  1. WRowland - I had to reply to something you said. "Don't focus on what you cannot eat. The gluten free diet is one of the healthiest I've ever seen. If you give it a reasonable try you will certainly avoid all of the complications, symptomatic and silent, of celiac. But you will also avoid most of the other things that are killing people in the industrialized...
  2. Hi! I'd love to meet people near me especially those who are new to this too. I have only been gluten-free for two weeks now. I know there is a support group in Phoenix but I was hoping for something smaller. I would love to get together with a few people and learn how to eat out. I am married, 46, love animals and crafts. We have three BIG dogs and 4 cats...
  3. "I have not heard of a too high 'overall' IgA... Gina" You got me thinking so I have spent over an hour researching this. Here are a few things that I found: Table 3. Reference Ranges for Gliadin Antibodies (ELISA Units) Children Adults IgA Gliadin antibodies <25 <34 IgG Gliadin antibodies <4...
  4. Thanks Gina. You have me wondering now too! I dug out my blood test results and under my gliadin antibody panel it said: Gliadin Ab Iga >100 and Gliadin Ab IgG >100. Positive range is >17. My iron and TIBC are both very low too. I looked at the link you sent and will research this more. I guess I was totally trusting my hematologist since he specialized...
  5. I'm still new at this and have been wondering about the blood tests too. I do know that my Iga & Igg were over 100. I also had the biopsy and have severe damage to my villi. Too many years of not knowing what I had! I can't find my last blood test results or I would tell you what mine are. Good luck!
  6. Okay, I called the company this morning. This soup is gluten-free BUT it is processed in the same place as foods that contain gluten. In fact, ALL their products are. So, with a chance of cross contamination, do you not eat anything they make? I am confused at this point as it seems so many gluten-free products have a chance of being cross contaminated....
  7. Angela, I have a reply from Paul Mitchell that lists all their gluten-free products. It was posted here but if you can't find it (I am new too and it gets confusing to find posts!) I can email the list to you. Jo Ann
  8. Maybe someone can help me here. I bought Health Valley, Organic Cream of Chicken Soup. I read the label and thought it was gluten-free ... am I wrong? Here are the ingredients: filtered water, organic cream, organic rice flour, organic chicken, organic soy protein, organic corn starch, organic chicken broth, salt, organic celery concentrate, organic canola...
  9. Hi! I can't answer your question for sure as I am new too but I have heard everything from weeks to months. I have been gluten free for 2 weeks. I hope I feel better soon! There is an abundance of information here. I have found it extremely helpful. These wonderful people know more than most of the doctors do. Good luck!
  10. Thanks Cornbread! I am compiling a collection of recipes and will try them all one day.
  11. So did I.
  12. How about Vegas?
  13. Thank you! I just set my TiVo to record that.
  14. Debbie, I have not eaten at Outback since my gluten-free rebirth but I did speak to them right before I got my results. They seem great and their menu is just like their regular ones so you won't feel "different". I am going to go there this weekend too. I will let you know how it is. I go to the one on Clearview (near Superstition and Power). They...
  15. Thanks Julie! I just read the articles and was so happy to see the media covering this! More need to follow. Jo Ann
  16. celiac3270 - THANK YOU! I just printed their gluten-free menu and showed it to my husband. We are going there this weekend! I am really excited to try eating out. I haven't really gone that route yet. Jo Ann
  17. Eeyor - I posted a thing on Paul Mitchell Products. If you can't find it, let me know and I will email a copy of what the company sent to me. I am new too so I share in your fears and concerns. Jo Ann
  18. Debbie - I live in Mesa too! My husband will be so happy that I can eat out somewhere other than Outback! Jo Ann
  19. I am so glad that I found this place! I think we are all "lonely" to some point. We also suffered a big loss when you factor in all the things we can't eat or do. I have a wonderful husband in most senses but he is tired of hearing me talk about food and Celiac 24/7. I understand how he feels but this is what consumes my life right now. The people on...
  20. Thank you all for your words of wisdom! I appreciate everyone's input. As a new Celiac, it is so hard to figure everything out alone. I just called the company and they said that there is "minimal to no risk" of cross contamination as they "practice safe processing procedures". First of all, isn't a minimal risk, still a risk? Second, maybe it was the...
  21. Thank you, Cornbread. I still feel so bloated and am so mad at thinking I could have something like real spaghetti. I should have known! It tasted way too good. I will try to avoid corn and see what happens. Do you know why corn on the cob doesn't bother me? I will try that rice pasta. Thanks!
  22. I'll join if the car comes with membership! Ha ha
