ARCHIVED Anyone Else Sensitive To Caffeine?
NoGlutenCooties replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know many have sensitivities to caffeine, but consider the sugar too. I can tolerate coffee fine. But soda makes me feel like crap. If I ate chips and soda at the same time - especially with nothing but chicken to counteract them, I'd be tired and icky feeling for hours. -
ARCHIVED Floaters - And I'm Not Talking About Vision
NoGlutenCooties replied to NoGlutenCooties's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I do the same thing. The automatic flushers at work really irritate me. By the time you turn around to inspect your output it's wisked away forever... -

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has done this! -
ARCHIVED Normal Stools?
NoGlutenCooties replied to totoro's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The short answer is yes. You can have any combination of potential symptoms - sometimes, all the time, or never - and have Celiac. Every body is different. I didn't have any symptoms at all and I have Celiac. One thing I noticed in your post though is that you take a lot of fiber to help with constipation. If you get constipation than you can't really... -
ARCHIVED Should I Get A Biopsy To Be Sure?
NoGlutenCooties replied to Laudahwiz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I wasn't able to access your bloodtest results but in my opinion, if you can afford it, a biopsy is always a good idea. They won't just check for Celiac, while they're in there they will look for other ailments too. It's good to know that it's Celiac, and only Celiac, and not something potentially more immediately serious. -
ARCHIVED Tendon Health Question
NoGlutenCooties replied to eers03's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Glucosamine is good for joints and tendons. Magnesium is also important. I started taking Osteo-bi-flex when I started lifting again as a preventative - although Osteo-bi-flex is Glucosamine HCI and some will tell you that only Glucosamine Sulfate has been "proven" to be effective. As I said, I take it as an injury preventative so cannot attest to it taking... -

Are you kidding? This is hilarious! Who else is going to applaud a good poop? (I'm picturing some brand new not-yet-member reading all of this and thinking... wow... these people are nuts! And immediately wanting to join, of course...) -

Good thought... but no. I avoid aspartame like the plague. Instant headache for me. -
ARCHIVED Floaters - And I'm Not Talking About Vision
NoGlutenCooties replied to NoGlutenCooties's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yep... I take them at night too - any significant meal. I do not take them with snacks though because they would be too much for just a little food, and as you said - can start to cause other problems. -
ARCHIVED Amazing Conversations
NoGlutenCooties replied to WinterSong's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had to go to a 4-hour training meeting today - and they were ordering in lunch. I had no idea what they were going to order or from where - I didn't even bother to ask - just took my own food. Which is fine... I take my lunch to work everyday anyhow. So they have donuts and bagels when we get there and then they order pizza. Of course, a few people... -
ARCHIVED Is Bleeding A Thing?
NoGlutenCooties replied to BrennanaBread's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I very occasionally get a pretty bad nosebleed - maybe 3 or 4 of them in the last 15 years (that kind of "occasional") - and they've always been attributed to dry, cold, weather - and one was because I took Sudafed for a cold and I guess it worked a little too well at drying out my sinuses. Anyhow... I just wanted to add that my most recent nosebleed... -
ARCHIVED Floaters - And I'm Not Talking About Vision
NoGlutenCooties replied to NoGlutenCooties's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't take it with snacks (nuts, yogurt, etc.) but with any sizeable meal, yes. And I take it in the morning when I take all of my vitamins - including the fish/flax/borage (Omega 3-6-9) capsules. -
I think you may be onto something there. I tend to be very sensitive to anything smelly and am allergic to dried flowers - they make my eyes red, itchy, and puffy. Fresh cut wood, markers, glue... all are pretty much a guaranteed headache for me.

ARCHIVED Alcohol Symptoms?
NoGlutenCooties replied to AlexandarZ's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Not all alcohol is gluten-free. Make sure if you're drinking wine or hard alcohol that it isn't flavored with anything that contains gluten. That said, it seems to be common for Celiacs to have low tolerance for alcohol while they're healing. I've only been gluten-free for about 2 months and I have also found that alcohol hits me much faster than it used... -

Excellent suggestion! I checked and it does have Lipase. -

Thanks IH. I was assuming that floating meant there was still too much (undigested) fat in it. -
ARCHIVED Floaters - And I'm Not Talking About Vision
NoGlutenCooties posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry if this is TMI and gross. But if I can't ask you guys, who can I ask? I've been gluten-free for 2 months. And my poop still floats. Isn't it supposed to sink? Am I just expecting too much too soon? Normal color, normal consistency, normal size, normal intervals (one to three times daily). No noticeable undigested food - except for the occasional... -
ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like A Gluten Intolerance?
NoGlutenCooties replied to kimbokimbo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Kimbo - Welcome to the forum! I'm no doctor, but your symptoms sure sound like Celiac to me. Of course, all of your symptoms could also have other causes, so it's good that you've gotten yourself checked out. How long were you back on the gluten before you had your test for Celiac? Also, Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerance (NCGI) gives all the same symptoms... -
ARCHIVED Did Anyone See Friday's Ellen Show?
NoGlutenCooties replied to WinterSong's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Tonalynn - well said... and I couldn't agree more! If eating gluten sent us into anaphylaxis shock maybe people would take it seriously. Some days I think if I hear one more person say, "but just a little won't hurt you" I'm going to hurt someone.... -
ARCHIVED Help! I Work In A Bakery.
NoGlutenCooties replied to JennaQ's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I didn't have any symptoms at all. No other health problems either, other than early mild osteopenia. I only got tested because it runs in my family and they found moderate to severe villi damage when they did the biopsy after a positive bloodtest result. -
ARCHIVED Glutened Or Just Healing?
NoGlutenCooties replied to moosemalibu's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks Gemini! I have a habit of remembering the bottom line and completely forgetting about the details. MooseMalibu - I completely understand the "scientific" side! I try to combine what I hear from the medical folks with what I learn from the nutritional folks and put it all together into something that makes sense to me. I just have an innate... -
This is geared towards kids, and includes grain products - which obviously are off limits for a Celiac - but the list of "foods to avoid" on the last 2 pages may include foods that you wouldn't at first consider as not being safe: Open Original Shared Link (sorry if this is all obvious stuff to you - I'm not familiar with corn issues)

ARCHIVED Help Me Try To Figure This Out Please....
NoGlutenCooties replied to shadowicewolf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This may sound a bit off the wall... but it may be the honey. There's honey in the Hormel, right? Some claim that honey helps aid digestion. So in combination with what others have said - eating less of it, the meat being more natural with less additives, etc. - the honey may actually be helping you to digest it better.
