ARCHIVED General Symptoms Question
jrom987 replied to zip2play's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Monica, Being newly diagnosed, I do not have all the answers but I do know that symptoms change and there are hundreds of them! I have so many of them myself. I would ask for the blood tests but you have to make sure that you are consuming gluten for the tests to be accurate. Someone will post the ones they think you should have. I am not experienced... -
Hello! Hang in there! My bones hurt too. Plus I have had three (all bad) shoulder surgeries, and 6 (all bad) hand surgeries. My husband and I go to the gym but I do the things that are comfortable for me to do. I also have tremendous leg pain and swelling. I think it is circulation and vein problems too. I found that the treadmill is bad for me. My knees...

ARCHIVED Blood Tests
jrom987 replied to jrom987's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you! I trust your opinions! I have been gluten-free for almost three weeks now. I knew I had it before I had the biopsy. Too bad no doctor ever mentioned celiac disease to me in all these years. I would have researched it and knew the cause for all my problems! -
I already know for sure that I have celiac disease as my biospy came back with severe villi damage. Also my AgI and AgA were very high. Not to mention all the symptoms. I see my hematologist in a few weeks and was wondering if I should have the DNA testing or some others that people keep talking about. Is it important to have as many positive tests or is...

ARCHIVED What Happens At A Biopsy?
jrom987 replied to Wendyp's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Everyone said it just as it is. I have had several endoscopies over the years and only one bad experience. Years ago, a doctor did a biopsy and I was not drugged enough. He just gave me a little more and I do not remember the rest. Too bad he did not look for damage to the villi 10 years ago! Knowing that you will not remember anything, I never minded... -
ARCHIVED New Here
jrom987 replied to Eeyorific's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Kristie! Wow! You have been through so mcuh! I have had some of the same symptoms most likely for my entire life (my son also has some of them). I am now 46 and was just dx'd with celiac disease. I am trying to get my 23 yr old son to be tested but ... that is another story. What I want to say is KUDOS TO YOU! You are a really good mom and I love hearing... -
ARCHIVED Albertson's Rocks
jrom987 replied to elonwy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
FYI - my Sateway in AZ carries Amy's frozen foods which are really, really good! They are starting to carry a few things so maybe it will catch on with all the grocery stores. Whole Foods is a great place but they are a bit pricey. I need to check out my Albertson's. Thanks for the heads up! -
My husband and I ate at Outback tonight and had a great dinner! I had no problems at all from my meal and it was soooo good! I have to admit that my server didn't really have a clue but she should interest and my meal was perfect. She did hunt down the gluten-free menu but she really didn't know about what was safe and what wasn't. I asked about the butter...

I shopped at the Family Dollar store and they had Glad food storage containers. I bought several and wit a permanent marker, wrote gluten-free on them. The men know that my gluten-free shelf is off limits and so is anything marked with a gluten-free on it. I seems to be working. I also picked up new frying pans there while I was at it. I didn't spend more...

ARCHIVED Cold Sores
jrom987 replied to irish's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Got one myself right now. I use Abreva. It is a little bit expensive but it works. I do not have the package anymore so I am not sure if it is gluten-free or not. I am praying it is because I get them often. -

ARCHIVED New To Board And Gluten Free
jrom987 replied to KateGlutenFree's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Kate, I know what you mean. It is hard eating out with people especially your family. My husband went to a pizza place with me today that has a wide variety of menu items that ar egluten free. It was good. He was able to eat the chicken wings as an appetizer and "real" pizza while I had the gluten free cheese bread and gluten-free cheese pizza. Also... -
Hello! I know you all are so knowledgeable so please send some advice my way. I am going to the state fair with my non Celiac husband and I wanted to know if there are any safe foods at a place like that? My husband doesn't think he will have fun if I can't eat like he does. I told him I did not mind packing some snacks for myself but I thought maybe...

ARCHIVED New To Board And Gluten Free
jrom987 replied to KateGlutenFree's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Kate! Welcome! You are in the right place to find answers as the people on here know so much! Good luck with this. I am new to this too but I wanted to add one thing. I may have misunderstood your post but you have not been tested for celiac disease yet? If not, did you know that you MUST continue consuming gluten to get accurate test results? Just... -
ARCHIVED My Husband Called Me A Hypochondriac
jrom987 replied to Nantzie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
bobcatgirl, Why are you stuck in the house? Just curious! I think that is why we are all here. To support each other. I also do not have anyone to really support me with this new life. I am not a really religious person but I do believe that God leads us to where we need to be and that is why I found this site. I think we can make great friends... -
ARCHIVED My Husband Called Me A Hypochondriac
jrom987 replied to Nantzie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm also happy to read that I am not alone! My husband is wonderful in so many ways but dealing with my obsessiveness over gluten is not one! That is why I am here every day. I need to know that there are people in this world who will listen and give advice when my family has heard enough. I am extremely obsessed too! I have made a notebook with sections... -
ARCHIVED Any Other Tall Celiacs Out There?
jrom987 replied to LqrMan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You are all tall to me! Ha ha! I am 5 feet, nothing! I have been chubby all my life. My son was only 5 pounds, 9 ounces at birth and he is only 5'6 at 23 years old. He is normal weight. I think he has celiac disease too. I am trying to convince him to get tested since I was dx three weeks ago. -
Thanks Carrie!
-
Food, My heart goes out to you! I have been gluten-free for two and a half weeks and it is harder than I thought it would be! I, too, was so happy to finally have an answer to why I feel 20 years older. I was so happy for my husband to know that my aches and pains are real. I have not had too hard of a time adjusting as I know this is the best thing...

My husband and I were going there for dinner tonight for my first "gluten-free dinner out". Should I bring my own butter? I will stress the "no croutons in my salad". What else should I be aware of? If I get the brownie dessert, should I just ask for it plain? I am nervous now! I thought Outback would be the perfect place for my first experience. They showed...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Soup
jrom987 replied to GlutenGirl144's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ken, Just wanted to post this reply that I got from Amy's when I wrote to ask about cross contamination. I though it might help other newly dx'd people. Thanks for your response! "We understand that it is critical that our products be free of gluten and we take this very seriously. To avoid cross-contamination, we generally manufacture full shift runs... -
Tiffany, I went 10-15 years, maybe my entire life, before being diagnosed with celiac disease. I also have very low iron and took iron pills three times a day, with no improvement. I have seen every doctor imaginable in CA and 2 years afer moving to AZ, I was sent to a hematologist and he suspected right away what was wrong with me. Of course, he ran the...
