  1. OK - so today I am experiencing steatorrhea for the first time outside of floaters. Today I have the oil droplets at the surface of the water. I also am having severe diarreha. it feels like I have been glutened (cramps, nausea, frequent bathroom trips) but I cannot pinpoint what could have done it. I can only blame the extra fat I have had in my diet the...
  2. Thank you for the hugs. I don't like being the 'woe is me' type. It bothers me that my insides are not as strong as my outside looks. I will try to rest. I'm in the process of suspending my contract with my personal trainer so I can get serious with the resting business. It pains me though to do it.
  3. Forgive me.. maybe I misunderstood the concept. Is this a LiveChat functional group or a topic posting group? Either sounds great - but the livechat would be neat. The name sounds great!
  4. Anything solid, floating or not, would be great for me.
  5. I figured it was time to vent through a blog post. Because I don't think anyone wants to keep hearing the same thing over and over again like a broken record. Here is a little background... In December of 2009 I slipped on an icy driveway before work and fractured my right kneecap into 3 pieces and dislocated it up and into my quadriceps muscle. I...
  6. Thanks for sharing Irish! I'll look into that book. Your first book recommendation ( Real Life with Celiac Disease) was a big help.
  7. When I asked for the full Thyroid Panel my doctor kept saying I don't need it and my insurance won't pay for it (I call bullshat on that) but yeah - she wouldn't order it. So I got stuck with the 3 tests she did run. I'll consider getting screened again when I go to the UC Davis Med Center next year when my insurance changes.
  8. I do it because I love it. My carbs are actually almost 60% of my diet. Contrary to what most people think, carbs are essential for strength and muscle growth. I'm very low in fat but high in carb and protein. Thanks for the supplement advice - I'll check into some safe brands. Do you have a recommendations?
  9. Welcome! First off, you are entitled to go through the coping stages of grieving for your pre-diagnosis days. It is a natural, normal process. Don't let anyone tell you that it is not a big deal. Because it is a huge lifestyle change. You can adapt and you will, but you are entitled to be angry, to be sad, to be in denial, but eventually you're gonna have...
  10. Thanks Irish!! I should appreciate all that I have in my favor instead of what I have against it. I had to be in physical therapy for my knee for a year. I totally understand the frustration of that. That in and of itself was a trying time. It is easy to forget how I had to relearn to walk. How quickly one forgets these things... What exercises did they...
  11. Oats are in the freezer. Thanks for the tip! I never thought of doing that. Duh! As for the lecture... I honestly do not mind it at all. I tell myself that I am probably doing too much and it's delaying the healing process... but it's hard to reconcile that with my goals. I am really, really trying to listen to my body. I rest when I feel like I need...
  12. Yeah... I'm 28. I will continue to screen as I get older. I'm happy to not have it, that is for sure. You definitely read me right. I want to be back in the game and push myself. I still am having diarrhea - is this normal just being a month or so out from eating gluten? I take psyllium which manages it well but if I don't take it I am all bad. I am going...
  13. Thank you so much for your recipes! They look amazing. I'm going to get a big spice shaker and mix up your taco seasoning for my use.
  14. OK.. so I went to my PCP on Friday because I had some tests done that were indicating I had a very low metabolism. It was so hard to get my doctor to agree to do the tests I wanted her to do. She reluctantly (I won't be sad to leave her in the new year since Obamacare discontinued my insurance - have a new one) ordered TSH, FT4 and the thyroid antibody test...
  15. Merle Haggard concert tonight in Napa!! So excited!

    ARCHIVED Life Is Good

I can imagine that the bone ache feeling is going to go away after you've given your body time to get over the shock of a new workout routine. The body will adjust and hopefully strength training will improve your bone density. If it doesn't go away then perhaps look into it further. But I get sore. I have fractured my right kneecap 2x and I can get bone...
  17. I go dining all the time with my coworkers and bring my Pyrex glass dish full of food. I have never had one person say a darn thing to me!
  18. NCG - I definitely think that a combined approach is a good approach. We have to be our own advocate. I'm glad you had the idea of looking into things for yourself and solved your problems! We know a lot about our body and sometimes doctors don't know best.
  19. I'm happy to share this personality trait with you, Irish! and I totally get the boy humor.. 2 older brothers.. so I have an appreciation of bathroom humor!
  20. Haha - I can certainly try. Do we have organized agenda's/topics to discuss? How do we want to organize it? A date/time and then just have at it. What about a journal seminar? Like - read this article and then discuss kind of thing...
  21. This makes sense. This is what I was hoping someone would write. Thanks for this post Gemini! I don't do well with fats right now either... which is why my diet is low in fat (partially for workout, partially because my GI says no!). I'll have to try fat with the digestive enzymes and really pay attention to what happens. I can say that peanut butter...
  22. I'm more scientific in my brain but I respect where you are coming from. I do take them because it was recommended by everyone here on the board pretty much so I think practical experience has to come into consideration as well. But I wanted a clear explanation of the why. because that is the type of person I am. I wanna know why!
  23. I challenge that article with this from U of Chicago. Open Original Shared Link Are there any scientific articles on this topic? If I have time I may search pubmed myself and share what I find.
  24. I do take the enzymes with a meal - but I typically take most of my supplements (when I remember to) in the morning with breakfast before I go to work. Since I take a handful of pills its easier to do that instead of keeping a pill box and bringing them to work. I don't take them with each meal though... should I? I thought celiac disease was an absorption...
  25. That is great news!! I am getting tested for thyroid disease Friday..
