  1. Righty here. Although when I had shoulder surgery (dominant hand) I got really good at feeding myself and getting coffee left-handed! (does that count?)<G> BTW - Got official diagnosis today... blood tests positive, mild blunting of villa.....
  2. Not a death sentence! Open Original Shared Link Following a gluten-free diet will usually greatly improve and may even completely resolve symptoms, heal existing intestinal damage, and prevent further problems. Improvements can begin within days of starting the diet. Healing completely involves a restoration of the intestinal villi that can absorb nutrients...
  3. The only customs experience I have is from US to Canada and back. But they have allowed store packaged cheese (don't cut it up and repackage), tuna - either a pull top or those foil type packages. Not the best, but you can eat it out of the package. Sometimes I can get peperoni packages across, sometimes not. I've never had a problem with chicken. I've been...
  4. You probably have a lot to learn. When I started this, I read from morning to night for about 6 or 7 days non stop. What kept me sane was I watched a couple hours of a comedian on U tube, went outside and read a book, listened to music. I didn't have the energy to go for a walk, but getting away and stop thinking about the what ifs and how could I handle...
  5. Fenrir Thank you so much for the information! I think that what you had to say is what convinced my doc to go back to the lab and get more information. I kept names, etc out of it, but he was interested. I am his first diagnosis, but he seems willing to do some research! Thanks again
  6. I have Celiac! The blood tests were boarder line but positive, and my doc got some more info on the biopsy. With the mild blunting, he says he agrees it is C. I am his first patient! I think for now I will stay with him. He said he was willing to run any blood tests I want... didn't know if insurance would pay... It's been a roller coaster for the last month...
  7. Thanks so much for the info! And your experience. if you don't mind I'm going to print this and show my doc ? Maybe he will listen. I read every page again. The words crypts and lymphocytes are not mentioned at all. It is really fairly generic. Just a few sentences about each esop, stomach and duodenum. I told the GI the reason I was seeing him was...
  8. I got my endoscopy results back as an online report. I have called 3 times to ask questions. The nurse relays them and calls me back. The GI won't talk to me and the only answer is follow up with your primary physician.... He says the test is inconclusive. "non-specific findings on your small bowel biopsy that are of no clinical significance." He only took...
  9. I was pretty emotional when I found out too. It seems like such a huge problem. But there are lots of things you can still eat. Fresh veggies, fruit, meats like chicken, turkey, beef, fish, rice, potatoes. I know there will be others along to help you out here. This is a great site to find answers. Lots of great people. Check out the newbie information. It...
  10. Try a sweet n low barrier.
  11. This website lists hospitals with C disease research units. Maybe you can call and ask advice or find one near you. Open Original Shared Link How long will it take to heal? Difference between avoid and eliminate? What to worry about CC? ie - can I take the bun off? use the same cutting board?

  13. I can't eat soy either. Several brands of tuna include soy - I've been told that Costco's brand Kirkland tuna does not have soy but I haven't found it yet. Also I bought a can of Whole Foods brand chunk light tuna with out soy. I had no problem with it. If you wanted to try and see if it was the soy you were reacting to? And if it is there is a soy free mayo...
  14. I've been on Pantoprazdole (PPI) for about 6 weeks now. Also tried Prilosex for 6 months, Zantac and some other prescription I can't remember, all for about the last year. The first 4 weeks on this one, helped, but didn't stop nausea or prevent vomiting a few times. I am still waiting for test results from biopsies done for Barretts and Celiac. I decided...
  15. Hello and welcome. I'm new here too - about 2 weeks. Worst symptoms for me is stomach problems, and fatigue. Have you been at this long? I'm still trying to figure it all out!
  16. Hi - welcome! I had mine done on the 30th (2 weeks, still waiting! First I was told 8-14 days. Then, when I called to ask a few questions, they told me up to 4 weeks! Hard to believe. Let us know how it goes!

  18. spirit22 sorry you have confusion with your results. I hope you get some answers! Still waiting for my results...are you still eating gluten for the blood tests?
  19. I've only been gluten free for 9 days, but have the same problem. I eat all day long it seems like... Mostly raw veggies with hummus and some home made soup with veggies. I don't know if you have other food intolerances, but protein does seem to help me. Chicken, pork chop, beef. I brown ground turkey mixed with the hummus, or avocado on lettuce leaves, turkey...
  20. Thank you so much for posting this. I don't know if I need it yet, but I haven't been able to find such good information.
  21. Good to know, thanks. I've been confused by this.
  22. Sometimes meat, like chicken, is injected with up to a 10% solution of broth to make it taste better. This could contain gluten. I think you would have to call the manufacturer. I got sick after eating a precooked store bought chicken, but not from Winco's frozen chicken breasts. I am brand new, less than 2 weeks but I have been eating exactly the same things...
  23. I had a dermatology appt this morning follow up from skin cancer biopsies 2 months ago. One was of some concern but non malignant. Got the all clear today! YEAh! And I don't have arthritis. (This is the short version) While I was out, I stopped by my doc's office to get a print out of the exact blood tests that were run last week. I don't know why I...
  24. Don't know if you these are unusual, but they are all new to me! Daikon - very large very mild radish type. pine nut ocra Chinese broccoli leek - cousin to onion, must wash and cook first jicama zucchini blossom - says you can stuff or fry (haven't tried) rhubarb - leaves are poisonous tomatillo Arugula or any greens like mustard, kale or dandelion...
  25. I'll look for that one. I could use the Almond Breeze Almond Milk. Don't know why I didn't think of that. It's so obvious after you tell me Guess that answers my question about coconut milk too, thanks!
