  1. Deb, My understanding is that Frosty's are gluten free. Wendy's removed them from the gluten-free foods on their website as they were researching the origin of the malt in the Frosty. Recently, they placed the Frosty back on the ok list as they determined the source of the malt was corn. Open Original Shared Link Bronco... p.s. I will...
  2. From a lawyer's (ex-teenager) perspective, I wouldn't be suprised if celiac disease qualifies as a "disability". Technically, under the Americans With Disability's Act, I beleive the school would have to make "reasonable accomodations" for you and your "disability". I think....
  3. Eeyor, You can't leave beacuse one person gets defensive...We need ya Newbies often are a bit scared about posting here -- who could blame them? Half of the time, they just got diagnosed and now they have to sift through a voluminous amount of records to find out what i ok to eat, drink etc. I beleive part of the problem is that we don't have...

    ARCHIVED Dentists

You ever notice that no doctors, dentists, psychologists, food nutritionists, etc have celiac disease..... How strange...no wonder they don't understand... sorry for the random thought....
  5. Amy's Mac N Cheese is one of my food groups....
  6. I have eaten the hot chili with no ill effects... The one with gluten is the Chili with no beans... Open Original Shared Link
  7. I know this might seem a bit strange, but I have been unable to find any information/research/scholarly thought on how "external" usage of gluten containing items affects Celiac Disease or DH... Obviously, some people have rashes/aversions to these products, but how exactly is it tied into celiac disease? Thoughts?
  8. I have reactions to Ibuprofen and Aleve (Sodium Naproxium?)... It doesn't matter which kind I take, although Advil seems to harm me the least...
  9. Without getting into an in-depth scientific discussion, all distilled alcohols are gluten-free -- some people react to the grain based ones, but it has been proven that the gluten protein is not able to make it through the distillation process (due to its size)... Having said that, I drink Ketel One all the time. I like Rain as well... This is another...
  10. Hmmm, That's a tough one...I have never heard of Vodkas containing sulfites. I thought the sulfites were placed in the wine as perservatives for the naturally acidic/sugary grape base.... Here is an article on wine sulfites.. Open Original Shared Link I do know that Rain vodka is organic and made without pesticides or chemical perservatives.....
  11. Due to your body's hystamine reaction due to gluten, any portion of your body where skin is being rubbed can form DH. this is why your underarms, buttocks, beltline, neck, elbows, knees or any other place on the body where the skin comes into contact with another surface gets irritated. Also, DH is common on the joints in general... It does get better...
  12. For what its worth, I've been gluten-free for 8 years now (wow, that sounds like a long time)... Anyway, recently I have been thinking that I have an additional allergy/intolerance. My DH will act up even though nothing in my diet has gluten in it...at times, I have thought it could be alcohol (I seem to have DH flare-ups on Sundays/Mondays -- when...
  13. Ask LaurenJ for her pumpkin cheesecake recipe... Lord, is it good (and pretty easy -- as long as you have a mixer)
  14. It has a chance for cross-contamination... It depends on your sensitivity.. Some people can handle them, some cannot. I appreciate that they do that...
  15. Angie, You can eat at Carrabas Here are the locations... Toledo (419) 861-2200 3405 Briarfield Blvd., Maumee, OH 43537 Menu 0.00m Southgate (734) 284-5339 14805 Dix-Toledo, Southgate, MI 48195 Steakhouses are good choices... Seafood can be ok too (just ask for food to be grilled or cooked in a separate pan with lemon, olive oil and...
  16. Some celiacs have a rough time with Vitamins, Vitamin Water or Vitamin Mix. Even though there is no "gluten" per se, my body still reacts to it something awful! Hope this helps!
  17. Try these.... Open Original Shared Link www.glutensolutions.com
  18. Sorry, this is long overdue, but thank you so much to Tiffany and LaurenJ for their recipes on Turkey Day! Lauren, The pumpkin cheesecake turned out incredible!!! My non-celiac guests raved about it!!! Tiff, Thanks for the bean and avocado salad and the dressing!! Folks liked that as an "appetizer" before the comfort food!!! Bronco p.s....
  19. Does anyone have a decent gluten free meatloaf recipe? I am now hungry for meatloaf....
  20. All of their steaks are gluten free (only add salt, pepper and butter to them) The Flemings Potatoes are also gluten free So are the sauteed spinach (not the creamed spinach -- it has flour), the mushrooms, the veggies, and salads (no croutons) I also love their creme brulee. Flemings is pricey, but worth it on special occasions...
  21. Hopefully, my beloved Buckeyes will get to play in the Fiesta Bowl in Tempe this year... If they do, I will eat at Picazzos' as much as possible Bronco
  22. I am the opposite.... I lost about 20 pounds after being gluten free for 3 months...However, over time (and due to slowing metabolism), I am back at my original weight -- 229 lbs.... My weight fluctuates as my diet and exercise fluctuates...I suppose that is true for most people
  23. Unfortunately, it is not financially possible to have "dedicated lines" for all of these companies... The disclaimer on the package is there for legal reasons. I am actually happy that they do that -- it lets you know there is a possibility of cross-contamination. Would you rather them say on the front of the package, "This item has no gluten containing...
  24. I do a similar dish, but I add Carrots, Celery and Onions to the sauce and let them get tender, then add the stock and herbs, simmer, then add browned jimmy dean sausage, the add the bread (adding chicken stock as needed) Sounds great though!!!
  25. It could have been eating at McDonalds also... Folks forget that Fast Food can be devastating to your stomach -- sometimes just eating there will hurt. Also, this brings up another great point I was talking to my mother about the other day. Celiacs always tend to believe that when they get diarhea that they were "glutened" -- they often forget about...
