  1. Yes... I am very lucky that he is so understanding. He told me that he actually can feel a difference when he eats exclusively gluten free on the weekends when he's home with me versus the weekdays when he eats a gluten lunch. He says it sits in his stomach like a rock. However, it could also be that we eat very healthy at home, too. Very little processed...
  2. I think I may be the only person that has said they cannot tell a difference by taking digestive enzymes. I bought a big bottle so I take them, but I can't feel a difference. But perhaps consistency is key? Keep at it.
  3. I was never a big coffee drinker prior to diagnosis but now I stay away from caffeine in general - even my teas I drink are caffeine free.[i really don't need any help from the caffeine with my GI issues being as they are]. Hopefully others can help you figure out what is safe but always read the ingredient list and inform the barista of your gluten free...
  4. Hi Kathy, I'm sorry you are having a hard time. A lot of us started out that way too. Do you know how your doctor diagnosed you with Celiac's Disease? Was a biopsy and blood test performed? If you have access to your test and results it would make it easier to see if a second opinion is really needed. I know it can be hard (from experience) to accept...
  5. haha he got double the chocolate! Win-win.
  6. I do not think it is sad!! It is exciting!! People that love to cook understand completely. I really have high hopes for eliminating the CC issue. I have not resolved my D yet and I think that may be why... I am gaining, slowly but surely. It is really hard to bulk, being a girl and all. Figure conscious and all that. It is nearly impossible to gain just...
  7. I use Alterna Bamboo line. I used to get a really bad itchy scalp and since using it I don't anymore from shampoo... only itchy if I get glutened via food.
  8. My memory has improved since being gluten free. A LOT. Even my coworkers have noticed.

  9. I just wanted to say that I experience the same symptoms in the morning with a crazy amount of grumbling after my 1st meal. I have been gluten free since late October. I take digestive enzymes, probiotics, etc and quit the dairy. I wanted to let you know that you aren't alone. I didn't really think about this much until I read this post. You described me...
  10. Happy New Year Lisa! Oh man!! I know if I opened my stocking I would have gone from elation to disappointment when I read that disclaimer! I love chocolate so much. But I would have gotten over it, of course..and then bought a new one! Thanks for making me feel better... that is what I like about this board. We are so hard on ourselves and then...
  11. Well.. I have been quiet for a bit on the forum as of late because I came down with that nasty flu that seems to be getting people all over the country. I was down for nearly 2 weeks! Then we found out my boyfriend's grandma passed away after a heart attack on 1-4-14. Drove 7 hours (with frequent bathroom stops for me-- sheesh!) to go to her funeral. ...
  12. So happy for you!!! I love this update so much!
  13. Finally (I know I'm bad) bought new pots and pans. Now my house is officially purged of potential cross contamination source!!

  14. What a great idea! I love one-pot meals! Does the egg cook from the heat in the cooker or do you leave it on and cook it while its still running?
  15. Another Downton fan!! I missed this past weekends episode though, I watch it online because I don't have cable! It is such a good show. I am not sad about O'Brien leaving. I just wish her evil side-kick left with her. I cannot stand him, that valet. What is his name? My brain doesn't remember at the moment. The new lady's maid is also a trouble-maker. Sheesh...
  16. I was so sick for the last 10 days so I didn't get a chance to properly reply to this post! Carb cutting is not the magic fat dropping miracle people claim it to be (it does help you lose weight but not immediately). You are definitely going through withdrawals which is normal. I always recommend people start dropping carbs slowly so the withdrawal and...
  17. I stopped all supplements as Karen advised. I don't take extra magnesium or vitamin C, just whatever is in my multivitamin. The only prescription I have is Vitamin D that I take once a week (Monday).
  18. Fasting was easier than little bites! I'm trying! I am feeling a bit better today but no BM yet. I think the fasting with immodium has slowed it down.
  19. 16 hours of fasting. Ate a banana and a few gluten-free crackers. We'll see how it goes. No bathroom trips yet.
  20. Haha.... our topics of conversation are always colorful, aren't they?! It doesn't bother me one bit. What is interesting though is how I know full well that I should be resting my GI tract. It is the same principle for animals as it is people (because we are animals, right) but when it is yourself all knowledge and common sense gets thrown out the window...
  21. Thanks Karen! I don't think it is gluten either. I just want the best advice on how to combat the D. I have taken immodium today finally. I've had it with the bathroom trips! It is so hard not to eat. This girl never loses her appetite. I'll try the liquid idea but I don't know how I will deal with the 'hangry' if it starts! And you did not ask but...
  22. I have developed severe diarrhea the past 2 days. It has coincided with a cold that I believe my boyfriend gave me. (He does not have any GI symptoms, however) We both called in sick Friday and have spent the last 2 nights in bed. We have not changed our diets and haven't brought anything new into the house that I know of that could have glutened me. I also...

I really liked it once I looked up a few recipes specific for that flour. I made a lot with it. The big bag is now gone!

  24. Yep. This is a great definition. Some people even go as far as to only eat what is grown locally in there area.
