I Went Camping For The 2Nd Time Since Diagnosis
moosemalibu commented on moosemalibu's blog entry in moosemalibu's Blog
Yay! I love camping!! I bring my labrador always. Honestly camping gluten free is not any harder than regular camping. Have fun planning the menu! hehe.. you could do some doughnuts or something in the car! ;) -
ARCHIVED I'm 28 Years Old...my Boobs Are Growing?
moosemalibu replied to glutenfreelizzy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
This topic is interesting... because I have noticed the same thing! I had lost a lot of size due to my working out and losing body fat so I was a little sad. But then I went gluten free and randomly they were getting bigger... I even pregnancy checked myself.. twice! I also have an IUD so I was skeptical, but it can happen. Suffice to say I have just accepted... -

ARCHIVED Testing Post Diagnosis
moosemalibu replied to MistyRG's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Request a copy of your results. But chances are your Celiac Panel being "negative" is good. The doctor that diagnosed me used a "Celiac Panel" and since I've gone gluten free my numbers have gone down but are not considered in the normal range yet. Chances are you may be in the subclinical range and that is why they said negative. But get a copy of your results... -

hmm.. I do not have a login for this website so I'm not sure how I was able to get in without one. I did, however click on the bold text in the initial post that says "all 2 new articles" and then it gave me the next link... -

moosemalibu replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
For the most part, the physician being interviewed has great information and is an advocate for screening for Celiac's disease. However... this quote I was a little bit disappointed by: "While in general I don't think of having celiac disease as a good thing, some patients may actually derive some benefit from having undiagnosed celiac disease, particularly... -

I once had a question regarding the production of some almonds at Trader Joe's. I asked a clerk working there and they phoned headquarters and got the answer regarding shared equipment. Perhaps if you asked them for more information they would help you as they did me? I was pleasantly surprised by how prompt they were in addressing my questions in the store...

I Went Camping For The 2Nd Time Since Diagnosis

Well... my boyfriend is a HUGE 4x4 truck enthusiast. He has 2 rigs that are specifically for off roading purposes. Consequently we take these rigs to remote places and drive over lots of rocky terrain. He has rock crawler and a prerunner or something like that. It is very confusing keeping all the classes straight. It's his hobby that I support but not quite... -
ARCHIVED Xanthan Gum: Do I Need It?
moosemalibu replied to Pauliewog's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I think gluten free girl and the chef use psyllium husk in place of xantham gum with good success. I may be wrong about that though. -
Shredded zucchini or julienned zucchini makes wonderful spaghetti noodles! I do this all the time just because of the calorie forgiveness. Spinach has always given me D (before my whole CD nightmare, too) so I avoid it.

I really miss the convenience of fast food some days. The planning in advance for every moment can definitely ruin the spontaneity of life. And the needing of a toilet too. Jeez! And I have only been constipated a few times in my life. The experience was not fun. I was on medication post-op for my knee surgeries. I don't think I would prefer that over...

Yes--- I mentioned that my specialist said I may have microscopic colitis. It was something we are to investigate further if my symptoms do not resolve with just the 6 months of gluten free. He planned on a colonoscopy/biopsy for that. But then my insurance changed with Obamacare so I have to find a new specialist from the ground up. I have a new GP appointment...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free, Low Carb, And Struggling To Maintain My Life
moosemalibu replied to journey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The advice and support from others is fantastic! I can add a few things regarding the relationship front. My boyfriend and I were together a year prior to my diagnosis. I went through all the typical grieving stages that you are going through. The anger, sadness, why me, this just sucks, denial (twice!!). But he weathered the storm with me and was supportive...- 11 replies

ARCHIVED Weak Positive, Negative Biopsy
moosemalibu replied to Teetee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
How many biopsies did he take? Sometimes the damage to the villi can be patchy and if only one or two biopsies are taken then it can miss the damage. Were you eating gluten prior to your biopsy? If you were gluten free that can also affect your results. If you have a family history, have multiple deficiencies and symptoms -- I think now would be the time... -

ARCHIVED Personal Care Products
moosemalibu replied to gilligan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I found that I have a scalp sensitivity to wheat and use a gluten free shampoo and conditioner. Since I switched my itchy, flaky scalp has minimized drastically. That being said - I have a particularly sensitive skin and scalp so I am likely just sensitive and it's not what everyone experiences. My lipsticks and lip balms are gluten free. That is the only... -

Well... today I decided that in order to truly feel like I was getting some day to day improvement on the toilet front was to take it very serious and start journaling it. I am gluten free since a gluten challenge that ended late Novemeber. I did get glutened by cross contamination in January. I'm still dealing with the terrible "D" on ocassion with just...- 17 replies
