  1. Thanks Tarnalberry - it's wierd but since I stopped the PT, my shoulder is a little tiny bit better. I'm just keeping it stretched out well but not doing anything to make it worse. I'm not stressing over it anymore. It will probably be a while before it's better and I'll probably pay out of pocket for help but in the end I would just like to get better, not...
  2. gfp - I agree with you but in fairness I was talking about my own mother being an emotional eater, not accusing friend of doing the same and I honestly don't know if she even knows she eats for all the wrong reasons or not. So she may take offense or not. All I know is that I've bit my lip and ignored hurtful things for too long and I guess I'm just over...
  3. Thanks. I'm sleeping fine so that's good. My injury may be very simple (or not) but no one has bothered to figure it out yet......guess the MRI will shed some light on the situation.
  4. Thanks Nisla - I'll be in touch after my MRI about seeing you and Dr. Joe.
  5. I've been trying to keep a friendship in tact that has been unraveling since my dx. The only friend that has treating me strangely used to be one of the most supportive people in my life. Since my dx (which came right after hers for diabetes which she never told me about) she has consitently treated me oddly but I kept ignoring the comments/actions that bothered...
  6. My pre dx test showed everything at higher numbers but all within normal range except one of the tTg's which was barely positive for Celiac. Biopsy showed I had signigicant villious atrophy which shocked ex-doc. I feel 110% better but since the anemia was my worst symptom at the time, I didn't know how bad I felt until I felt so much better. Thanks for your...
  7. I hope this is not a bad sign that no one wants to tell me there's something wrong/bad with these results. Gotta leave soon so I hope someone knows something they can share.
  8. The ONLY iron I can take is otc SlowFe. It's gentle and I don't even need extra fiber with it. I hope to be off it in six months since my stores are really jumping up since going gluten free. Good luck to you.
  9. After 6 months gluten free - here are my blood test results IgA - <4 (ref. 0-4 normal) IgG - <9 (ref. 0-9 normal) tTg / IgA - <4 (ref. 0-3 normal) tTg / IgG - <6 (ref. 0-5 normal) Endomysial IgA - negative (no ref. or # given) Immunoglobulin A, Serum - 217 (70-400 normal) *last test showed 211 while on gluten so not sure what...
  10. Actually my co-pays were $35 so with every doc appt. and all PT sessions I've paid just over $500 and I'm worse off. So you in fact are a bargain. I will get in touch when I get the MRI results and then hopefully Dr. Joe and you can help me!
  11. I agree with everything above but when I first went gluten free my DH had done all cooking except for weekend pancakes and holiday fare for 17 years. Needless to say when we didn't go out to eat twice a week anymore I had to step up and help with the cooking. When people said the gluten-free best bread had to be baked I thought then I'll never have good bread...
  12. So true! DH and I consider ourselves foodies but now even though I still love a great gourmet meal, when dining out I'm mostly concerned that I'm fed safely. My symptoms are bloating or a bad stomach ache so if that doesn't happen I say I didn't get sick from my meal. It's funny how having Celiac changes your priorities about a lot of things.
  13. Nisla - I already told DH that I would probably have to see you and pay out of pocket but we both agreed that I do need the MRI first because no one really knows what the heck is going on with my sholder. I've now had two rounds of x-rays (one yesterday) that showed nothing so I doubt I need more. E-mal the office #/address for me and I'll get there eventually...
  14. If there is any way possible for you to get your group to Seasons 52 for dinner, I highly recommend it. The gluten free fare is listed only on the servers pda's but it's worth that little hassle. You have to choose a couple of different thing that would appear gluten free and the server looks it up in the pda for you. They have the best wine selection in...
  15. When it cools off here (in Oct.) I'm going to try the new gluten free oats from www.glutenfreeoats.com. I know many who use McCann's steel cut oats with no issues but I'd rather get the absolute best oats I can and not worry.
  16. I was so happy that both my Mother and sister got tested. Mother had tons of symptoms of Celiac so I knew she had it as soon as I was dx'd with it. Mother's results showed she had it and sister was negative on bloodwork. But my sister's son is 3 and has lactose intolerance, short stature and 11 cavities. She will not have him tested and so I'm not saying...
  17. What about when only your tTg is high (indicating Celiac) and they still write it off as not Celiac. That's what happened to me. Two different docs read my panel and both thought I did not have it. Of couse the biopsy proved them both wrong. My biopsy was done by one of the doubting docs. - boy was his face read when my results came back.
  18. I've only been once as we don't have one here but I loved my dinner. Think I had Mahi Mahi and I know I had mashed potatoes. Also, I did have the creme brulee too and we loved it! We are very particular when it comes to creme brulee. I did not get sick.
  19. Wow Lynne - thanks for all the helpful info. Okay my PT is in her 30's and seems to know a lot but when I first went in, she said I had an impingement of the shoulder. She then did ultrasound on me and gave me some work to do every day (hot/cold packs before/after). Okay so I did get better at first, but then I went on vacation and just could not do the work...
  20. Thanks everyone. I'm looking forward to getting some GFB sandwich bread soon but I still have Bry's in the freezer so hubby said no more bread until you eat what you have - lol! We have a reg. side-by-side fridge so my gluten-free stuff is taking over the small freezer. Plus I got some awesome Breads from Anna bread yesterday and I'm itching to make that...
  21. Patti - good news about your Mom but have her get her B12 checked and make sure she gets the actual number, not told it's normal. My B12 was 233 last Aug. and continued to go down due to malabsorption from Celiac. I later find out that new studies put under 400 dangerous for B12, not under 400 like previously thought. My B12 def. caused my falling (shoulder...
  22. Thank you Patti. I'm really not in much pain with tooth or shoulder due to all the Advil the dentist told me to take along with 30 antibiotic pills. So at least that's good. Tarnalberry - I did not explain the situation clearly about the ortho doc. I went to see my pcp in March about this issue. She sent me straight to a PT who then proceeded to overwork...
  23. As I'm still dealing with a shoulder injury which was minor when I first went to pcp and then got worse after PT sessions, I had to go back to Ortho doc today for second visit. He says I now have frozen shoulder which I did not have when I saw him last month. He ordered an MRI. I think he maybe spent two minutes with me (or less) before escorting me to the...
  24. I found a quiche recipe that calls for a hash brown crust so I'm trying that one next time. Of course I don't own a pie plate so I guess I should rustle one up. The frozen kind come in the diposable pan and that's all I've ever used, including the Gillian's gluten-free crust. Wonder if the $1 store has a decent pie plate?.......
  25. Actually I don drink coffee at home anymore but I used to and I frequently used the non dairy liquid creamer from that line which is also gluten free. I got a big kick out of it because when you call the toll free # you can choose to listen to allergen info and the first thing they say is that it is gluten free.
