  1. I have used whey protein in the past and it gives me trouble now. I'm hoping to reintroduce it a later date when I'm asymptomatic to test tolerance again. I use egg whites which is the traditional old school method of fast protein source for lifters.
  2. I do eat oats every day without fail so I could definitely eliminate them easily to determine if symptoms get better.... I figured recovery was likely still a big factor here. I did not use to get gas from eating vegetables but then I also didn't have Celiac's symptoms before, either. So I must remember that things are a little different now. I eat...
  3. Hahahaha binary nerd joke! Love it!
  4. I am going to be really sad if it is the BRM oats. Is it a concern because of CC even with the gluten-free label? I will switch them to a different brand once I am out of the bag that I just bought (doh!). I do take digestive enzymes.. 2 a day. Should I be taking more? I do not remember the brand name that I have but I do know it is labeled gluten free...
  5. I have been eating my own cooked meals that basically look like this: Meal 1: 3/4 cup gluten-free oats (BRM) 3 egg whites 2 tbsp psyllium husk (yerba prima) Meal 2: Apple 3 oz lean protein (usually chicken breast, No additives/pork,fish) Meal 3- 5: 5 oz frozen veggies (usually broccoli) 1/2 cup cooked brown rice (usually jasmine by Lungburg...
  6. Aww.. Nikki.. let me show you the way!! I love lifting weights. That being said cardio is a big pain in the arse. I do it, but I do not Like it. I LOVE lifting. It's so therapeutic and like it was stated before - you get to eat more! I love food.
  7. Thought I would chime in on this since I am a veterinary technician. The hips could have osteoarthritis, it could be soft tissue trauma, it could be a disc problem. If it was a disc problem then the faster you get it checked out the better it will respond to therapy. That being said, if it is not a disc issue then some NSAIDs are usually prescribed: rimadyl...
  8. Thanks for your input. I am assuming that a full thyroid panel includes TSH, T4, freeT4 and T3? Is there anything else I need to make sure of? Does fasting matter? I want to say it does for thyroid panels.. And I'm glad I am not the only one addicted to iron...
  9. I'm not against vitamin supplements per se, but I know I won't rest easy until I know how the function of my thyroid is via blood tests. Thanks for taking the time to share.
  10. In simple terms, RMR is the resting metabolic rate. What that means is this is the amount of calories it takes to keep your body functioning if you were in a coma. Just running your organs and being alive. It's about 70% of your calorie expenditure. If I calculated my RMR based on my age, height, sex and activity level it should be 1400-1500 kcals. It was...
  11. I would like to join this party, too. And eat gingerbread. Because gingerbread is one of the most wonderful foods to eat, especially in the holiday season. Yesterday I got the news that my resting metabolic rate (RMR) is extremely low. It sent me over the edge. I started a full blown pity party for myself. You see, I work out, I eat for fueling my body...
  12. Jeez!! People are really that set on giving out misinformation that makes people sick!? What is wrong with people. ::Shake my head:: This one really got to me. Because it perpetuates the ignorance. Some poor uninformed Celiac could read what he wrote, look at his handle, and think - wow I can eat wheat again. WRONG. So sad.
  13. Yes - and he calls himself a healthy chef. I think this chef needs to learn a few things before he makes suggestions on what people with Celiac Disease should eat. I told him no way in hell would I eat wheat. He has not replied... idiot.
  14. I don't know about the Daiya cheese... That stuff is GROSS! Nothing compares to a good sharp cheddar.
  15. Thanks for putting it in the right spot Colleen. I was so aggravated this morning I wasn't thinking straight. this is exactly what was written to me - on another forum for bodybuilding (where I was Not asking for advice on this topic, either, btw): 'Hi Jamie, it occurred to me that you may want to look the possibility of cooking with flour from a heritage...
  16. Someone had the nerve to suggest that I eat red fife wheat - because it's got 20% more protein than the GMO wheat flours. I'm sorry - Did you say I should eat wheat? I'm Celiac!! Don't you people get it!!!! Ignorance... just plain ignorance. But don't you worry - I set him straight.
  17. Oh it is sooooo easy!! And you could easily spice it up too and add cinnamon, etc to make it more festive! I made this crust before I went gluten-free too because it's lower carb. My boyfriend (a gluten eater) prefers it to the traditional graham cracker crusts or the flakey pie crusts. Enjoy!
  18. The almond meal pie crust: 1.5 cups of almond meal 3 tbsp butter 3 tbsp sugar (or sugar subst) Melt butter and mix with almond meal and sugar and then press into the pie pan. Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes (or until the crust starts to brown) for the pie recipe I got it from this site: Open Original Shared Link I made it with brown...
  19. I can say that I feel the exact same way! I have been gluten-free for almost a month and I am a bodybuilder. I worked out for 2 hours a day 6 days a week. I cannot put coherent sentences together at work and I have mood swings like crazy. I have been eating the same diet as you, rice meat and veggies. I think it's normal to go through gluten withdrawal symptoms...
  20. I'm exhausted just reading this back n forth. LOL It may be the celiac disease... but man, I couldn't finish. Hope you two got it squared away.
  21. I made a dairy free pumpkin pie this Saturday! It was delicious. I made it using coconut milk! I used some ground flax and whole oats as the binding agent. My crust was made from almond meal. It totally worked. Silver lining!!
  22. I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease in October and am no where near normalized with my GI symptoms. I have improved a lot in the past 4 weeks eating gluten-free. But I do not eat out in restaurants and I cook my own simple meals. A lot of people on here will tell you to eat plain, whole foods. I eat vegetables, meat, and potatoes/rice. That is...
  23. Yeah... I crave greek yogurt and sharp cheddar cheese! I miss them so much!! But don't feel bad for me. Enjoy your food, you deserve it! I will get there one day, too.
  24. I never would have thought plain frozen vegetables would have gluten. Did the packaging say 'processed in a facility...'? I eat a ton of frozen vegetables. I eat probably a bag a day.
  25. I would be interested in joining the group. I don't know about being a lead, though. I'm new to the celiac disease game.
