ARCHIVED Doctors Think I'm Crazy!
jrom987 replied to danikali's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Danikali, I have to say that I thought I was reading my own story! I have been suffering for 12 or more years. In fact, when I think back, I have had symptoms my entire life. I, too, saw so many specialists (several GI docs). I had at least 10 endoscopies trhroughout my life (never a biopsy until last month), every test imaginable and then some. I was... -
ARCHIVED Albertson's Gf Products
jrom987 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I contacted one of my local grocery stores, Albertson's, to ask about some of their name brand products and they sent a list for all their brands. It specifies gluten-free or not ... It is an Excel worksheet and long so I cannot paste it here but if anyone is interested, I will be happy to email an attachment. Jo Ann -
ARCHIVED Irregular Periods Post Gluten Free Diet
jrom987 replied to de caps's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have been so irregular for the past 10 years. My new doctor thinks that celiac disease could be the cause of it. I go months and months without a period. I have had very low iron for years too. One doctor thought I was starting early menopause but the estrogen levels were normal. It would be interesting to find out if this is another symptom of celiac disease... -
I agree with Kaiti. Everyone is different. I have only had one known reaction and it was within 30 minutes after eating. I am hoping I continue to do this right but I am sure to get glutened again. From what I have read here, it seems to happen to most people. We just have to do our absolute best to stay gluten-free and learn from any mistakes that are...

ARCHIVED Missing My Italian Food!
jrom987 replied to jrom987's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't tried that brand yet. I am a bit scared to try another pasta as I had a reaction my second week to DeBoles corn spaghetti. That was my one and only reaction since starting 3 weeks ago. I bought some rice pasta to try but will still look for that brand on my next trip to the market. Thanks! -
I did notice some discrepencies in the Gluten Free Bible but some of the things it said was helpful. In my opinion, the best answers are given here. I like to read as much as I can so I can ask more intelligent questions. I feel pretty stupid since starting this three weeks ago. Jo Ann

ARCHIVED Missing My Italian Food!
jrom987 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just wanted to share this with all of you. My husband ate the gluten-free dinner I made tonight and liked it! I was shocked because he hasn't wanted to try anything new. I am Italian and already missing my old meals. So, when life throws corn tortillas at me, I make lasagna! It was so good! I am not a gourmet cook or anything but this came to me and I threw... -
I am new at this but I am probably the Queen of book buying! Here are the ones I have and have on order. ARCHIVED Gf Cold Cereals
jrom987 replied to aldociao's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I absolutely love the cereal that I found and have had no reaction to it at all. BUT since it does not specify that it is gluten-free, I just called the company to ask. They do not label it gluten-free because "it is processed in a plant that produces wheat products". However, he did say it there products are tested and if any cross contamination has occured... -
ARCHIVED Halloween Boo Boo
jrom987 replied to Bette's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I found on a cool website: "Have you ever used a Gluten Home Test Kit? I was over the moon when I discovered I could buy a gluten home test kit from Tepnel. On my travels, I had frequently been made ill by products marked 'gluten free' and desperately needed some way to test them. It was slightly less exciting to find out that the test kit costs over... -
ARCHIVED Mysteriously Glutened By Amy's Kitchen?
jrom987 replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I wanted to see what I could find out to better understand the contamination in our processed foods. I found this site and thought someone else might like to read it. Open Original Shared Link Jo Ann -
"I went out to eat last night for the first time since going gluten-free, and it was no fun. I felt like such a nag to the waitress. I wanted to cry. The guy sitting across from me was eating mozerella sticks dipped in marinara sauce, and my son had a hamburger with fries. Someone else had a club sandwich (my favorite!). I'm hoping that after awhile...

ARCHIVED Halloween Boo Boo
jrom987 replied to Bette's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am new to this and was wondering 1) how did you find out that you are sensitive down to 31 parts? and 2) who sent it the University of Nebraska for testing? I eat Amy's stuff all the time and have not had any problems with it that I have noticed so I am very curious. Thanks! Jo Ann -

ARCHIVED General Symptoms Question
jrom987 replied to zip2play's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't know for sure but it could be. My right foot has been swollen for over 4 years and no one knows why. I have seen every specialist my primary doctor could think of sending me to. I have had every test imaginable also. I stopped looking for a reason about 2 years ago and just deal with two different sized feet. I also have edema in the right leg. Maybe... -

ARCHIVED Caramel Color
jrom987 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hello! I am stuck again with not understanding what it is about caramel color that we are not supposed to have. Can anyone explain this to me? Also, are Frito's and Tostitos okay or not? It is my understanding that they are not produced on dedicated productions lines. Am I wrong? I noticed, according to what I read here. that Lays Stax are okay... -

ARCHIVED General Symptoms Question
jrom987 replied to zip2play's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Monica, Thanks for asking how I feel! I have to knock on wood as I say this. Yesterday and today are the first days in a very long time that I have gotten out of bed without a raging backache and headache. I can actually stand up straight without holding my back and whimpering. I can't tell you how much I am hoping this is real and not a dream! Ha ha... -
ARCHIVED Albertson's Rocks
jrom987 replied to elonwy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just wanted to add this. I went to Albertson's yesterday and I had to ask where gluten free foods were. They do not have their special foods separate from everything else. I had to look with all the regular food. I found the cereal but didn't feel like spending 5 hours in the grocery store last night. I will look at more items next time I go there. I do... -
Claire, I have been reading so much here about CoQ10. Can you tell me anything about it? What kind of supplement is it? Sorry to sound stupid but if I don't ask, I will never know. Thanks! Jo Ann
