bulking is 5 oz of vegetables, 7 oz of sweet potato or 1/2 cup cooked brown rice and 3 oz of lean meat. Flavored with 2 tbsp of my choice in condiments. I know it may sound boring to most but I've found it to be really good. I can switch up the meat, the veggies, my carb and the condiment. I have unlimited choices! -
Most definitely. I have some goals I want t hit by the new year. Included is to get my pullup game in line!

ARCHIVED Greater "sensitivity" To Alcohol?
moosemalibu replied to NoGlutenCooties's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My alcohol tolerance has diminished as well. I was a margarita, sipping tequila drinker with the occasional red wine. I literally have the worst GI symptoms from drinking alcohol as well as being a lightweight now. I choose not to drink because it makes me feel sick. It was not always the case.
