  1. There are plenty of studies that show that the flu shot will NOT prevent the death of elderly people from the flu. In fact, with or without the flu shot, the same amount of people die from the flu. On the other hand, it is proven that people who get the flu shot regularly end up with an astronomical risk of getting Alzheimers. I would rather take my...
  2. Looks to me like you got the flu from the shot. You aren't the only one that happens to.
  3. I don't think any hospital ever refuses to provide gluten-free food to their patients. The problem is that they CLAIM that food is gluten-free, when they don't have much of a clue what that means. I've read of people who said their food needed to be gluten-free, only to be served food with crackers, or toast in the morning, because the dietician didn't...
  4. I am linking to another article in response to the wikipedia one, that claims that annually 62,000 people die of the flu. That is a complete lie the CDC is spreading, so people will get the flu shot. Open Original Shared Link Here is an excellent article on the pros and cons of flu shots, and why you have pretty much the same chance of dying from the...
  5. Wow, what a blessing! You must be so relieved.
  6. I think that even though there may be other possibilities, celiac disease is one of them. When they said you are not anemic, was your ferritin tested, or just your hemoglobin? When my ferritin was only 4 a few years ago (50 to 300 considered normal, about 105 optimal level), my hemoglobin was still considered low normal (it takes a while for that to go down...
  7. Ann, I had no intentions of making you feel like you haven't done your own research. The reason that there is no mention in medical journals is, that the medical profession has a vested interest in making money with chemo and radiation, and won't even look at alternatives. Cancer is big business. Chemo will destroy the immune system. I understand that...
  8. Oh, another thing, just because they said you don't have parasites, that may not be true at all. There are hundreds of different parasites, but normally they test for no more than 40 (if that). I was told I had no parasites, either. When I did the Open Original Shared Link parasite cleanse in May, I must have had thousands (yes, thousands) of parasites come...
  9. I just want to mention that there are people here who had negative blood work but a positive biopsy. The blood work yields lots of false negatives, and your GI really should do an endoscopy with biopsies as well, before he has a right to tell you it isn't celiac disease (and even with a negative biopsy on top of negative bloods, celiac disease can't be ruled...
  10. Those blood tests are very accurate in a way. If they are positive, they are just that, positive. There are virtually no false positives (that is were the 99% accuracy comes from). But there are TONS of false negatives! A negative blood test for celiac disease can NEVER rule out celiac disease, just as a negative biopsy can't rule it out, because those biopsies...
  11. Yikes, that belly is huge! I hope that the gluten-free diet will help. It will take a few months for that belly to disappear, so don't expect instant improvement at least in that regard.
  12. I hope me suggesting this is not going to get me angry replies and abuse. But my research suggests that leukemia is not cancer, but a fungal infection. If that is true, his problem may be fungi, candidiasis and secondary to that, possibly parasites. Here are some links to read through, before you dismiss this: Open Original Shared Link Open Original...
  13. Maybe parasites? Have you been tested for Lyme Disease? What about thyroid and/or adrenal problems? Nightshade foods? When you say you feel cruddy, what exactly are your symptoms?
  14. Will, there is a cure for celiac disease. It is called the gluten-free diet. Diabetics will NEVER be cured, as insulin injections aren't a cure, or else they wouldn't be dependent on insulin all their lives. And still, they'll end up with problems as they get older. On the other hand, you can be perfectly healthy by just avoiding gluten. No medicine needed...
  15. I just called my oldest daughter and asked for her recipe. She actually hasn't made any playdough since they went gluten-free, so it hasn't been tried with gluten-free flours. I will make some today, to see if it works with buckwheat flour mixed with rice flour (I may add some xanthan gum). I'll let you know how it turns out. My second-oldest daughter...
  16. Hi Jennifer, and welcome to these forums. I agree, you likely had symptoms. Where you anemic, had headaches, joint pains, depression, backache, couldn't think clearly, had gas, bloating, heartburn, acid reflux, rashes, weight loss, weight gain, thyroid problems, hair loss, sinus problems, allergies, deficiencies (low iron, vitamin D, vitamin K, calcium...
  17. Unless your son is able to, and will actually not only wash his hands with soap and water after using playdough in school, but thoroughly scrub under his fingernails as well, before he touches his mouth or eats anything, he WILL get glutened. If you look at this this way, there is absolutely no way that it would be safe for him to use it. That is...
  18. Hey, maybe we could meet some day! I am an hours drive north of Toronto. Anyway, if you are going to Sick Kids, make it REALLY soon! Because he needs to be on the diet NOW, not in a few months. Sooner or later he will get dreadfully ill (in fact, he probably already is, really). Call Sick Kids, I don't think you need a referral from your doctor to see...
  19. Hawaiimama, you have celiac disease, and your son has failure to thrive. Ftt is THE most common celiac disease symptom in children. Those tests are not accurate in little kids, and even negative tests can't rule out celiac disease. In young children trying the gluten-free diet is the best test. I suggest you start your son on the gluten-free diet immediately...
  20. The reason it was obvious those are links is, that there would be no other reason for the bar saying things like, 'My Blog", My Controls" etc. And most links won't be underlined until you hover your mouse pointer over them.
  21. Amy, I am self-diagnosed. I know gluten makes me ill. I have NO intentions of getting terrible D, having anger problems, gas, bloating and painful joints because of being afraid to tell people I can't have gluten! If you would get a terrible, life threatening reaction to a food (even if your doctor wouldn't agree), would you risk it, just so you wouldn...
  22. Giving soy to little boys (or anybody for that matter) is a bad idea, it will affect his sexual maturation due to the phytoestrogens in soy. Stick with rice, almond or hemp milk instead.
  23. Actually, all of those reactions are consistent with celiac disease. As are fibromyalgia and Hashimotos's, which could have been caused by celiac disease to begin with. Your fibro may clear up completely on a gluten-free diet, by the way. And yes, I always get delayed reactions from gluten. They may not be apparent for a day or two, and then they will...
  24. I don't know why anybody says there are actual buttons there, because there aren't. But all those things on that bar are links, and always have been. Knowing a little about programming, it was obvious to me from the beginning that those were links, but I suppose for someone who has never done any programming, it might not be so obvious. And somehow I...
  25. That, or a coffee grinder (cheaper), or an expensive ($250.00, that's what my oldest daughter has, and its fabolous) food processor. My cheap one won't do it, it only slices veggies dependably.
