ARCHIVED Updated Neutrogena Gluten Free List
floridanative replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes that's what I meant it is safe but I didn't see it on the list they sent you. Sorry I didn't explain what I meant too well. I double checked that is was safe indeed. -
ARCHIVED Updated Neutrogena Gluten Free List
floridanative replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
BERNESES - thanks for the list! I got my positive biopsy results yesterday so I'm sort of freaked out but at least I found this forum back in Sept. so I'm better prepared than most when starting out. My Neut. body lotion wasn't on the list but I called them and they said it is gluten-free and they don't know why it's not on the list you posted here. All the... -
ARCHIVED New Delphi Lists! Product Lists!
floridanative replied to celiac3270's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Couter - could you also send me the list. I thought I had it but I had confused it with a Clan Thompson demo list. My e-mail is floridamink@hotmail.com. Thanks in advance! Oh I think I need it 'unzipped' as well, as I don't see anything that says winzip on my computer programs list. -
I'll see if I can get the ingredients from the pharm. this week. I know my doc literally has her asst. hand write all the stuff down and it must be like ten things that go in it.

I was dx'd today via biopsy. I also have a rash that I was told was dermatitus something or other but not herpetiformis. Now I feel sure it's actually DH which is only possible with sprue. Anyway, I've had the rash for about four years now. I have a wonderful rx compound cream (pharm. has to mix it up) called Duracream. It is fabulous and I hope now that...

ARCHIVED I've Just Been Diagnosed
floridanative replied to aimee-in-ok's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Karen, yes I got the list back in the fall when one doc told me he thought I could have celiac disease. I have everything in a large binder but I have to organize it which I will start on tonight. Thanks to people like you on this forum, I feel I have it easy compared to some who have gone before me. I'm trying to focus on the positive. Now many of my small... -
ARCHIVED I've Just Been Diagnosed
floridanative replied to aimee-in-ok's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well my biopsy results are in today and I indeed have Celiac. I should have known when the dr. said 'I don't know why your other dr. mentioned Celaic, I'm sure you don't have it' that I would end of having it. He almost didn't even do the biopsy...... My advice Aimee is the same as above regarding the test. Eat gluten until you get the biopsy. Otherwise... -
ARCHIVED Nervous About Endoscopy
floridanative replied to floridanative's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You are right about everything you said. But I do think this doc is particularly inconsiderate. He was almost an hour late ......never mind. He just called as I was typing and I have classic sprue. According to the labs, the dr. says it's absolute clear, not even the slightlest question. Oh well, guess I should have gone to get a Krispy Kreme this morning... -
ARCHIVED Nervous About Endoscopy
floridanative replied to floridanative's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I just need to vent about this idiot GI that did my biopsy. Still today no one has bothered to call me with my results which they have admitted are in. The doc was to be in today so his nurse told me he'd call me. When he hadn't called by 10:30 I left a v-mail. Then I left another v-mail at 2:30. Now I have resorted to faxing them, just once a minute ago... -
ARCHIVED Iron Supplement
floridanative replied to elisabet's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I started on Feosol brand which had horrible side effects for me. My doc recommended I switch to SlowFE which is also OTC and I did much better on it. It's a time released pill so it's much more gentle than Feosol. Still have to take extra fiber along with it but other than that, it's fine. -
ARCHIVED Most Annoying Comments/questions
floridanative replied to carriecraig's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well I really needed a good laugh today which was provided here. Still not sure if I'm Celiac or not but if I am, you guys have all given me a great idea as to what to do. It is not in my nature to deal well with 'stupid people' which there are apparently more of than I've ever thought before - based on everything you guys have posted here. I have no time... -

It's J week and I'm sorry this is a late notice again. I am unusually busy for Jan... This topic seems sort of dead but I'm going to stand by committment to get through the whole alphabet. Persistence will pay off eventually. Have a great weekend if anyone reads this!! -

ARCHIVED Nervous About Endoscopy
floridanative replied to floridanative's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks Mace - I was told the same thing regarding how biopsies are taken. Thankfully, my Dr. took three samples for that reason. He even gave me a test page with marking of where each sample was taken from. Now if I can just get him to call me with the results..... -
ARCHIVED Nervous About Endoscopy
floridanative replied to floridanative's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks again to all who responded to my note regarding biopsy. However, I have another question regarding what biopsy lab results should look like. I had to wait until today to get my test results but the nurse called me back and left me a v-mail stating that even though mt test results are there, the Dr. isn't and he has to interpret them. Oh and he's out... -
ARCHIVED Positive Blood Test.....
floridanative replied to wolfie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with nini. Your positive response to the diet is your answer. I had a biopsy Wed. and the doc wouldn't put me all the way out even though I begged him too (just conscious sedation) and it was NOT fun. It was not painful but I could see the doc putting the tubes down my throat and I was so mad that he would not put me out. I would not have him do any... -
ARCHIVED Anti-depressants?
floridanative replied to StrongerToday's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
One of my closest friends, my assistant and my sister are all on Lexapro. They all love it. No one has any side effects that they've complained about except my assistant says her sex drive is really low on it but her appetite is too which she likes. My doc likes natural remedies when possible so when I went off the pill and had horrible mood swings, I started... -
ARCHIVED Nervous About Endoscopy
floridanative replied to floridanative's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hey Jerseyangel - I agree about the doc and the nurses let on that maybe he wasn't the nicest guy they knew which didn't surprise me. But they did say he's a really good doctor regarding investigating problems for patients until he figures it out. That's all I want and he has already figured out that my anemia seems to be gone and wants me to take the iron... -
ARCHIVED Most Annoying Comments/questions
floridanative replied to carriecraig's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had to laugh reading about all these idiotic comments you guys have had to put up with. I'm not off gluten and had the biopsy finally today but when explaining the diet to my Mother at one point, we were talking about green bean casserole and how I couldn't have the fried onions from the can she uses. Well all of a sudden and very excitedly Mother claims... -
ARCHIVED Nervous About Endoscopy
floridanative replied to floridanative's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well I just got back from my endoscopy and obviously I'm wide awake. I begged to be put completely out and the nurse warned me that the doc doing the procedure didn't like to do that. So he gave me 'conscious sedation' which meant I felt that huge thing in my mouth, but not the tubes going down. I could hear and see everything pretty much. It only took about... -
ARCHIVED Nervous About Endoscopy
floridanative replied to floridanative's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks everyone. Now I feel better that it will be like the colonscopy - don't remember a thing except going to sleep and waking up. Yeah! -
ARCHIVED Nervous About Endoscopy
floridanative posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi all. Well my biopsy is fianally happening tomorrow. I have to have it done at a hospital instead of the Dr. office but now I don't have a cop-ay so I won't complain. It's at 1 pm tomorrow so I'll try and sleep in since I can't eat or drink before the procedure. The doc asked me if I wanted anything to sedate me and I said -yes, lots! To those of you who... -
ARCHIVED Oprah - Let's Get Cd On Her Show
floridanative replied to floridanative's topic in Publications & Publicity
Sorry I was out of town last week and last week was for the letter H and this week it's I. If your last name begins with either, please e-mail the tv or radio show of your choice and anyone else you think can possibly do a story to increase Celiac Disease awareness. If we all keep politely nagging everyone we can think of, someone will get on board with us... -
ARCHIVED Confused New Celiac
floridanative replied to jbern's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
jbern - I saw a new GI this week. He said that 20% of his Celiac patients had normal blood tests results but positive biopsies. I was surprised by this statistic. Only one of my blood tests shows positive for celiac disease and it's barley positive. Regardless of what the biopsy shows, I'll go on the gluten-free diet and see how I feel and have the tTg test... -
ARCHIVED Weight Loss/gain
floridanative replied to floridanative's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks Patti and yes I'm feeling much better today. I'm pretty sure my mother had pre-cancer colon polyps removed once too and I mentioned that to the doc. Anyway, it won't be long now before I'll hopefully know something one way or the other. I think the doc knows what he's doing regarding the test at least. Thanks for sharing your info. I agree with you...
